So today I'm going to a birthday party for my friends boyfriend... and I was looking in the card store everywhere for a card with Corgis on it because I know he loves corgis. And I wasn't even really looking at what type of card it was, I was just looking for corgis... and then I was like "well I doubt they're going to have this specific Corgi card and for it to be for an adult man's birthday..." Plus cards are so expensive now and I don't love the card stores around me as much as I used to... so I was like "meh, I'll make it myself!"
And you could do this for anything really, and it gives you a chance to personalize it to what that person likes... and its just easier.
Step 1: Google Pictures
Whatever you want to theme the card on, just google pictures of that! You could even just do regular birthday images on it. Looking up Corgis was really really fun... and I got a little carried away with it. They're just so cute! So that was a lot of fun. And I got things that I thought were more in theme. There was one with bottles of Jack Daniel's around it, and I know he likes whiskey. There was a birthday corgi. There was a really cute one of a corgi sleeping on a sneaker and it kind of looked like a fall background... so it all kind of made sense. There were some random ones that were just really cute that I used. The swimming corgis were kind of random... but it is cute!
Step 2: Choose a Template
On Pages its pretty easy because they have a few templates for cards and they tell you how to use it and everything. They have one that says Birthday Card... that was what I used initially because there are pictures of presents and I thought I could remove those and put Corgis in its place... but you couldn't... so I went with the "Photo Card Verticle." They also have a horizontal one...but I just went with the vertical one. That one does have some background color that you can't remove. Its orange and yellow... so it isn't the prettiest colors, but it looks fall-ish and it goes well with corgis... so it made sense.
Step 3: Read The Directions!
The directions aren't super clear... but they're helpful. Basically there is sort of a line, and you just fold along that line. And I thought it was more complicated than it was actually... I'll explain that in a little bit. What I thought was the most useful was to open it up with the template with the standard format that they have it in.They explain the directions on there and they show an example picture. The weird thing is though, the Orange and Yellow Backround made me think it was divided there because I deleted the picture they had with the girl on it right away, so when I looked at the template, I was like "Okay, that isn't where you fold it, I can layer pictures on both ends.
Step 4: Choose a Font/ Make Sure it fits right.
This was easy. Just insert text and then go to Format Font and go to the "fun" font section and choose one from there... then just make sure how it fits where you want it to fit.
Step 5: Preview Before Printing
As I said before, I didn't really know what it was going to look like or how it folded... so I made sure to preview it before printing, and then I realized where the back of the card was going to be... and I wanted to put something on the back... so I put a picture of a tail on the back.
Step 6: Don't forget to put some picture on the back!
As I said, I like making sure there's a little something on the back of the card... so make sure to put something there... I just think it makes it more fun!
And that is everything! Here is the finished product!
Hope you guys found this fun and helpful! Byeee!
