A Surplus of Hamilton

So I don't think I did the before bed blog yesterday... ugh.

Anyway I wanted to talk about when something that you like just kind of becomes readily available in like a surplus. This is especially true right now if you happen to love Hamilton.

Don't get me wrong, Hamilton is Amazing... but unless you saw the play... there wasn't all that much to go with it for a while. I still LOVE it and listen to it or reference it in some way every single day pretty much...but there wasn't a whole lot to it until recently.

First off is the Leslie Odom, Jr. Christmas cd Simply Christmas. I'm so excited about this. How can anyone not be excited about an Aaron Burr Christmas album! He is a really amazing singer and I just think its awesome that he's singing Christmas songs. That comes out this week! (and if you get it from his website, you can get a signed copy!)

And there is the Moana soundtrack... which I'm also really excited about! You can pre-order it on apple music and iTunes now and listen to a preview. The preview isn't from Lin Manuel Miranda, but it is really good! And the song on the previews makes me want to cry. I'm sure he's going to EGOT this year. I think all he needs is the Oscar... but, it will be awesome that he gets pretty much all of this in a year!

And the Hamilton Mixtape... which I'm not going to lie... I have some mixed feelings about. I think its going to be great... but I didn't love the Kelly Clarkson song on the preorder download. Its not that it wasn't good... and I knew she wasn't singing as a character or anything... but the song Kelly Clarkson has is It's Quiet Uptown... which is probably the most emotional song in the entire play. And I just didn't get the same thing from Clarkson that I did from the original song. It isn't bad... but that song is pretty sacred to me and it was just so different. I loved the version of My Shot from the Roots with Busta Rhimes though... it was just different but more relatable. Maybe Kelly Clarkson's version is also more relatable... I didn't think so though. It was still good... just different.

And  I think that is it. Other than the Hamilton Book with the song lyrics, which is new to me and the PBS special... there is a lot for me to enjoy before seeing the musical in January.

That is it... has this ever happened to you? Where you really like something and then more things make it so that you can enjoy it in different ways? Do you love Hamilton as much as I do? Let me know!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
