Scribbles About Food: Bahrs Oktoberfest Menu

Since I'm doing more restaurant reviews, I thought I'd do one a little more local for me. Bahrs landing is a historic seafood restaurant in NJ. Close to the Atlantic Highlands ferries, so if you are coming into Jersey from NY or about to leave NJ for NY... this isn't too far away! And it has a lot of good food in general... and I'll probably review some of the other things... but my favorite is the Oktoberfest Menu. As much as I like seafood, and as fresh as their seafood is... sometimes in the winter I don't want seafood and this menu is really good for winter.

And I think you can get seafood from this menu... but that isn't what I'll be talking about today!

Appetizers
They have giant pretzels! I like theirs... I didn't eat a lot when we ordered this last time because I had a pretzel with a different app that I had... but it was really good. I think it came with some sort of cheese... not totally sure. It was big and fun to share... so that's a good one.

The one I had that I was super impressed with was the German Onion Soup... which was topped with a pretzel and Gouda Cheese... and it was amazing! I'm a big fan of Onion Soup anyway... my mom makes good onion soup... this was sooo good! The pretzel with the gouda tasted really good and then the onions and the broth were really good too. I just thought this was a really delicious soup.

Entree

I love the pirogies. If you've never had pirogies before, they are dumplings filled with potatoes and they taste amazing. These come with an onion gravy (or cream sauce as it says on the menu.) And it comes with kielbasa that is very very good. And all the flavors together are just really really good. It is definitely a favorite of mine and something I will probably get on other menus if I see it.

And if you don't want a full meal of pirogies they are also offered as an appetizer. Idk if it comes with the same sauce, and I'm sure there is no kielbasa... but it is a good entree that I would highly recommend.

I know this is an Oktoberfest Menu review, and I'm posting this in November... but they keep the menu around most of the year anyway. I was ordering the pirogies in the summer. They'll probably have everything till at least February.

Byee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
