Scribbles About Music: Throwback Thursday Edition- Our Lawyers Made Us Change The Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued by Fall Out Boy (From Under The Cork Tree)

So I'm doing a new Throwback Thursday Scribbles About Music where I go over every song from an album every other week (or maybe every week?). I'm starting with the CD That got me into music... From Under The Cork Tree by Fall Out Boy. And This is the first song... and the title is too long for me to keep repeating so I'm going to call it Lawyers. Emo Bands have names that are far too long as I've noticed over the years... so in real life I refer to their songs as something like "Number 5" or "The Song Before Dance, Dance" Or something like that.

When I first bought this cd it was before I had an Ipod... before Iphones even existed. It was 10 years ago I think... I was 14 when I got this cd I think... so yeah.... thats quite a while and I still like it! I chose the CD because Fall Out Boy has been my favorite band for like 10 years... and it really hasn't changed. I don't listen to all their songs all the time any more... but I still think I'd consider them my favorite band and I love their new songs on the radio and all of that. They're good live too... just a fun band!

It took me a while to actually like this song. I bought the CD for Dance, Dance and Sugar We're going down and I didn't really want to hear any of the other songs because at the time I didn't like Fall Out Boy, I just liked those 2 songs and thought Patrick was cute. This is probably one of the first songs I did actually listen to and like from the CD and and then the 2nd song and the 5th song... which I'll get to in the near future... lol. I started liking those and then I was like "well I guess I'm accidentally a Fall Out Boy Fan"

I always laughed at the lyirics in the song that say "Besides we've got such good fashion sense" because they really don't. I mean I thought it was cool, but only because they were in a band. I had seen other cute guys dress like that at the time... and I just thought "You really need to be in a band to pull off that look." So yeah. Not such great fashion sense. I also love the lyrics "The Ribbon On My Wrists says Do Not Open Before Christmas" and I always wrote that on every ribbon I had since listening to that song. If there was a journal with a ribbon bookmark in it, I wrote those lyrics on it... and I'm sure the lyrics are deeper than that... but I always just looked at it kind of lightly and just thought it was cool. Even now when I see a ribbon, I want to write "Do Not Open Before Christmas" on it... just because of this. Its like a weird little memory thing. I don't know!

I've hafd this on repeat for the past few minutes... can't totally figure out what the song is about. Music Industry? Getting Famous or Almost Famous? Lying and getting lied to? Feeling invincible? Don't trust people? All of these things? Not sure! Fall Out Boy lyrics are kind of all over the place. I like it though.

So I'm happy to say that so far... 10 years later, the song still holds up! And I'm thinking the whole CD will too... we'll see!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
