Chart Chat:7.18.16

I'm gonna do Chart Chat a little differently today and actually go with the top 10 movies of the week instead of the top 5. We'll see how that works!

10) Independence Day: Resurgence- Bottom of the list but still holding on strong considering its been in theaters for so long. I never saw Independence Day because it came out when I was 5 or 6 and I was TERRIFIED of aliens because my mom took me to see the movie Mars Attacks, which is a very funny movie, but very disturbing for a 5 year old! And I wanted to see this when I was little, but my mom made sure I didn't see it because I was so scared of Mars Attacks. A few years later I went to Disney and at the time there was a ride called "Alien Encounter" which is now the Stitch Ride... and that was the scariest thing that ever happened to me in my life. Lol. Somehow now I love Aliens and The X Files... so go figure...but I feel like I'll need to see the original before I watch the Hemsworth brother-y version. Lol. I forget which Hemsworth brother is in this... I like Chris better... but yeah. Lol.

9) The BFG- I'm surprised this is so low on the charts... but not that surprised. It is a little newer and it was number 1 a few weeks ago when it opened I believe... but I can see people not really wanting to see this. I think it looks very pretty... but its weird. I'm not a huge fan of live-action Disney movies or live action kids movies. I prefer cartoons more or less... but this one is one I think I'll put on in the background just because it looks really pretty.

8) The Infiltrator- This is the Heisenberg vs. Pablo Escabar movie! I thought Bryan Cranston was playing Pablo Escabar and I was like "Is there no backlash to this because people just love Bryan Cranston?" But no. Lol. He's playing the guy trying to catch Pablo Escabar. This is probably a good at-home movie. I'm a little surprised that this isn't doing better. I think its an independent movie... but Bryan Cranston is kind of a big deal... lol. Although he's not in many movies... idk. I think it looks good but I'm not rushing to see it.

7) Central Intellegence - This looks funny but kinda stupid. I don't know. This is another one probably fun to have on in the background but maybe not one to spend a lot of money (movies are expensive lol) and fully pay attention too. Cop comedies also aren't my favorite, except 21 Jump Street. I like them, but its hard to follow the plot with the funny parts. There's one with Will Ferell and Mark Whalberg that comes to mind with this. That's a funny movie but its not one I regret not seeing in theaters. And this movie will be on every channel. The Rock and Kevin Hart? Forget it! Wait till its on tv and for the sequels.

Although I've heard this is good. Not by critics, but by real people just wanting to see a funny movie... so yeah.

6) The Purge: Election Year - I've talked about The Purge movies before.... this is one of those movies I think has the V for Vendetta type of thing where the following might be a little weird. And I think they should have pushed this movie back a little bit... or a lot of bit. Its a little insensitive with all the horrible news happening. And I can see why this is sort of suffering at the box office because of that. I guess suffering is a strong word... but its behind Mike and Dave need wedding dates... so that seems like a bit of a struggle. Lol.

5) Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates- Tbis looks funny. I probably won't see it in theaters just because its probably almost gone and I haven't seen many movies in theaters lately... but I have the book of this... yes there's a book. It's based off of a Craigslist Ad... which is probably a good thing. Lol. I love the movie Safety Not Guaranteed and thats based off a meme also. And that has Aubrey Plaza in it too... so if there's a meme you want to make a movie: Aubrey Plaza.

4) Finding Dory I really want to see this. I probably won't see it in theaters, but it looks really good and I've heard its just as good if not better than Finding Nemo... it looks amazing and I just really want to see it.

3) The Legend of Tarzan- I mentioned this one last week too. Its still doing fairly well though... I wonder if people are buying tickets for this and sneaking into The Purge or something. Who knows. Actually... just checked on IMDB to check that this was PG-13 to prove my theory... which it is... but people were also saying it wasn't bad. It has a pretty high rating on IMDB too. So this isn't for the film snob... but people seem to like it. Hmm.

2) Ghostbusters- I've heard bad reviews on this... but thats not stopping me from wanting to see it. Men just aren't funny... so this might be better than the original. I'm half joking about that but it does sound ridiculous saying men aren't funny... yet people say women aren't funny every day. Funny. Anyway yeah. Again I probably won't actually get to see this in theaters... but I want to!

1) The Secret Life of pets- Number 1 again! Beating Ghostbusters? Again I think people might be buying tickets to this and sneaking into The Purge... But this would still probably make it to number 1 in the charts either way. My sister and her husband thought this was a little too long and all the funny parts were on the commercial... but I'm guessing kids are loving it, its really cute and has a good voice-acting cast... so its doing well. And thats pretty cool. I'm happy for Illumination. I'm always cheering for them because I love Minions and Despicable Me so much.... but even if this is sort of a dud... I'm glad its working for them!

And that is it! Did you see any of these movies? Love them, hate them? Let me know! Also let me know if you prefer top 10 movies or just the top 5... cause maybe I'll do a mix. I'm just a little more interested in the bottom of the list right now and seeing the movies still hanging on and the ones that are not!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
