Blogmas Day 5: Scribbles About Music: Simply Christmas by Leslie Odom, Jr. Review

So when I found out Aaron Burr was having a Christmas CD I got super excited! I think he has my favorite singing voice of anyone in the Original Hamilton cast... and I just really like it! I'm not that into his jazz cd because I'm not that into jazz... but I know he's a really good singer and I like Christmas Music, so it was good!

So the selection of songs on the cd is kind of unique. These aren't songs that are un-traditional... but they aren't necessarily ones that you hear all the time on every radio station... and its sort of a different take on them too. The music is unique and Leslie's voice is just so amazing that it really does well with all of the songs.

And the songs on the cd are Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, The First Noel, My Favorite Things, I'll Be Home for Christmas, Merry Christmas Darlin, The Christmas song, Winter Song, and Ave Maria... in almost that order... lol. But yeah good selection of songs. I like his version of My Favorite things a lot. Winter Song isn't my favorite Christmas song... but I really love his version. I think all of the songs are amazing. Ave Maria is especially good and brings tears to my eyes... its really one of the best Christmas cds ever.

It's also cool because you can get an autographed copy of the cd on his website for $25! So if you know any Hamilton fans, this is literally the perfect Christmas gift!

My favorite song is probably Ave Maria... I don't really think of that as a Christmas song though because people sing it at weddings... so I think my favorite is The First Noel or My Favorite Things... both are really amazing and just really pretty songs. There isn't one song on the album where I'm like "meh, I'll skip over this." It's all really good.

So if you want to get in the holiday spirit, this is a good one to download. If you like Christmas music, but you don't necessarily like the radio's selection this is great... and if you like Hamilton... this is obviously really good.

Hope this was helpful!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
