Blogmas Day 7:Scribbles About Places- New York City at Christmas

New York is always a fun place to visit... but around the holidays I think it is especially magical and fun! There's a ton to do everywhere you go... and I just really like it.

One time I was actually in New York On Christmas itself and that was totally bizarre. It was totally empty when we got off the train. Times Square was a little busy at night, but the hustle and bustle wasn't really there. So if you have tickets to something on Christmas or you wanted to go to a hotel in New York or something for the holidays... its a fun experience to see it empty! Or even if you live in New York, its just really nice!

And the reason why we were in New York on Christmas was to go to Elf the Musical! I went with my sister, who loves Elf and we had a really fun time at Elf the Musical! I've seen the play 2 times and it is one of my favorites. The music is really amazing and fun and it's just a great play! They always get really good actors to play Buddy. My sisters seen it 3 or 4 times now and she's loved it every time she's gone!

And there are a lot of good musicals to see that are especially themed for Christmas... but in general Christmas Time is a great time to see a play because then you can see all the decorations and the trees and Santa... which brings me to my next favorite thing!

Santa is in Macys! I know there are Santa's in other malls... but I think Santa himself is in Macy's on Herald Square! Where else would he be? They have the parade there anyway! They have a really nice North Pole set up that really makes it feel like the North Pole for Santa. They do a great job and it is a lot of fun!

And the displays in all the windows are always so fun to look at! Its a little hard to do because there are so many people crowding around them... but its worth it to go for a look! It just makes everything more magical and wonderful. It's pretty to see.

And the Rockafellar tree! I've never seen the lighting of it... honestly I've been there once when they did the lighting ceremony and it was so crowded the cops that were working there told us we were better off seeing it at home... so we didn't go over there and I wouldn't recommend that as something you have to do in NY because I'm imagining it is hard to get a place to see it. But if you just go to see the tree already lit, its really fun. It's fun to watch the skaters too. I don't really know how to skate... but I've been to that restaurant nearby for lunch and it was just kind of fun to watch.

The Christmas show is also a really fun thing to do in Rockafellar Center... I think it's worth it. I haven't been since I was a kid, but I really like seeing the dancers and it gets you into the holiday spirit. It's something I think you can enjoy at any age... I know my parents and grandparents loved it too. And I like that they change it every other year too... I've heard that at least... and that keeps it fresh and it makes it good!

There are nice Christmas markets too. I like Bryant Park a lot. I went there once for a friends birthday and we got Hot Chocolate there and I ended up getting a scarf and a hat at one of the stores there. In fact... early on on this blog I used the scarf as a background for my "Feeling Lovely Friday" posts... so that's quite a throwback! Lol. It's a really nice scarf too! I love it still!

And places to eat... I don't really remember anything specific... but when my sister and I went for christmas we ate at a restaurant at The Mariott in Times Square and I had Fried Chicken and Waffles and it was amazing! I mentioned that restaurant near Rockafellar Center... I was 10 so I don't remember it all that well... but I seem to remember some type of soup that was a little bit spicy. That is specific! I don't even remember the name of the restaurant... but you could look out and see the skaters and it wasn't that far from Broadway because we saw The Producers that day too... Which seems unlikely because Broadway and Rockafellar Center aren't really that close... but I think it was there, and I think it was when we saw The Producers...

And yeah... I can't think of a restaurant that I think is particularly good or decorated nicely. I think there's a place called Lilly's that is really good and I think my sister says they decorate nicely... but other than that there isn't anything I can think of specifically... it's just fun too look around and explore during the holidays!

That's everything I can think of! I hope you have a good holiday if you plan on going to NY around Christmas... and if not I hope you have a fun holiday anyway! There are so many fun local places around me that if I don't go to NY around the holidays... I'm not upset! These are just some of the fun things I've done that I would recommend!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
