Blogmas Day 3: Scribbles About Movies: Moana Review

Allright... I guess this isn't particularly Christmasy... but it is out during the holidays and it would be fun to see around Christmas with family in town and everything and if you're looking for gift ideas, the Moana toys would be really good ones because this movie was great and I think it's a really fun one to see.

It took a little bit long to kinda get started. We knew the basic plot line of why Moana has to leave the Island and find Maui from the very beginning, it pretty much opens with that part in the trailer where Moana's grandmother is telling the story of Maui and Moana is a little kid and she's so excited to see him.

And then we see that the ocean choses Moana when she is young and the scene is one of the most beautifully animated scenes in any movie ever... and I would highly encourage seeing this movie because its just so beautiful! See it in theaters if you can because it just makes you feel like you're in Hawaii. It is really really a beautiful movie.

But anyway after that scene... it gets a little slow watching Moana grow up and she's sort of in charge of the island because she's the chief's daughter... so she's making a lot of the responsible choices and everything. And at one point... I don't want to give any spoilers but she has to leave the island and her dad doesn't want her to because its dangerous. And then she leaves the island and the real adventure begins.

One thing I really loved in the movie was the characters. Maui and Moana were so funny and just really fun for the movie. I thought the voices of The Rock and Aulin'i Cravalho were perfect. They seemed to have so much fun with the movie and just really enjoyed working on it.

And the Soundtrack was beautiful too! It was so perfect, obviously Lin Manuel Miranda wrote a lot of the music... so I'm a little biased... but then again everyone should be because he's brilliant. And a lot of times it seemed like Hamilton in ways and you could kind of point out which songs the songs sounded like.

It's also brilliant that they have Lin Manuel Miranda on the advertisements with The Rock and Aulin'i because you could tell that he put so much work into the songs and they turned out brilliant... plus he's a great star power too! The Rock is on his own though... but yeah. They need Lin Manuel Miranda too. He did such a good job. The songs were very emotional. I'm actually listening to the music right now.

Ohhh and the song Shiny totally sounded like David Bowie right? It was Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords, but I wouldn't have been surprised if it were written for David Bowie!

One more thing I liked about the animation. Moana wasn't super skinny like the other princesses. Not that she wasn't skinny but her arms compared to Elsa's arms definitely had more muscle to them and she was a little shorter and just kind of built... so I thought that was cool. She's not an "eyes bigger than her stomach" princess and she's just as beautiful as Anna and Elsa anyway.

And if you're looking for Christmas presents... Moana toys would be awesome. I would have loved a talking Maui toy when I was little. That would have made me laugh a lot. Moana is also a positive female role model... so a Moana doll would be really good too. We actually did pick up some Moana toys to donate after seeing the movie because it was so good!

The animated short before the movie was super cute too! I want to try to include those in the movie reviews too! It's just overlooked but I love that they include them and that's another good reason to see it in theaters. It is a lot though. The only people in the theater with us was a little girl and her mom and grandmother I think... didn't get a good look. And the girl was excited for a lot of the previews they showed before the movie but she kept saying "But I wanna see Moana!" Because it took such a long time to get the movie started!

Hope this helped!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
