Sunday Spoop: Horror News and Reviews

Alright guys! Basically I had a little round up of reviews I wanted to do of some horror things... nothing is super recent or super relevant- but I wanted to put it all into one little blog post here... so here we go!

First off I'll start with what I think is the biggest and most surprising news: Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness was announced in Marvel Phase 5 and it is going to be the first Marvel Horror Movie! My favorite thing about the MCU is that they are always playing with the genres of their movies. Captain America movies are War Movies, Spider Man is High School comedies, Ant Man Comedy Heist, Guardians are Sci Fi Comedies, Thor and Doctor Strange were Fantasy... it's just kind of interesting that their next genre is horror. It makes things very layered and more interesting. I like it a lot!

Next news... I sort of inadvertently waited for a more official statement to talk about this... but they announced a series of Get Out and Us Funko Pops! The Us ones in particular I think look really great. The son I think is the coolest looking one and he has a chase also... which looks really cool. I love both of those movies and I'm not totally sure if I'll pick them all up... but I might get a few.

Speaking of Pops- lets do a little review on my Sabrina the Teenage Witch with Cauldron SDCC Exclusive pop that Hot Topic was carrying. I love how animated this pop looks- she looks like she's right from the comic, her eyes look very animated and cute. The colors are great and I love that she comes with a cauldron... it adds a bit of spookiness to it!

I read the book HorrorStor by Grady Hendrix... and that's a really great horror comedy book. This was one of those things where I judged the book by the cover... and it worked out. It's a horror story based on an Ikea rip off store that was built on the site of an old prison... and it was actually like just as scary as it was funny. There were some super comic moments... but it did give me a nightmare! Not a bad nightmare- it was just entertaining and it was very easy to picture everything happening and it all just felt so real. I also read it during a time when the power was out at my house... so that might have helped it.

I have 2 movie reviews before I close this weeks Sunday Spoop. The first one is Midsommar. I saw it about a month ago and it was a great movie. I feel like it might be a little underrated too because its the second feature length movie from Ari Aster... and it isn't quite as good as his previous movie Hereditary... but honestly... Hereditary is a fantastic movie and it would be really hard to top that. This is actually a very beautiful movie in some aspects because it does have some very beautiful imagery and the setting of Sweeden is very beautiful... but there are also some really grotesque images and moments. Its a really uncomfortable movie to watch too... there are so many moments that just make you feel uncomfortable... which is kind of fun for a horror movie. It's a great movie if you can actually make it through the whole movie... cause it's not something I can recommend for everyone... and it is weird and boring at parts... but I still liked it and it pays off.

Another horror movie I just recently watched was Creep on Netflix. This is kind of like a found footage movie. I thought it was about ghost hunters... but it's actually just about a creepy guy. It's very suspenseful and it's kind of something where you don't really know what to expect. I think they did a good job with it and Mark Duplass was great! I'm excited to see Creep 2!

So yeah- I hope you guys like this post! I think I'll have one next week... this might not be a weekly post... but I'll try to do it every once and a while... especially now that it's close to Halloween... it might be more weekly.

Bye!
-Shannon

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
