Review Time- Artpop by Lady Gaga

I was super SUPER excited for this cd. I love Lady Gaga, usually she is someone I would go out and buy the physical cd the very day it comes out, but I was kind of broke when it originally came out, so I held off till Christmas and put it on my list... I finally got a chance to listen to it once... so here is my first impression.

Well okay, first first impression- Applause has been my favorite single that Gaga has ever released I think... I mean maybe I like Just Dance and Pokerface and Bad Romance more, but I really think Applause is my absolute favorite. It makes me happy whenever I hear it. It's very different from her other songs, but not so different that it's like "what the hell happened to Lady Gaga." I just felt it was really great and actually quite powerful and I couldn't wait to hear all of the other songs on the cd.

That being said... I don't think there was any song I liked more. Which is sad because the singles I usually love, but when I hear the cd there are usually 3 stand alone songs that I love way more than anything else... and this just didn't have that. It's not that the songs were bad, they were all quite fantastic and maybe its just something I need to give another listen to but I was unimpressed. Compared to The Fame, The Fame Monster and Born This Way... this just isn't as good.

All the songs are really catchy and dancey, which is very typical Gaga... but there isn't anything else to them other than that. The other cds had some dance songs, some love songs, some songs about sex, some meaningful/inspirational songs, and some songs that you could tell Gaga herself just loved performing and those were just really great songs. The Fame Monster was so powerful because it showed all of Lady Gaga's fears... which is something interesting to think about considering the fact that Gaga is incredibly famous, powerful and beautiful. She has her fears just like everyone else. Born This Way's Hair was also so incredibly inspiring and you can tell that that song was in Gaga's heart for a long time and when she performs it it is just amazing and inspirational and truly unique. Artpop lacks any of those sorts of songs. It just seems like a bunch of dancey sex songs to me, and frankly I've grown accustomed to more from Lady Gaga... so I'm not sure how I feel.

Overall the songs are good and catchy, I listened to it all at once, which I think is the way this particular album was meant to be listened to and I thought it was good like that, but its not like theres any one stand alone song that is particularly great. It's the work as a whole that is much better, if that makes any sense at all. So it isn't necessarily a bad thing that there is no stand alone fantastic song other than Applause, the last one... but I would kind of prefer at least one "Hair" type of song.

Overall good cd, worth a listen and Lady Gaga is still my favorite Female Singer... but I just didn't like this cd that much. I actually did prefer Katy Perry's 'Prism' dare I say it.

So yeah, What did you guys think? Were you impressed, disappointed? Not a Gaga fan at all but liked what you heard? Let me know!

Ohhh random side note- my sister is a big fan of Gaga so I asked if she wanted to borrow the cd and she said no, she refused to put it on her ipod because R. Kelly is on it and she does not want to support R. Kelly because... well if you don't know the bad stuff R. Kelly has done by now... idk what to tell you. I agree, I do not like the bad stuff he did and for that reason I would rather not have him on the cd, and it surprises me that Lady Gaga would... but I didn't know that R. Kelly was on the album and I will always support Lady Gaga. So yeah, just throwing that in there. I mean I think Aziz Ansari explained R. Kelly pretty well in his stand up act by saying that he is a talented performer/crazy person that hopefully did not really do the things he is accused of doing... I mean I believe I can fly is amazing. And he has a Christmas song... which was weird, but I found it out at like 5 in the morning before work one day and I used it as a weird icebreaker for a class reunion... lol odd.

Okay so that's it! Let me know what you think about Artpop and Lady Gaga and all that below!

Byeeeeeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
