So I usually do a Stuff That Happened this week type of post... but when I am writing this it is Wednesday and really nothing I like to talk about happened. There are some celebrity feuds, there is a fight between Andy Richter and Chelsea Handler because Chelsea made a fat joke about him (Andy Richter isn't even really fat.) Rene Zellwegger has a new face. For some reason people care about Blake Lively now that she's pregnant with Ryan Reynold's baby... and I don't really care about these things.
What do I care about? Breaking Bad of corse!
So Toys R Us sells action figures of Breaking Bad because they've always done things like that. They have grown up toys (I was going to say "adult toys" but that sounds quite dirty... )and I remember seeing a lot of horror movie action figures as a kid... so it makes sense to me that they would sell Breaking Bad Action figures. It isn't a kids toy, but its also a place for collectables and things of the like. It's always been that way.
So of corse a Florida mom sees it and she gets angry and now she's protesting Toys R Us and she had a petition signed with 2,000 signatures to remove the toys from the shelves. This is stupid.
First off, you can tell news is quite slow this week because this was a big story and it doesn't even have enough signatures to do anything. And its just weird to see this being an issue.
Also it isn't like a normal kid would know who these characters are and want to buy those toys in the first place. Its a 15+ toy. If you're child wants a Jesse Pinkman action figure and they're like 8... that kid is doomed from the start. I mean its not like these are anything any kid is going to want unless they know what Breaking Bad is. And if your kid knows what Breaking Bad is and wants these things... then you've already failed as a parent. I'm sorry you just have.
My mom made a good point about this for the side of the Florida mom. She also doesn't think these action figures should be at Toys R Us and thinks they should be in comic book stores only... but really how many comic book stores are there anymore? There aren't all that many. And really there probably aren't even as many Toys R Us's either. If they started selling these in the toy section of Wall Mart of K Mart I don't think that would be right, but Toys R Us sells collectables as well as toys so it makes sense to me.
Also my friend made a good point about this too, they sell worse things than that at Toys R Us. Take every video game ever pretty much. I don't really believe violent video games are whats causing all the bad things in the world... but video games are really violent and in the wrong hands that could be really bad.
Also... Florida. Lots of bad things happen in Florida. So yeah...
I happen to love Bryan Cranston's response to it which is "I'm so angry I'm burning my Florida Mom action figure in protest." Lol. No offense to any Florida Moms reading this, I just think that is funny.
Sooo yeah.
Byeee!

FOLLOW UP- Aaron Paul said pretty much the same thing I just did. Toys R Us sells Barbies (which I'm not against... but I'd like it if they had a barbie that was more realistic looking or something and they were designed to get tomboys to play with dolls.) andddddd also violent video games... so yeah. Not sure what is so bad about some breaking bad action figures. When I was a kid they had Texas Chainsaw Massacre action figures, I didn't get any and I turned out okay.
