Scribbles About Tv: From A-Z Pilot Review

So now that we live in the glorious age of the internet, networks are releasing the pilots of shows earlier on their websites, Apps, Hulu even. The first show I've seen do this so far is From A-Z which I watched right after it was put out.

I'm going to start this off by saying I think I would watch another episode of this show, but I can't see it lasting all that long. It was cute, the concept was about a man that worked at a Match.com type of place that just put out a tinder-like app for dating...which I thought was interesting. Anyhoo, he meets this girl, played by Christina Miloti aka The Mother aka Tracey McConnel and she's the perfect girl, she's the one for him blah blah blah. They feel like they've met before, but they haven't. There is an excellent voice over from Katey Segal that says their relationship lasts 8 months and this show will cover everything from A-Z.

This show has a lot of pros and cons to it... So I'll start with the cons. It's been done before: this is so similar to 500 Days of Summer, You're the Worst and kind of a backwards how I met your mother all combined. It's slightly original because this EXACT thing hasn't been done on television before, but it's sooo sooo much like 500 Days of Summer that it's not like it's anything new or anything. Another con is a lack of character development. I know this is the pilot so it's fair to say there won't be much character development, but if you watch the Pilot episodes to so many other shows it's clear from the start that we know exactly what we're getting into. The Arrested Development Pilot we know exactly who all the characters are just from the way they greet Michael. In the Parks and Rec pilot, we know that Leslie is an over-achiever and she makes big promises and will do everything she can to get them accomplished. From this show we learn that Andrew is a Boys boy with a sensitive side and Zelda is a Girls girl that likes being a lawyer. That doesn't really give me anything. It's the most generic description that could literally be about anyone. Also their minor characters are too generic to be interesting: he has a sleazy friend that lies to women, she has a gullible friend that falls for that, Andrew also has a boss that's angry and greedy... There is no Ron Swanson or Gob established... Making the show a little weak in my eyes. Also Andrews character is totally unbelievable. He's like Ted Mosby on steroids, he's far too romantic. There are really no women like that let alone men: especially SINGLE men lol.

Some pros: The Chemistry between the two leads isn't bad. It's not like "omg these two are completely in love and great together" but that's not really what it's supposed to be. The story isn't all that boring either. It was a little dragged out, but the Pilot's usually are since it's establishing the story. There was a little element of mystery as to if these two will end up together, if Zelda really is the girl he was talking about, and if that girl really is his soul mate or just his type. Its got that which will probably get more intriguing as the series goes on.

And I guess the best pro of it was that when I was watching it I was like "yeah I'd see another episode of this." It isn't the best thing, I wasn't like "I need a second episode right now!" But overall it wasn't the worst 20 minutes of my life. That's something lol. I want to see where this goes, but if it doesn't last or it's up against something better, I probably won't watch it.

So what other exciting new shows are there? I'm hoping that they put up Marry Me and How To Get Away With Murder early also. I want to see those.

BYEEEE!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
