Scribbles about Television: Bojack Horseman

I honestly had no idea what this show was about. I thought it was just about a guy that dressed up as a horse or something stupid like that. It did look like a completely stupid show, but with a cast like Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Tompkins and Aaron Paul, you kind of think that's pretty frickin good! Even for an animated show, they all do such great voice work I was excited about it. Also Will Arnett and Aaron Paul are executive producers so it sounded pretty awesome... And it was!

So it isn't a show about a guy that dresses up as a horse. It's an animated show about a horse that was a sitcom star in the 90s and now he's sort of a selfish washes up has been who's trying to get back out in the world. Even though it's such a ridiculous show, it's still got a very sad realness to it. I would even call it almost a dark comedy, but it isn't too dark because it is so over the top. It's very different from other animated comedies because it is very dark and Bojack really does have a lot of problems and the other characters are all very troubled as well. It's interesting.

The story mostly focuses on Bojack trying to write a book with the help of a ghostwriter names Diane Nguyen. The ghost writer is a pretty human girl who also happens to be dating his rival, a golden retriever named Mr. Peanutbutter, who is probably my favorite character lol. Amy Sedaris voices his
cat manager/occasional girlfriend named Princess Carolyn. Aaron Paul plays Todd his roommate who is really just some guy named that started living on his couch after a party 5 years ago. Kirsten Schall guest stars as his TV daughter. Everyone is just really funny and overall they just work well together. Margo Martindale, Arnett's TV mom even guest stars as character actress Margo Martindale. The pop culture references on this show are really funny.

Another thing about this show is that it's actually like an addictive comedy. A lot of comedies like these are good, but there's nothing really keeping you on the edge of your seat wondering what happens next. With this and Episodes I actually feel like "these are comedies that just keep me hooked to see everything that happens!" I'm really happy it's on Netflix because then I can just binge watch everything all at once! This type of show wouldn't work on any other network I don't think. It's just a very netflixy show.

I'm also very happy to hear that they are picked up for season 2 because it ended on a rather sad but also almost uplifting note, if that makes any sense. It's something that I immediately wanted to see more of, but I didn't know if people loved it as much as I do.

I would definitely recommend this. If you don't mind watching a show that's amazingly funny but also a little bit sad and serious and ridiculous at the same time... This is for you. I know everything I just said contradicts... But if you watch it, that's how you'll feel about it too. It's definitely one of my favorite shows in a while.

BYEEEE!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
