Scribbles About Movies: Guardians of the Galaxy Review!

I'm not a huge fan of Marvel movies, I hated the Iron Man movies, I liked The Avengers... But that is about it, but I really wanted to see this movie and I'm so happy I did. I liked that the previews made it look like this was more of a comedy than an action movie, I love Chris Pratt and i really wanted to see him in this. It's just great all around.

Something I liked a lot about this movie was that it starts off super interesting right away. In a lot of Super Hero movies, the first movie is usually a huge origin story and it takes a while to get to what's really going on in the movie. This still kind of had an origin story... But the origin story was super interesting. It's an action filled movie from the very start.

It also doesn't take itself too seriously. Like in Transformers... No one is like "hey it's kind of absurd that these cars are really alien robots" but in Guardians they're like "there is a talking raccoon and a talking tree that only says 'I Am Groot' this is really funny!" And it was funny! They really made it work for that reason.

Don't even get me started on Chris Pratt in this movie... Oh my god. I love Parks and Recreation and I've pretty much had a crush on him since that show started but seeing him in this new action hero Starlord role was really great. Not only was he in great shape for the role and did a good job at the actiony parts and the funnier parts, but he was also very human in this role. His character had a sad backstory that affected everything else that he did, and he really brought that to life. Not a lot of actors could do all sad, serious, and funny all at the same time. And really, good for Pratt for starring in this movie! I remember a few years ago at the Oscars Will Ferrel and Jack Black did a song about how comedy movies make tons of money, but they'll never win an Oscar or anything. Then John C. Reily sang with them because he did both the oscar movies and the funny movies. I think Pratt could do that, plus action now that he's in this. I think he's on top of the world right now and he's basically untouchable... And I could not think of a better person to be so, he just seems like a really nice and sweet guy. Ohhh and he was in The Lego Movie too, so he's got animated movies too! He's unstoppable now! Lol.

I also loved the world that this movie took place in because it totally reminds me of Star Wars. I loved Star Wars as a kid it was my favorite and this soooo reminded me of that. Like I wish this came out when I was little so that I could get the action figures and play with them... Like my Star Wars action figures lol. I'm thinking of buying an action figure of Pratt's character... Just because I really do like Chris Pratt and I am so proud of him for this. And I want a funko pop of Groot!

And last but certainly not least... The soundtrack was totally kickass. They had a ton of great songs from the 70s and 80s. On the commercials they always play hooked on a feeling, that is just one of the many amazing songs in this. Moonage Daydream by David Bowie is another great one, that really is sooo soo fitting in this movie too. I love David Bowie, so any movie that somehow has some sort of David Bowie thing in it is kind of my jam. It gets bonus points for that!

So I would definitely recommend seeing this movie. I don't think it's too scary for kids or anything, it might be a little sad if you're kid is more sensitive... But hey there are a ton of sad cartoons too and it's no sadder than like Frozen or, from what I've heard How To Train Your Dragon 2 or Timothy Green! I loved Star Wars as a kid... And I think kids will love this too.

Byeeeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
