This weeks a little weird cause I was sick over the weekend/ at the beginning of this week, so it's like I'm out of a coma all of a sudden and into finding out what the news is. I also think I watch more news when I'm sick... So there is that also.
1) Donald Sterling banned for life from NBA and Clippers related things for his racist comments- this is fitting. I said last week that it was a weird story because his wife was using his girlfriend. It is still a weird story, but what he said was absolutely horrible... So fuck that guy and let's not have him do any more clippers or basketball things. Floyd Mayweather apparently has sparked an interest in buying the team now that Sterling g is gone... So meh. Again as long as it isn't like Mel Gibson or Kramer buying the team, I'm okay. I also really don't know who that is other than that he's a boxer or wrestler... Someone that fights people. So that's cool.
2) Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas Split- This is an exciting story. I mean its not like Prince Harry is going to suddenly be like "yeah I want to date some random girl from New Jersey thats already taken sort of" so it isn't exactly like I'm going to be a Princess anytime soon anyway... but still its nice to think about. I don't think I'm cut out for the princess life anyway... but a girl can dream. I could be Mia Thermopolis one day! You don't know!
Anyway this is sad also. I don't know who Cressida Bonas is exactly, but I mean there were rumors that they were going to get married soon I think... but those are just rumors. Break ups are sad.
I don't really know how long they were dating, but it was a while at least... actually let me look that up. Ohhh alright two years. She's cute. People says that he found her too needy... really? After two years all of a sudden she's needy? Thats kind of crappy. Ohhh well. Soo yeah thats a thing and will probably be all over the news as well as the George Clooney engagement... ohhh boy. Exciting times.
3) Mean Girls celebrated tenth anniversary on Wednesday- I can't believe that this movie is 10 already! I'm pretty sure I saw this the day it came out too, so ten years ago today (I'm writing this Tuesday) I was watching Mean Girls for the first time and I didn't even think I would like it! I didn't know Tina Fey had written it, but when I was in the theater and saw that she had I was totally on board.
I've had a lot of mixed feelings about this because there have been girls that take it too seriously and don't fully understand the meaning behind the movie: like making a burn book and stuff like that... but I love the movie. It's actually really empowering that a female-centered comedy by a female writer has such an important place in pop culture. I feel like it kind of came out of no where and it was so funny and it's just so important. Maybe it's just for my age group. Quoting it is almost like a secret handshake for people in their early 20s. I remember in Bio once some white girl was talking about how she was from Africa. Some guy said "If she's from Africa then why is she white" and I immediately repeated "ohhh my god you can't just ask people why they're white." Now were married. Jk, we were just kind of friends for the semester. I don't even remember what his name was, but that would be a cool story. Lol.
4) Roger Rabbit star Bob Hostas passed away at 71- This is sad. I was listening to the How Did This Get Made episode about Super Mario Brothers and I think they said he had Alzheimer's or Dimensia, which is really sad. It's a little weird because when I heard a few months ago that Bob Costas was in the news for his pink eye at the Olympics, I thought that it was Bob Hostas and I thought him being in the news meant that he had passed away. So that's just like an eerie coincidence. Really sad, I must have seen Who Framed Roger Rabbit at some point... But I think the tape we had it on had a bunch of things taped after it. I think it was like Mary Poppins or The Wizard of Oz or something like that that we taped when I was a kid and it just happened to have a lot of other cartoons and movies after it and I'm pretty sure I always watched up until Who Framed Roger Rabit and then I'd fall asleep or something. I saw the movie kind of like that when I was a kid, but I did really like it and the ride in Disneyland always looked fun. Not sure they still have it, but I bet it would be fun!
5) Bradley Cooper gained an extra 40 pounds for a new movie role! He has also been spotted with a bushy beard- He is playing a real life person in the upcoming movie American Sniper, which Clint Eastwood is directing and he is taking the role very seriously according to his co-star in the movie- Eric Close. I respect him a lot for not always going with the "hollywood hunk" image and doing a role that he's really proud of. That being said, its not like he looks average. I mean if you look at the pictures he's still got the Bradley Cooper good looks, its not like he suddenly is not hot. In the article it says "I wonder what his girlfriend Suki Waterhouse thinks about this" Bitch betta still like him! I'm not saying she wouldn't at all, but I feel like its dumb of the article to say that. I get that its for fun, but its kind of offensive to assume everyone is just that shallow. I wouldn't like that if I were Suki, just saying.
So yeah, basically guys, Bradley Cooper can gain 40 pounds and still be hotter than you! lol. That was kind of shallow... but that was funnier I think, so it was okay. And also true. lol.
6) Kerri Washington gave birth to a baby girl 2 weeks ago! - I was just wondering when she would be having her baby! Kerry and her husband Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed baby Isabelle to the world on April 21st. I'm so happy for Kerry and her husband. I just think that she is so beautiful and she seems to be so nice as well. I remember someone was on some talk show with Kelly Ripa and I don't exactly remember what happened, but they got to talking about Scandal. And Kelly just started saying "ohh I love Kerry Washington. I'm so happy that Scandal got nominated for an emmy and renewed for a second season." And she said that it's nice when nice things happen to good people. That's always made me like Kerry Washington a little bit more because Kelly Ripa must think a lot of her to go on like that when she wasn't even on the show! Kelly doesn't need to suck up to her, she didn't really have to talk about Kerry or Scandal at all, but she made sure to and she really went above and beyond in complimenting her. I'm not a huge fan of Kelly Ripa or anything, but just when I hear a celebrity speak so highly of another celebrity, I tend to think that they really deserve their praise. Kerry is amazing on Scandal and now that she has another job of being a wife and mommy, I think she'll just be sooo soo happy and I'm happy about that.
I also am kind of going to miss her being pregnant. I feel like Red Carpet Maternity clothes were MADE for her pregnancy! She had quite a lot of red carpet events during her pregnancy and she looked absolutely amazing at all of them and I think her baby bump will always be famous for its fashion alone.
7) Louis CK complains about the common core on twitter- Comedian Louis Ck was helping his daughter do her math homework and was frustrated at the questions. He took pictures of twitter showing how stupid they all were and everyone agreed! He claimed that he didn't have a problem with either of his girls teachers, he said that he does really like the teachers. He was just against the system. He said that his girls used to love math but because of the common core. He knows that the teachers don't want to teach this way and that its the testing and all the bullshit behind the school's curriculum and stuff that makes these kids go crazy when they're doing their homework. And its true.
They're also having kids learn different things wayyyy too young. I had a friend that works at a school tell me that kids in 1st grade already have to memorize their times tables. That kind of sucks. In first grade you should be learning to read and spell. Now some schools don't even have spelling, which is complete BULL! I had to suffer through spelling and I'm a better person because of it, those damn kids should have to also. They should do spelling, library and grammar... I don't think the schools I went to do that any more even!
One thing they do need to teach better is percents. That's something I never understood when I was taught in elementary school, it wasn't brought up again until I was in high school and I still didn't get it. And then in college I think I got it, but forgot immediately after I was done with that class. My manager told me how to do it when I was at work one day, and that is pretty much how I've learned.
8) Teen takes a selfie with a squirrel...then is attacked by squirrel-That's just one of the risks of taking selfies in the outdoors! You never know what sort of wildlife you'll find out there. Or if that Wildlife likes your selfie and wants to be in it or not. I guess that squirrel really hated instagram. I think this is funny. The kid was on the news before, and it didn't seem like he was hurt at all. I thought that it was a skunk in the background and not a squirrel. I think that would have been funny, if he was taking a selfie and then got skunked and fell or something. He was just in his back yard on like a deck or something, he wasn't really "out in the wilderness" but still. Be careful where you selfie kids!
9) Ben Affleck banned from a casino for counting cards-This is probably my favorite news headline ever. Except for the next one... which we will get to. I'm hoping it was for a film role or it happened before he was famous or something. I mean I can understand wanting to count cards if you could just to see if you could do it... but come on Ben Affleck. You don't need the money, you don't have to be counting those cards! Also if its for a film role... I'm guessing getting caught isn't a great sign of how he will do in the part. I mean if he were a really good actor he probably wouldn't have gotten caught. I'm a little skeptical about him playing the new Batman... I mean it's probably not that bad of a sign... but Michael Keaton wouldn't have gotten caught. Just sayin!
10) Man accused of robbing waffle house with... a pitchfork!!!!- THIS IS SOOO FUNNY! I didn't mean to hit caps there, but ohhh my gosh, this is too funny! I mean if you're going to rob any restaurant, Waffle house would not be my first choice... that just seems like its starting out kind of trashy, and then to rob it with a pitchfork! Like yeah, what other weapon would you use to rob a waffle house! I'm not trying to say anything bad about the south... but I mean its not like this would happen anywhere other than the south. Robbers everywhere else I think would use a weapon other than a frickin pitchfork to rob a store.
