This is something else I find weird. It's an ad featuring kids getting bullied, they give the kids swirleys and hang them by the flagpole and the kids getting bullied are singing about how they will be the bosses of the cool kids someday. Honestly, this is what I always knew as a kid getting bullied. I already felt like I was better than the kids bullying me. I didn't really care that they were rich or super popular, it was a group of really dumb and really ugly boys to be perfectly honest. At least one of them has gone to jail already... So I mean there is some truth to it. But after seeing the ad, it isn't really anti bullying. It shows how the bullies are bullying the kids and instead of the "nerds" being upset they just say that they'll be the "cool kids" boss someday. The "cool kids" look like they're having fun bullying the "nerds" and there are no consequences at the time... So that to me does not show anti bullying. It says "hey maybe don't pick on that kid because they might be your boss one day." I feel like bullies don't care. They pick on kids that are smarter than they are... They should realize that they'll be more authoritative as an adult and could be a future boss of theirs. It's not something they're going to stop if it looks that fun.
Another thing I think I noticed in the ad... I'm actually going to rewatch it just to double check- is that there are no girls in the commercial. Okay there is one girl being bullied by a group of other girls... But I feel like they are ignoring a bigger situation. There are lots of girls that are bullied, not just by other girls, but as I said before by boys as well. I think they should show more of that also because that can really mess up a girls self esteem. I know Lauren Paul has a charity against girl-on- girl bullying and I think that's great and really inspirational. I feel like an ad for her charity maybe would have been better than this.
Also I think peoples main problem with it is that it makes light of a very serious situation. There are kids killing themselves over being bullied and a lot of kids just laugh at that fact. I remember one day I was having a really bad day because of something stupid that happened in gym class- that for the record I was right about- and boys were making fun of me for that and they thought that I was going to do something drastic and violent towards myself or them and they were kind of just laughing off my anger... Which you shouldn't do. They should have realized I was upset and should have stopped if they thought I was going to hurt them or myself. I think I heard one of them say "ohh Betty's probably going to kill herself" or something like that (they called me Betty because of Ugly Betty. Which was a good show, so whatever.) but don't just laugh that off and keep picking on someone. Don't encourage them to laugh off the situation because I think the bullies will think more "ohh that's hilarious they farted on that kids face" rather than "ohh that's hilarious that nerd is going to be my boss one day and treat me bad because of that."
Also one more thing, on the view I think they were saying is this unfair because it's causing the nerds to be bullied later in life... And to that I feel like it's justified. If I had someone that I went to high school or grammar school working for me, I would absolutely know that they do not deserve a raise and should be the lowest level employee possible. I mean I know these people, they aren't smarter than me, they wouldn't be above me and they shouldn't be treated like they're better than they are.
You can't fix stupid, so they'll just always be the scum of the scum. I can see when people grow up,
but for the few people I actually legitimately hate and wish the worst for, they probably would not have. I mean I probably would fire them immediately and notput them through torture, but still.
Also I think I'm going into comedy and I don't think our paths will cross for the most part sooo yeah.

P.S- this started out as part of my "stuff that happened this week" but I got on a bit of a tangent on this and decided to do a whole blog entry about this itself. I'm probably going to continue to do this with other news headlines... Especially the next couple weeks cause my classes end and I have a lot to do!
