Scribbles About Movies: Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

Alright last day before Blogmas! This is exciting! I don't have much ready for Blogmas on this blog yet, not even going to lie. Lol. Anyway... Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them! I wasn't really expecting this movie to be amazing. I kind of had a low bar set because even though it is in the same world as Harry Potter, and its fun to go back to the Wizarding World... but its not Harry Potter. It wouldn't be the same, it wouldn't feel the same... its not the same. 5 movies is going to be too much, it just won't be as good. And I was SOOOOOOO happy that I was proven wrong! This feels more like Harry Potter to me than a lot of the Harry Potter movies. And I think thats because JK Rowling actually wrote the screenplay for this movie and she's writing/ has written the screenplays for the other movies as well! So that gives me high hopes for the future of these movies. There is also nothing to compare the movie to. The book didn't really have a plot...

Random Haul: Target Dollar Spot, 5 Below, Dollar Tree and Barnes And Noble

Okay... I've been wanting to do this for a while, and now its gotten more of a collective haul... so here is everything! I'll try to take pictures of what I can! Target Dollar Spot  They had a bunch of adorable things for Christmas... so I had to get some! First and kind of least interesting, I got a portable phone charger. They had a gold one that I thought was really nice. I don't know where it is right now... it doesn't hold a charge for very long, that's the only kinda crappy thing about it. So if your phone is on low low battery... it might only get it halfway charged... but for $5 or $3 or whatever it was ... that's not the worst. It comes pre-charged and it has a cord where you can charge it and use it again. It's okay... if you need something, its not bad for the price. I also got a phone case. I kind of love it, its clear, but it has gold glitters that slide down from one side to the other... its fun to watch and play with. I feel like its ac

Chart Chat! 11/28/16

Alright... I'm a little surprised at this week's chart chat... but let's just jump into it! I'm also super tired... so I feel like this will be an abridged top 10! 10) The Edge of Seventeen I want to see this... but I'll probably wait till its on TV. It looks good... but there are so many movies out right now and this doesn't seem like one that you need to see in theaters the way I think Fantastic Beasts or even Moana is. 9) Hacksaw Ridge - Sounds good... but too serious compared to the kids movies at the top of my "To See" list. Lol. 8) Almost Christmas- Probably not a bad movie... probably won't see it because again... it looks sad!Just realized I don't need an Again here... I wrote this list backwards... so that's why some of my phrasing doesn't make much sense. Again I'm getting ready for a nap. 7) Bad Santa 2- I never saw the original Bad Santa... I probably should someday but its so sad its not really on the top of my

Weekly Wrap Up Thanksgiving Edition: 11/27/16

Favorites  I honestly don't remember my favorites... this week was kind of a blur... so let's just kinda wing it? The Middle- I thought that this weeks episode of The Middle was good. It was sad... but good. I was surprised that they kind of "went there" with the Axl and April story... but I liked it! Charlie Brown Thanksgiving- I love this! It's so cute to see Snoopy cooking up "Thanksgiving dinner." I love it! Simply Christmas by Leslie Odom, Jr.- I listened to this while cleaning the bathroom. Really good! Definitely like it a lot! Life Scribbles -Monday I went grocery shopping with my Mom at a place called Delicious Orchards... I think they don't usually open on Mondays... but they're pretty crazy the Monday before Thanksgiving... and yeah. They were packed. We also went to Target and some other grocery stores. I ate Onion Soup... it was a good day.  -Tuesday I think I ate food again... lol. -Wednesday I helped my mom cle

November 2016: It List

Here are some of my favorites this month! 1) Late Night TV- So after the events of the election... I figured I would watch as much Late Night TV as I could... so I've been trying to watch just about every show. My favorite is Stephen Colbert... so far. I also really like John Oliver though. Seth Meyers and James Corden are really funny. I like Jimmy Fallon a lot. I started watching Samantha Bee too... so yeah. That is a lot of late night tv... I will probably watch more just because its easy and its fun... and a good way to keep up with the news in a satirical way. If you want a lighter satire I'd say Jimmy Fallon and the... darkest satire is probably Sam Bee or John Oliver because they're on cable and can kind of tell it like it is. 2) Sugar Cookie Egg Nog- I almost don't want to even mention this because its hard to get and its really really good... we've been buying as many as we can when we see it... so if you live in Central Jersey... sorry for the low stoc

Thanksgiving Thoughts

So I didn't really know what to post today... so I'm just going to do a whole Thanksgiving thoughts things. 1) Stovetop Stuffing is The Best  My mom used to make real stuffing and actually stuff it... but my sister and I always prefer Stovetop. That's just what we're used to and we really like it! I think something about it being stuffed inside of the Turkey just grossed me out when I was a kid... and that's when I was like "Yeah I'll just have stovetop." 2) Why the heck do they make Election Day and Thanksgiving in the same month?  That's just bad planning. 3) I've grown to really appreciate the Thanksgiving Day Parade I don't know  why... I just really like watching the parade. I'm not a big parade person, but I really like the Thanksgiving Day Parade! It's fun to see the musicals and all the stars and singers too. I don't think Fall Out Boy or Panic At The Disco are on this year though! That makes me a little sad.

Scribbles About Movies: Cars 3 Teaser Reaction+ Thoughts

So I wasn't really planning on doing this... but EVERYONE is talking about the new teaser for Cars 3... and I needed to do this after watching the  teaser . Slight warning: This teaser involves a Car Wreck where the car spins around and looks pretty bad. If you have children... maybe wait until the official trailer comes out, I was a sensitive kid, this would have made me cry. Also if you are an adult that has been in a car accident... this could be kind of triggering. People get PTSD after being in bad car wrecks... this could easily trigger something in a lot of adults too... it is a little hard to watch. Cars are scary. I'm guessing they are showing this before Moana and maybe Rouge One... Just be careful if you are going to see any movies in the near future. If you see animated cars, it might be a good time to look away or leave the theater for about a minute. So yes... this starts out normal. All the cars are racing, it looks like its rainy out, Lightening McQueen take

Waking up blog- SHOCKING!?!?!?!

Just woke up a little while ago and on Facebook I saw there was a headline that said "SHOCKING PHOTOS OF ABANDONED MALL!" Really? How is something shocking when you tell us what it is right in the title? I don't understand that. And while there is something kinda cool about seeing abandoned malls... its also nothing that shocking. Have you ever been to the mall before stores were opened? Its kind of like that only empty and a little scarier because lots of people go to abandoned malls. But its like picture a glass filled to the brim. Now picture that glass empty. Shocking! Idk I feel like if I was like Pictures of my dog: Shocking! You might be shocked at how cute he is. But still. Bye! -Shannon

Is Kanye onto something? - Before Bed Blog.

Hey guys its the before bed blog... hope you liked it! Bye! -Shannon Lol jk. I almost did that and then I was like "This reminds me of Kanye." And now I'm thinking Kanye's craziness has some sort of substantial impact on the universe and that the universe needs Kanye's Kanye-ness in order to survive. Maybe the earth would stop spinning if Kanye was suddenly like "Yeah... I have nothing to say about this at all... and Jay Z and Beyonce had nothing to do with it." I feel like he's onto something... and maybe its not that anything he's said is right... cause I kind of don't think that... but its just sooo crazy it must be true. So yeah... maybe he's onto something. You know the world is a weird place when you're like "Maybe Kanye is onto something." But no... probably not.

Scribbles About Music: Joanne by Lady Gaga

After Lady Gaga's last cd... I was a little bit underwhelmed. I was hoping this one would be a lot better or at least a little bit better... lol. And I was really impressed with this! It was a little different for Gaga. It still had the sexy-edginess that Gaga is known for... but its more of a chill cd that you can have in the background while doing just about anything... its good blogging music basically. I like having it on in the background when I write for blogs and that's kind of how I've been listening too it. It works and I like it a lot! So I think my favorite song is the one with Florence from Florence and the Machines in it... I wasn't really expecting their voices to work so well together. Florence has a very distinct and unique voice and style. Gaga went a little in that direction with this album. I also kinda like when she does songs that are almost a country songs. John Wayne is a good example of that, Grigio girls... I think what I loved about Born Th

Chart Chat 11.21.16

So I figured I'd do this a third week in a row... because why not? Lol. 10) Shut In- This is a horror movie with Naomi Watts... which is a good combo! I liked Naomi Watts in The Ring and I just think that's something she does really well. There aren't many actresses I'm like "Wow they can do serious movies... but they're so great in thrillers!" She is one of them! Jodi Foster, and Natalie Portman I think are other good examples... but yeah. This is probably a good movie. Not doing super great on the charts as this is its 2nd week out... but it has tough competition. 9) The Accountant- Again... no idea what this movie is about... almost got spoiled... I want to see it, but its going to be hard to actually review something that I can't talk about without spoiling too much. I'm sure its good. Ben Affleck again is good with thrillers... and I'm thinking this is a thriller... but yeah! It looks good! 8) Bleed For This- This has Miles Teller, w

Weekly Wrap Up 11/20/16

Favorites  Late Night TV- As I've mentioned... I'm trying to watch as much late night TV as I can  lately... this week I've watched The Late Show, The Late Late Show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. I mostly have them on in the  background  while I do other stuff. Late Night and The Late Late show I try to watch live... but most of it I try to have on while blogging or cleaning my room or doing my makeup. Right now The Late Show is on while I'm writing this. I still want to watch Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, some more Seth Meyers... probably Bill Mahr and Samantha Bee too. It's a good time for Late Night TV.  How To Get Away With Murder- Wow... That Winter Finale... Wow! That's all I'll say... it was pretty shocking. I did a whole post on it yesterday... so just know it was pretty great.  Life Scribbles Monday I went out to lunch with my mom... I think I went to Harmon and Starbucks too... yep that was t

Scribbles About TV: How To Get Away With Murder Winter Finale Review/ Reaction+ SPOILERS

Last season I was totally unimpressed with How To Get Away With Murder... and this year it has just been amazing me! Since the very first episode of the season too... it was just sooo good. And I thought that they were really going to bait and switch us. Having us all pumped all season long for one of the students that we've been following all series died and then they pick someone like Simon or Oliver... or even Nate to die... but no. They went with the main character, our window to the world of How To Get Away With Murder... and the hottest guy on the show: Wes. I was actually gasping when it all happened. First off: I always watch the show with my mom... and she fell asleep! Can you believe that? She fell asleep RIGHT BEFORE THE REVEAL! She was even the one to kind of make me watch the show because we missed the last couple episodes. Really mom? I wasn't going to tell her... but I had to. Lol anyway back to the show... so I was gasping and when they were like "He

Scribbles About TV: American Horror Story Roanoke Finale+ Unanswered questions, Thoughts on the season, and Predictions for Next Year

Last night was the American Horror Story Roanoke Finale... and I thought it was great! I loved the connection between Lana and Lee... which I probably wouldn't have thought of otherwise... I loved the whole storyline. The end was good... This I think had one of the more grim endings than any other season of American Horror Story... even though it was still happy for the most part... it reminded me a lot of the Asylum finale because that had kind of a grim ending too... and I guess Lee and Lana are similar characters so that makes sense. One part that I kind of loved was the Paleyfest clip. It was almost a relief to see all the characters together again... and it told a lot with telling very little... which is similar to how the entire season went. People loved Lee and believed Lee, just like I believed her at the beginning of the season. We see that Shelby and Matt aren't sitting next to each other... which seemed like it was a nod to them having marital problems. We also see

Why Advertising is Important

I think it was yesterday I mentioned that there was an inclusivity lately... especially with advertising... and it just makes me think ads have come such a long way. When I was in my Women's Studies class, we actually looked at older advertisements that were sexist... there were a lot of racist ones... and it was upsetting... but I think we've gotten further and are actually awesomely inclusive in their advertisements. Take Covergirl for example. They have quite a diverse group of people represented in their ads. Ellen Degeneres, Queen Latifa and Sofia Vegara are all over 35, which is cool. Queen Latifah and Ellen are Lesbians... and it was sort of a stereotype when Ellen was starting that lesbians weren't really "Covergirls." I think that's kind of cool. Ingrid Nielson, Katy Perry, Janelle Monae, Pink, Zendaya, Nura Afia,Amy Pham, and James Charles. Nura Afia is the first covergirl that wears a hijab and James Charles is the first male covergirl! That is

Scribbles About Music: Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying by Fall Out Boy (From Under The Cork Tree)

Alright... back to the actual titles of the songs! This should be fun! I don't think I ever actually knew the title of this song because I never really like it that much. This is one I kind of liked half the song but the other half I was just like "nahhh" and I don't remember which half exactly. I'm guessing the end with the scream-ness even though I just said I liked that in I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy. I'm kind of listening to this intently because I think this is one I usually listened to because I didn't dislike all of it... but it was always a song I didn't really like. The lyrics are fine... and the song is fine... but I don't know. Maybe I haven't gotten to the bad part yet... With the other song I don't like on this cd is that Patricks voice sounded weird and the song was a bummer... this song is kind of like that too. Ohh okay... I think I'm at the part I must not have liked and its the screamo-y part... I was ri

To-Do Listing

I decided to make a to do list of things to do in the near future... hopefully mostly by the weekend. I feel like I always have a To- Do list and I get into the habits of doing to-do lists and then just ignoring them completely, going off books and just living my life... so yeah. I also always switch notebooks. I'll have one notebook totally devoted to a schedule and then I'll just see another notebook and start writing in there instead. I also have a bunch of notebooks with all sorts of weird things written in them. Some are diaries, some are just notes of all sorts of things... schedules. It is a weird, weird habit. But I do like crossing things off of to-do lists and I really like writing things down. I'm not really committed to any of them or any format... but yeah. That's just what I've been doing lately... so yeah. Goodnight!

Did you know everything you read online is 100% True???? Also Good things that happened.

Well, its not! You know why? I read it online! If you remember I used to do a blog post called "Scribbles About News" and I stopped. I think it was because one time all the news I was reading/ hearing was bad. And then I never picked it up again because it was hard to talk about while being respectful... and I wasn't doing it for the reasons I wanted to. I wanted to start talking about good things that happened throughout the week, like not too long ago a kid saved his allowance to buy lunch for the Police Officers in his area. That's the stuff I like hearing about and the stuff I wanted to talk about. So why did I not end up reporting those stories? I forgot them! With all of the crappy stuff that happened, I just couldn't remember the good stuff... and that shouldn't happen. I think even with all the horrible stuff in the world... it is a good place. Sure we live in a world with Ryan Lochte... but you know who else is a person? Lin Manuel Miranda! And th

I started Meditating? Here's what happened!

So I started meditating kind of by accident. Did I tell the weird story about meditation the other day? That will be another post if I didn't.... cause last Wednesday was a weird day aside from the obvious reasons. Anyway, for whatever reason I was looking up Spa Sounds and I found a youtube page called "The Honest Guys" and they had a pretty video going through clouds and that was good... but it was 3 hours and I don't think that's my thing. Then I found  this  video and decided to use it... so I did, and I came up with a cute little story kind of... it isn't finished, but there were characters and there was something to go by with the story. Its a start. I wrote it down in my notebook after and I got a little bit further in writing it. Its a good way to start doing something, so if you're looking to start writing something... even if you don't know what to write about... I'd recommend a guided meditation. There was something else like this I

The Thanksgiving Tag!

I haven't done a tag in a while... so here is one that I found right  here .  1. What is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? Hmmm tough choice... but I really love Stovetop Stuffing. I think I've blogged about this before... I don't care how fancy your stuffing recipe is... chances are I will like Stovetop better. My mom also makes great Sweet Potatoes with walnuts on top... so yummy!  2. What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Hmmm I feel like this always changes. My sister makes a really good pumpkin Tres Leche cake... and anything my cousin Amanda cooks. She is a professional chef, so whatever she makes is just amazing. I have a feeling she might be working this year... which is sad, but she's amazing!  3. What does your ideal Thanksgiving outfit look like? I like Sweater dresses. It's fancy but you can still wear leggings so its still comfy.  4. What is your best Thanksgiving memory? When I was like 5 I believe my parents and my sister and I wen

Do we all deserve respect? Or does it need to be earned?

Whenever I think of respect, I think of it as something that has to be earned... but then I started over-thinking it and wondering if it was something that actually had to be earned, or if its something that all people actually deserve because of human rights and stuff.  I think its the human rights answer. I mean... yeah. I think there are certain things you have to respect about everyone. Personal space is a good example. I think this always comes to mind because one time I was on a train and it was packed and I was with my parents and we were already in a cramped seat and then another couple joins us and the woman was very rude while asking to join us... she said "well are you gonna move or what?" To me... and I should have said "Or What" because that was very disrespectful. Not only was she kind of disrespecting my personal space (although she wouldn't have anywhere to sit otherwise) but she was also rude about it... and I didn't deserve that disrespe

Chart Chat! 11/14/16

This is kinda the same stuff as last week... but yeah. 10) Inferno- This is why Tom Hanks was David S. Pumpkins... I said I had literally no interest in it... but if it brought David Pumpkins... its a good movie just for that. 9) Jack Reacher: Never Go Back- I feel like Tom Cruise is the reason Daniel Craig wasn't a great Bond...Mission Impossible and Jack Reacher are good... even though I've seen them. And I've never seen most of the Bond movies... idk Tom Cruise wouldn't be a good Bond either, but I feel like the comparison lessened the Bond movies! 8) Boo! A Madea Halloween- I wanted to see this... but I probably won't. It looks really funny though! 7) Shut In- This has Naomi Watts in it... Usually movies with Namoi Watts are really good! 6) The Accountant- This will probably be good. I mentioned last chart chat that people talked about it in sort of a mysterious way... I like Ben Affleck in mysterious movies, so that makes me happy. 5) Hacksaw Ridge-

Weelkly Wrap Up 11.13.16

This is an interesting Weekly Wrap up this week if ever there was one... But yeah... here we go!  Favorites  The Late Show with Stephen Colbert-  I think over the next 4 years... I'm probably going to watch just about every late night tv show out there... because if there is a silver lining to the next four years, its comedy. And thats what I want to do. I would love to have a late night show. A lot of people would probably hate me. Lol. But yeah, Colbert has been really great. I've been watching segments on youtube and then on Wednesday I watched it live.  Lin Manuel Miranda- Specifically I've been listening to the Hamilton Soundtrack all week pretty much. Its very relevant in this day and age. I just think Lin Manuel Miranda is brilliant. I'm really excited to see Moana. I've been reading Hamilton: The Revolution and reading his side notes and getting an input on his writing process. Its interesting how he put the musical together. He's brilliant. H

Scribbles About Food: Bahrs Oktoberfest Menu

Since I'm doing more restaurant reviews, I thought I'd do one a little more local for me. Bahrs landing is a historic seafood restaurant in NJ. Close to the Atlantic Highlands ferries, so if you are coming into Jersey from NY or about to leave NJ for NY... this isn't too far away! And it has a lot of good food in general... and I'll probably review some of the other things... but my favorite is the Oktoberfest Menu. As much as I like seafood, and as fresh as their seafood is... sometimes in the winter I don't want seafood and this menu is really good for winter. And I think you can get seafood from this menu... but that isn't what I'll be talking about today! Appetizers  They have giant pretzels! I like theirs... I didn't eat a lot when we ordered this last time because I had a pretzel with a different app that I had... but it was really good. I think it came with some sort of cheese... not totally sure. It was big and fun to share... so that's

Scribbles About Food: Charley's Philly Steak- Cheesesteak and Bacon Cheese Fries Combo

So I just had this for lunch today and it was really good. It wasn't huge, but it was filling and it wasn't a bad price either for the amount of food your getting. My mom and I both got the same thing and it was $20 and a penny for the 2 of us... so not bad. What we got came with a small cheesesteak, the gourmet fries (you could get plain too and its a little less money) and a drink. So the cheesesteak is just the regular thin steak, white american cheese and then it comes with peppers, onions and mushrooms. Usually I'd ask for it without the extras... but it was busy and it seemed like a better idea to just get it as is. And it wasn't too bad. It wasn't the most amazing flavorful cheesesteak I've ever had... but it was really yummy and I would get it again. This was inside a mall in the food court, and I would say it might be the best food court food you can get. the cheese was really good. The bacon was yummy... everything just came out delicious. And to

Scribbles About Music: Fall Out Boy From Under The Cork Tree- Track 11

Yeah I'm keeping the "Track number" titles of these because this sounds like a juicy story if you don't know the song. It's "A little less Sixteen Candles, a Little More 'Touch Me'" so... yeah. This is one of my favorites from the cd too. Maybe one of the ones that made me accidentally like Fall Out Boy as well. And last week I kind of said I sped up my writing because I didn't want to listen to the song again... this time I'm kind of slowing down because I want to hear the song again and again... so that's cool. This is a catchy one... just stays in your head all day. It sounds like a super happy song but its kind of a good breakup song. It also seems like a good "Hey let's win the girl song" too. I remember posting "I don't blame you for being you, but you can't blame me for hating it" lyrics after a breakup. Its just a good one. The music video for this is also really fun. Especially since th
