Man Crush Monday: Aziz Ansari (Parks and Rec Week)

(this pic shows exactly how I look at art. Lol)

1) His comedy is really unique because its a bit of everything- Aziz always does things like talk about pop culture, he name drops, he talks about his family, talks about dating, tells stories that he makes up, he talks about food, he sings... he just does a little bit of everything and he does it really really well. I think his first comedy special... Intimate Moments or something that its called really shows that. He even does an over-the top Dane Cook-type comedian thats supposed to be bad and he does it really good! He even told one joke as Randy, the character he does (from the movie Funny People) and one just as Aziz and its so funny to see the difference between the way he tells the same joke. Its something not a lot of people can do, and he does it brilliantly because he can do a little bit of everything.

2) He pokes fun at himself- He doesn't poke fun at himself too much, but he's okay with poking fun at himself and being both this super confident guy and this guy thats kind of like "meh I'm just a regular guy" type of thing. Its a very smart kind of balance the way that he pokes fun at himself. Like during the Roast of James Franco, everyone was saying he wasn't that famous and that he hated not being that famous and he was just laughing it off. And its funny because he laughed the way I laugh when I'm watching Stand Up live... I actually slap my knee and I pretty much laugh my face off. Its really just funny. Idk I thought that was kind of cool.

3) He's good at insulting people, but in a fun way- His joke about 50 cent not knowing what a grape fruit is is just awesome. And a lot of his act is poking fun at celebrities that he really admires and poking fun at his little cousins and its funny but not too mean spirited or anything. His stand up is a lot like his character on Parks and Rec if you think about it. Tom Haverford is confident, but has his insecure moments where he does sort of doubt himself in a funny way. He makes fun of Ben, Leslie and Jerry a lot, but in a very loving way... and he references pop culture a lot. So yeah, if you like Tom Haverford and haven't seen Aziz's standup... you should!

4) He can actually act- There are some comedians that just can't carry a show. They aren't actors and its just kind of hard to watch them when they are on a tv show. Aziz can actually hold a TV show and probably movies too... I haven't actually seen him in many movies, but he can actually act on Parks and Rec and thats something that really not a lot of comedians can do with every role. A lot of people sort of need the right role for them too, and I think Aziz does do the right roles for himself... but at the same time I think he actually can act. So that makes him a little more man-crushable.

5) He's actually friendly with the cast and writers of Parks and Rec- I feel like that makes him a little more down to earth than most famous people. He wrote a really beautiful tribute to Harris Wittels after his passing, and you could really grasp how great their friendship was together. Nick Offerman also mentioned him when I saw his standup act a couple years ago. I think he helped convince Nick Offerman to join twitter. Overall he just seems like a nice guy and a good friend to all of his co-workers. He might play a bit of a diva on Parks and Rec, but he seems like a really nice and genuine guy in real life... which is always nice to know in Hollywood.

Hope you guys liked this Man Crush Monday. I kind of like to think of these more as "profiles" on different awesome famous people and why I like them more than a "crush" type of thing... but Aziz is super cute... so that is a thing.

This is also the start of my Parks and Rec week... pretty much every post on this blog this week will have something to do with Parks and Recreation because I love it, its my favorite show and its ending and that sucks.

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
