Favorite Halloween TV Shows

So there are some shows that have better halloween episodes than others and some shows that are fun to watch around halloween. X-Files- This was a great show. I wanted to do Throwback Thursday on this for Halloween, but I didn't get time. This is a spooky show, its about aliens. Its just good overall! Especially around halloween if you want something scary, but any time of year. Community- Community had some great halloween eps! Probably my favorite halloween episodes of recent years... its just really funny for halloween episodes. Sleepy Hollow- Just kind of getting into this show, but its a good one and is a good thing to watch on halloween. Once Upon A Time- If you're more into the "Disney Villain" halloween scary, this is like a grown up version of that. New Girl- I don't remember all their halloween eps, but the episode last year was really good. American Horror Story- Duh! Brooklyn 99- This is a good one! I really like this show overall but it

Scribbles About Movies- Horror Movies: Good and Bad

So I haven't seen a whole lot of Horror movies, but I feel like I've seen enough to know what is good and what is bad... so I'll share it with you. Sleepaway Camp- This is my favorite horror movie ever... if not one of my favorite movies ever. It is insanely bonkers with the best twist ending ever pretty much. It's wayyyy out of left field... I mean there are clues if you watch it a second time... but holy shit. This movie is fantastic and I highly HIGHLY recommend it. Shutter- This one is a weird one. I saw it so long ago, but it kind of sticks out in my mind. It's definitely worth a watch, Joshua Jackson is really hot but he is incredibly creepy in this movie. And he's kind of not exactly the worse villain in the world. The Grudge- I like Sarah Michelle Gellar and this wasn't a bad movie... but it didn't scare me all that much. It was a little creepy, but mostly it just dragged on and on and I had no idea what the hell was happening. The Grudge

Shannon Goes Viral: Halloween Edition 2014!

It is time to go viral... but this time I'm going a little more scary viral with HALLOWEEN VIDEOS! Its not gonna be that scary... actually it might be. 1) Disney Villains "Counting Scars"- This is cute. It was a bunch of people dressed as the Disney villains doing a parody of One Republic's "Counting Stars." It was cute the villains were well-acted and I thought the scar part at the end was great. It was funny. 2) Men try on Women's Halloween Costumes- This is probably the sexiest video on the internet. Buzzfeed got a group of men to dress up in the "sexy" women's costumes. These costumes include, Sexy Ladybug, Sexy Firefighter and Sexy Girl Scout. It was really funny... the costumes are ridiculous for women, but for men they look even more ridiculous. Also the guys were hot and seeing them in the "sexy costumes" was oddly hot, in my opinion at least. Fun to watch! 3) Thriller sung in 20 different styles- So this guy named

Halloween 2014 It List!

I wanted to share my Halloween favorites... but I thought why not do it like an It List... so that is what we have here today. 1) American Horror Story- I think we all know one of my favorites around this time of year especially is AHS... the episode this week was sooo soo good too. The legend of the guy with the demon face... I just thought it was particularly interesting. Not a lot of Twisty the clown, which I'm fine with... lol. It was still scary and really good all around though. All the seasons have fantastic halloween episodes especially. And season 1&3 are just good all around. 2) Addams Family Values- I love a good halloween movie, but Addams Family Values has to be my favorite ever. It is probably in my Top 10 favorite movies of all time... and I just think its super super funny. The first one is good too, but this is one of the rare movies where the sequel is wayyy better. Joan Cusak is amazing in it and you can tell she must have had a great time being the bad g

Man Crush Monday: Evan Peters

Since its Halloween week, I thought I would talk about the person all AHS fans are weirdly attracted to this MCM... EVAN PETERS! 1) He can play the good guy and the bad guy- One of the reasons I think its weird to be so attracted to him is that he can be both good and bad. In season 1 of AHS he was the bad guy that everyone kind of fell in love with because he was so good to Violet. But ultimately he was a very bad guy that did something very very bad (I don't really want to give spoilers... but if you haven't seen season 1 at least you probably have no interest in the series.) But then in season 2 he was really a good guy in a bad place. He was open minded and the aliens chose him for that reason. And in season 3 and from what it seems in season 4... hes not good or bad. He can really do good things. 2) I've never loved his storylines, but I think he does a great job- I like his characters... but I feel like he has very odd storylines that don't quite fit in with t

THIS WEEK IN TV (Week of 10/19)

Sunday  Once Upon a Time- I liked this weeks episode... but there were so many sad moments. Like Hook still being a bad guy a little bit... but he loves Emma so much that he might change. And there was Rumple being a really bad guy too. And Mickey Mouse was in it which was cool. I was happy to see a little more of Anna, but I don't like Anna as much as Elsa. Brooklyn 99-  Really good episode. It was a callback to last year's Halloween episode where Jake tries to steal Holt's medal, only this time he tries to steal his watch. They really did a good job of taking something they already did and making it really good and different a second time. It was similar to Arrested Development's "Pier Pressure" and "Making a Stand." So good. Just good TV all around. The Affair- Didn't actually catch this weeks ep. I'm sure it was good, I'll have to catch up tomorrow. Monday  Gotham- Really clever episode. I liked that there was even almost a

Scribbles About News: Breaking Bad Action Figures

So I usually do a Stuff That Happened this week type of post... but when I am writing this it is Wednesday and really nothing I like to talk about happened. There are some celebrity feuds, there is a fight between Andy Richter and Chelsea Handler because Chelsea made a fat joke about him (Andy Richter isn't even really fat.) Rene Zellwegger has a new face. For some reason people care about Blake Lively now that she's pregnant with Ryan Reynold's baby... and I don't really care about these things. What do I care about? Breaking Bad of corse! So Toys R Us sells action figures of Breaking Bad because they've always done things like that. They have grown up toys (I was going to say "adult toys" but that sounds quite dirty... )and I remember seeing a lot of horror movie action figures as a kid... so it makes sense to me that they would sell Breaking Bad Action figures. It isn't a kids toy, but its also a place for collectables and things of the like. It

Flashback Friday: Are You Afraid Of The Dark and Goosebumps

Sooo this week I thought I would do a little bit of a Halloween theme and compare some classic Children's Horror shows. I watched 3 episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark and half an episode of Goosebumps and I thought I would compare. I really wanted to watch So Weird also, but I couldn't find any episodes on youtube. Also this was supposed to be a Throwback Thursday... but I accidentally published my Sharp Objects review before... lol. So Are You Afraid of The Dark was kinda cool because it is scary for kids and it definitely seems like the stories are stories that kids would tell at sleepovers and camping and stuff like that. One of the episodes I watched was about a girl that went missing and another girl found her trapped inside of a doll house, another where there was a radio station to lead the undead to the afterlife (guest starring Sir Gilbert Gottfried) and another one where there were Golden Fortune Cookies that showed you what you wanted in life and the downfalls

Scribbles about Books: Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

After reading Gone Girl, I became a little bit obsessed with Gillian Flynn, so I had to get her other two books and read them right away also. I thought that they would probably be just as good as Gone Girl... but probably a little less messed up. Boy was I wrong about that.  This is a really good book. Really good. I love the characters and worlds Gillian Flynn creates... I'd have to say Gone Girl was quite an easy read and this is not at all an easy book to read. It is incredibly uncomfortable at times and the ending is very unsettling. I wanted to let my mom borrow it when I finished... but I don't want my mom reading this! It would probably make her cry. My mom is pretty much the nicest person ever, I'm not just saying that because she's my mom I'm saying it because she actually is. This book is not something I think she could read and it isn't for the faint of heart. It's really quite dark.  Where do I even begin with this... It starts out kind o

Woman Crush Wednesday: Ginnifer Goodwin

1) She's the perfect Snow White- I mean really! They could not have gotten a better Snow White! She looks like Snow, she seems very snow-ish and she's just like a real life princess. I think whoever did the casting for Once Upon A Time should be awarded or something. It is a hard thing to pull off recreating an iconic character, but I think Ginnifer Goodwin does a fantastic job of doing so. 2) She's been good in a lot of bad movies- Before Once upon a time, I was a fan of Ginnifer Goodwin... but there were no movies with her in it that I really liked. I didn't like Something Borrowed, I liked He's Just Not That Into You... but without Ginnifer it would have been bad. I think she was still really entertaining and fun to watch in these movies no matter how bad they are. She does a great job and she really does make a movie worth seeing, even if it isn't the best movie in the world. 3) I love her scenes with Charming on Once- This is a stupid and girlish thing

5 Things You Shouldn't Say To Writers

I feel like there are certain jobs you can want to do and majors you can have that people will just flat out criticize you for. Right to your face, and in inconvenient places. Writing is one of those things. 1) Ohhh you should think about teaching too- This is how the conversation always goes.  "Ohhh you're in college what are you majoring in" "English" "Ohhh so you want to be a teacher" "No I want to be a writer." 1) There are LOTS of things you can do with an English degree... and I'm going to play the feminism card here and say that because I'm a woman people assume I want to teach when I say I'm an English Major. There is nothing wrong with teaching, but that isn't the only thing you can do with an English Degree. You can write, you can teach, you can be a lawyer, a lot of famous actors are english majors. Also the reason I'm posting about this is one specific instance where someone mentioned that I should try teachi

Scribbles about TV: Jane The Virgin Review!

This I think is a surprise hit, so of corse I needed to watch it for myself to see! It's been getting a lot of critical buzz because it has been reviewed as "one of the best pilots of the season" and I also have been hearing a few critics saying that they don't think it will last because the word "virgin" is in the title... which is stupid. There is nothing wrong with being a virgin and if a show is good, its good and people should watch it... plus this did bring pretty high ratings for The CW so the critics that said that can suck it! Lol. Overall I really liked this show. One thing thats been bothering me a lot about the new Fall shows is that the characters aren't interesting enough. Especially the female characters. I thought that this showed a lot of really strong female characters that were interesting. This had a pretty big cast with A LOT of stuff going on for a pilot and most of the characters were female. That is a powerful thing to see on TV

THIS WEEK IN TV- 10/12/14-10/16/14

Sunday 10/12 Once Upon a Time- So happy to see Regina back in a more prominent role. I loved her and Henry together trying to prove she's a good guy. I love that Robin Hood is back with her. I love that Emma is afraid to be with Hook. I love that Hook can tell when Rumple is lying... I really like the Snow Queen, although I kind of miss Zelena now. And yeah. It was quite good. The Affair- I just started watching this show yesterday (which was Saturday.) and I'm already super excited for the new episode. Especially now that I know there is sort of a twist... I'm writing this part at 9:16 if anyone was wondering, it comes on at 10 and I will write more about what I thought about the episode... but I just wanted you guys to know I'm pumped. I like this show a lot now and I'm excited for tonights episode. Goddamnit! It's the same episode I watched yesterday! I guess the premier is this week and not next week but they had a special preview on demand. That was d

This years Oscar Race For SURE!

I think we all know October is just a month before a month till the OSCAR SEASON BUZZ starts... and I think we have some great choices for some movies already. Let's revisit some of the great movies this year so that I can give you my pics of who will for sure win. Lets start it off with best supporting actress because we all know who gets this one. Kate Upton for The Other Woman obviously! I mean her lines and delivery were just... nailing it. She probably tried her hardest at acting more than anyone else in the entire profession. Now for best actor... I think this is going to be another tough call, but I have to say probably Aaron Paul for Need For Speed. How cool was that movie? And Aaron Paul's transformation from Jesse Pinkman to not Jesse Pinkman was just really good. I think he's totally going to get it guys! Best supporting actor will likely be one of the Muppets for the movie Muppets Most Wanted because they did such a great job with that. And I know there is

Stuff that happened this week- 10/12/14-10/18/14

1) The Mortal Instruments to become a tv show- The popular book series about... I have no idea what its about, is set to have a tv show maybe sometime in the future. I'm always skeptical about these things. I believe there was supposed to be a Delerium tv show that didn't end up working out. I think Emma Roberts was even in talks to star, but that didn't happen, there was supposed to be a show based on a book called Swamplandia and that never happened. I wouldn't hold my breath if you are a fan of the series, but I want to read the book and watch the movie, so I'm putting this as noteworthy news this week. 2) American Horror Story renewed for season 5- I was sort of questioning this. I think AHS could easily go on forever, but this year also marks the last season for the leader of the AHS gang, Jessica Lange. I think the show will definitely be hard to recognize without her, but I think it will still be as good... or bad as other seasons. The premier of Freakshow

It List: October 2014

This is my favorite month... and today is actually my favorite day of my favorite month because... IT BE MY BIRFDAY!!! I'm 23 today and I'm fuckin' excited! There have also been a lot of awesome things that have happened this month, so there's that too! 1) How To Get Away With Murder- Can we talk about this show for a second? Like can we. OHHHH MY GOD! It's 3 episodes in and I'm already absolutely hooked! It looks like tonight's episode will be even better! It just keeps getting better! I love it! You have to watch this show! Seriously watch and be amazed. 2) Gone Girl- I can't not mention one of the greatest movies ever! I loved the book, I love the movie... I'm happy that they did it so well because I wasn't sure how it would be honestly. I'm such a huge fan of the book it seems wrong to do a movie... but they did it soo soo right. Love it. 3) Sharp Objects- Speaking of Gone Girl, I've been reading Sharp Objects, which is by the s

Feminist Rant: They wouldn't do that to a Man...

So have you ever noticed things that aren't necessarily sexist... but its something that wouldn't happen if it were a man? I've been noticing that A LOT lately and I thought I would share it. First off: The show Selfie. This is not a terrible show: I reviewed it for this blog even and I said I liked it a lot... but its a very unrealistic show and I don't think people are getting that. Yes its a comedy and there aren't that many female-driven comedies today... but really the jokes are almost slightly offensive to women. Eliza is a powerful business woman that has a weird job description that involves social media... so she's on her phone a lot. But they show her on the phone checking Instagram or whatever during a meeting... really? Is it not absurd? And it doesn't sound offensive to women at all... but at the same time, I don't think that they would ever do that type of thing to a man. It wouldn't be the same type of thing... I'm not sure, I ma

Trailer Reviews: Horns, A Merry Friggin Christmas and more

1)A Merry Friggin Christmas- This is a movie that is going to make everyone sad because it stars Robin Williams, and I believe it is his final film role. This is really sad because its hard to ignore the tragedy of it all. Williams looks like he's playing a really funny role, his chemistry with Joel McHale looks on point, this looks like a Meet the Parents type of amazing movie... but its hard to think of this as such a great, feel-good, funny movie when we all know Williams was in a lot of pain whilst filming it. I think it looks good and I'll see it, but its just very real and soon right now. 2) Horns- This movie looks pretty awesome. I kind of want to read the book too. A man is accused of killing his girlfriend and he states that the devil should punish the real killer of his girlfriend... and then he grows horns. It also seems like a crazy small town where they jump to conclusions really quickly and that makes him look more guilty. Its got a gone girl vibe but with a bit

Scribbles About Movies: Movies I should probably watch

So I saw something about the Princess Bride on facebook... and I've never actually seen that movie... and I probably should, so yeah. This is just going to be a small list. The fact that I have seen the movie Jennifer's Body multiple times but haven't seen all of these is actually sad. 1) The Princess Bride-  I've seen so many bad movies and this is what a lot of people consider their favorite movie... and i still haven't seen it. 2) Moonstruck- Seriously! Of all the Nicholas Cage movies I have seen and loved, the one that actually won him an Oscar is not one of them! 3) The Shining- I've actually tried watching this movie and I wasn't fond of it... there was a lot going on and I was just like "no, no thank you" and it was kind of cool, but not scary. I should maybe give it another chance because its one of those movies that you should see, but come on! 4) Ghostbusters- As someone that wants to go into comedy some day... its a little embarr

This Week in TV- Balloon killer in Gotham, Ice Queen in Storybrooke, Freakshow Premier, and More...

Sunday- Once Upon A Time- I like Bo Peep as a villain, and the fact that she's the Butcher in Storybrooke is just so dark and grusome! I'm also starting to like Elsa a lot and I love seeing Mary Margaret as a frustrated and angry new mom. (I'm a sap for Snow and Charming because I love Ginnifer and Josh together in real life. Their scenes actually make me cry sometimes, and I'm not one to cry!) I thought Elsa's scenes with Emma were great, I liked the Evil Queen a lot too! I just don't like the idea of someone evil running an Ice Cream shop! Maybe Elsa can take it over. Also didn't love that there was not enough Regina! The Affair- This is a new show from Showtime that is on Sundays after Homeland. Dominic West aka McNulty from The Wire is the lead and it looked pretty good when I saw a commercial for it before Gone Girl. This is a super interesting show. First off I felt very connected to the characters from the beginning... but not only that, you get t

Stuff That Happened This Week-10/5/14-10/11/14

1) Blake Lively expecting first baby with husband Ryan Reynolds- I always like announcing Celebrity Baby news, especially when the celebrities are as attractive as Blake and Ryan. Lol. This is the first child for them both and I'm very happy for them. I liked Ryan and ScarJo together and their divorce was sad, but I'm happy that they've both found happiness and they have their own families now. Good for them! And congrats to Blake and Ryan! 2) Sony in talks to allow Spiderman to appear in Marvel films- Something missing from the Marvel Movies is of corse Spiderman... and since Sony owns Spiderman and Disney owns Marvel, it seemed impossible. But it's not maybe. I'm not sure how I feel about this... I hope they don't make another spiderman movie. They seriously need to wait a while before rebooting franchises from now on because its getting to the point where it just sucks and its sad. 3) Disney to have Animated Guardians of the Galaxy- This is a good move fo

Scribbles about Books: What's on my reading list?

So I thought this would be a fun way to let you guys know what I was currently reading and what I'll be reading next and whatnot. So right now I'm reading Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn because I was soo excited about the Gone Girl movie... I couldn't not read another great novel by Gillian Flynn! I also really like mysteries because I feel like they improve my memory and I think I'm just smarter when I read them, so I'm going to try to read them more often. I haven't read all that much of this yet but so far its really good. It's about this reporter that has to return to her home town to do a report on the murders of some children and missing children. Its interesting because the world is very similar to the world of Gone Girl. It's like a southern, run-down type of town... it's interesting. I find this appealing, especially since it goes from a city to the run down small town, similar to Gone Girl... and I just think Gillian Flynn is very interes

Throwback Thursday: Cobra Starship!

My absolute favorite band in high school... well besides Fall Out Boy... was Cobra Starship. I was and am in love with Gabe Saporta lol. I didn't think I would like their music as much now... but I was mistaken! I haven't relistened to Viva La Cobra just yet, but I really like Hot Mess and While the City Sleeps We Rule The Streets. Their first album is probably my favorite, but the others are good too! A few songs really stuck out to me as good. 1) The Church of Hot Addiction- This is always a favorite. It's kind of the sexiest song that exists... in my opinion lol. It's just plain hot, theres no other way to say it. The video is really funny also. Gabe falls in love with a Bunny... its good. They used to play this on a TGI Fridays commercial. Lol. Which is weird. 2) Being From Jersey Means Never Having to Say Your Sorry- This is a great first song of an album. And it leads into Hey Mr. Dj which is just such a good combo. Also I'm from Jersey, so I find this p
