Scribbles About TV: Girlboss

So I was really excited for this new series... mostly because I didn't know it was going to be out quite this soon... and I think they did a really good job with it! I don't know if they're planning on continuing with Season 2... I'd be happy if they did... but at the same time it would also make a great one-season show. It wrapped up really nicely... but there is more story to tell I'm sure and it's a story that is very cleverly told... so I would like to see more shows like this.

The show is about Sophia Amoruso, who is the founder of the online shop NastyGal, the writer of Girlboss and the host of the Girlboss podcast... she's also executive producer of the show and it is very loosely based of her life. It says that right at the beginning of the show that it's a real loose interpretation of what happened... so it was probably less entertaining... but still entertaining enough for Sophia to write enough because she's a girl boss and she did that and it's awesome!

Looking her up now she's also Greek... so now I definitely need her book! Lol. I'm super bad at finishing books... so don't count on that review too soon lol... but still!

Anyway so Girlboss... I liked the way that there wasn't that much of a plot to the show... I mean yeah it was all about Sophia starting this business and her life in San Fransisco on her way to success... but it's very character driven... the plot is just kind of "Okay... Sophia is presented with this problem and this is what she does to solve it!" And it isn't too structured... it's just kind of funny and just fun to watch. It wasn't the easiest thing for me to Bingewatch... but it was better than the last season of Grace and Frankie and I liked it more than The Santa Clarita Diet... which I did like a lot... but this is more my style... it's slightly relevant to my life and it's just a good show. You could probably watch it and finish the season all at once and not even really realize it. Lol.

I also thought the cast was really good. I loved the actress that played Sophia and Annie... I was kind of heartbroken over Shane because I do like that actor a lot. He's the boyfriend in Jennifer's Body and he's super hot and adorable... but... not to spoil anything... but I'm heartbroken from it all. That's all I'll say.

And it's just kind of cool that it takes place from 2006-2008... so it's enough to feel nostalgic... but it wasn't really all that long ago either.  The OC was still on, Ebay was still sort of a new thing... the web forum episode was kind of funny... Sophia's computer was fun to see. It was all stuff I would have thought was the coolest thing when I was younger... and now it still looks super cool even though it's all outdated.

The woman that played Rose on Two and A Half Men was on it as Sophia's Rival... I always thought she was super funny even though I'm not the biggest fan of Two and a Half Men... it's exciting to see someone good from a not so great show on a better show... I hope to see her in more stuff now... the same with the rest of the cast because as I said... they were perfect!

Dean Norris from Breaking Bad too! Sooo many good people in this show. Ru Paul out of drag... I know I recognize Nathan and the actress that plays his mom from some funny things... I think his mom was the dog walker on The King Of Queens. Norm MacDonald... lots of funny people!

I would highly recommend this one. I didn't know how much I liked it at first because I watched a couple episodes and I was like "Okay... I don't need to binge this." But then the next day I started watching more and now is the third day and I finished the last episode... and I'd probably watch it again. Maybe after I read the book... lol.

Hope you guys like it!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
