Shannon Goes Viral: The Find The Panda Meme

So recently in a viral meme trend is the Find The Panda meme. Its kind of like Where's Waldo, but with a panda.... This is going to just be sort of a review of the meme cause I have a sort of love/hate relationship with it and I feel like other readers of this blog might feel the same way.

Why I love it
I love Where's Waldo and I love the idea of using current pop culture to do a Where's Waldo. They have a find the Panda in the group of stormtroopers. There's a find the panda in a group of metal heads... its really fun and I can't wait to see what else they come up with. So far I've only seen those and the yearbook photo where someone is holding the panda. I think its a really fun idea to just hide the panda in anything you can think of. Whoever came up with these are really clever.

Why I hate it
Hate is a strong word really... but what I don't like about it is that it is less challenging than Where's Waldo. Maybe that's just for me... idk but I feel like they made it easier for adults and for the digital world. Where's Waldo has huge scenes with lots of colors and lots of characters and some red herrings and its just challenging to find Waldo. The Panda pictures aren't as challenging because the pictures aren't that big, there isn't as much going on in the background... everything is the same color, there are no real red herrings... or in contrast everything is a red herring and the pandas are all pretty big in comparison to the tiny drawings of Waldo. The only exception is the yearbook photo one has a tiny panda. Other than that... I feel like they could make something slightly more challenging.

And I'm not saying its easy to find the panda... I just don't think the people that made the memes are as committed to these things as the artists of the Where's Waldo books. For some people maybe because of the lack of color its more difficult. Maybe this will be a new learning test. Seeing if Where's Waldo or Find the Panda is more challenging. Maybe its like in high school where they say if you like this book you won't like the other one... but idk. For some reason I'm thinking us looking at screens trying to find a panda isn't good.

That being said... I also kind of don't want the magic eye pictures to make a comeback. I can never see the big picture. And when everyone looks at them they're like "you have to look at them without really looking at them and I'm like "huh?" I guess I can't look at something without really looking at it.

There is also a panda hidden in this post... can you find it.

PS- There is no panda hidden here.

Byeeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
