Scribbles About Broadway: Hamilton Soundtrack Review

So I know its not easy to get tickets to see Hamilton... but I've listened to the soundtrack a few times and I have enough of a feel for it. I didn't think I'd want to see it live because I'm not a big fan of rap and I can't always understand it... and I figured I'd listen to the soundtrack, and I'd get to know the music so that sometime if I ever can get tickets I will understand it better.

And listening to a soundtrack isn't quite the same as seeing a play... but it is pretty close. And its as close to seeing the play as I'll get for the time being. So right now, I feel like there are some things I didn't totally get, some characters I didn't really get to know very well that are probably featured more prominently in the play. There's a song about Burr's relationship with his child and there's mention of Eliza teacher Phillip how to play piano... and little things that I can't see so the characters aren't as well developed as they probably are in the play... but still just for a soundtrack, the characters are developed enough that it still made me very emotional for all of their stories. I think my favorite character is Angelica... I just loved her whole story. Such a talented singer too... I felt like I could feel for her and its so heartbreaking.

And I also cried when *SPOILERS* Phillip died. It was just very moving the way that they did everything. And I cried at the end too... I'm not a big cry-er... but I really felt for these characters just from the soundtrack. I probably wouldn't cry seeing it in theaters because there are more people... I'd feel weird doing that... but I could see it happening. Its totally legitimate and it is very emotional.

And the different influences of the music were very good too. Obviously it was influenced a lot by hip hop and rap music... but there's some classical and some pop in there too. There are some really great and funny songs by King George that are very pop-ish. He's kind of the comic relief. And it all flows nicely together. There are reprises and recurring tunes and phrases... I guess you could say... idk if that's the right way to say it, but you get what I mean.

I don't totally recommend listening to soundtracks if its a play you really want to see and you don't know the ending or anything and you want to be surprised by it. Like I wouldn't listen to the Something Rotten Soundtrack before seeing Something Rotten... but since this is a hard ticket to get... and it is all based on things that actually happened... there aren't really any spoilers.

Songs I'd recommend listening to if you still don't want to get spoiled are... Alexander Hamilton; Aaron Burr, Sir, The Schuyler Sisters; You'll be Back; The Ten Duel Commandments and Take a Break. Ohhh and My Shot.

My personal favorite songs are Aaron Burr Sir, You'll be back Helpless, Satisfied, Ten Duel Commandments, Take A Break, The Reynolds Pamphlet, Stay Alive (reprise) and My Shot. Favorite being Satisfied... I just really like Eliza and Angelica.

So those are my thoughts on that. Now I'm listening to the In The Heights Soundtrack... and I saw In The Heights Live... but I don't remember any of it... so maybe I'll do a review of that too. I might listen to some more soundtracks for things that are no longer on broadway or are hard to get to or something and review them here also... so there may or may not be a review on the In The Heights Soundtrack... we'll see!

So yeah... very brilliantly written. It would be great to see live, so if you can get tickets I highly recommend it based off of the soundtrack. I think it'll be great. I like history too, so I especially liked that part of it. Alexander Hamilton is a cool guy... this seems like a better legacy than just the $10 bill. And I feel like it gives me more respect for the other founding fathers and the other guys on the money also... so that's kind of cool.

But that's it for now. Hope you guys liked this!

Byeeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
