So a video a film student made of the movie Inside out surfaced because it was an edited version that didn't show the parts with the emotions, it only showed the parts with Riley and her family... so that is kind of cool.
I was expecting to really love this edition and to cry a lot from it because the parts with Riley and her parents were really what moved me while watching the movie and thats what I connected with, thats what made me cry. I didn't cry at the part with Bing Bong because that was a little obvious to me... but the part where Riley finally told her parents how she was feeling really made me cry. And then they hugged her and that's what really I thought was the heartwarming part of the movie that made me cry harder than any other movie...
Oddly enough, while watching this version, I didn't cry. I wasn't that emotionally connected to it either... and frankly... I was a little bit bored. I feel like the parts where we see her emotions and we know why she's acting makes those scenes stand out a little better and just overall makes them sooo much better in general. I feel like it makes the movie to be honest. Not that it was bad without that at all... but it was so much more fun to watch to see what was going on in her head and it made me understand it a little better.
What I loved about Inside Out was that this way of seeing the emotions as actual people controlling your brain made a lot of sense. It just really worked for me, I believed that that was how it happened. Everything that was going on with Riley was familiar to me because I feel like I've been through it before. Everything that was going on in her head was familiar to me, but I haven't actually seen the people controlling me so I don't really know what they're like... lol. Cause clearly there are people controlling you.
And I just got that thats what happens to everyone at points in their lives, it wasn't just for Riley... but Riley's parents had it and they've learned from it. Everyone's emotions go crazy at some points and sometimes they get more control.
So... yeah. I'm not saying the film student did a bad job... but it kind of took away from what made this movie what it is and I didn't connect to the scenes that I connected to in the movie the same way because of the very literal lack of emotion!
Hope you guys liked this! Check out the video if it hasn't been taken down and if you've seen inside out... and Have a great day!
