Scribbles About TV: One Big Happy and IZombie Reviews

One Big Happy- This looked bad. I heard it was bad... and it IS bad... so yeah. I thought I would just watch this because I do really like reviewing tv shows. I also love Ellen and I really liked Elisha Cuthbert a lot... she was so funny on Happy Endings... but this is just not good at all. The jokes are just not landing. There isn't any real chemistry between the two leads as friends... there are no laughs really... There was a joke about a colonic... that wasn't very funny. There was a joke about getting the girl on the plane and Lizzie said "haven't you seen any movie ever." And that was the best joke of the show. And then there was Lizzie having an awkward crush on the wife of the babydaddy... Idk. Its not my thing, and I like the concept of it... but I feel like maybe they could have done it a little better.

Also I'm going to get a little sidetracked here... but my #1 pet peeve about TV was in this show. The White Woman is getting deported so she gets married. I have a lot of issues with this. A) There are so many issues about immigrations that are more specifically for immigrants from Mexico or third world countries in general... and they refuse to show that on TV. It seems like we're just ignoring race issues that we need to bring up. One thing I appreciate Kimmy Schmidt doing is at least making it a Vietnamese male that gets married in order to stay in the country. That makes sense to me. (sorry kimmy schmidt spoilers). B) Women can fix anything with help from a man! Yayyyy!

So yeah. Big fat F. I feel bad saying that because I love everyone involved with the show... I think it maybe got changed because of the network. Idk. It had potential... but no.

IZombie- I've heard pretty good things about this. I kind of wanted to watch it... so yeah. Lets see if this is any good.

Alright I'm watching this right now, its right after the first commercials and I'm intrigued, I'll definitely keep up with this show... it has me hooked... but I wish they didn't play the theme song in the pilot episode. It explains a lot of what is about to happen and who everyone is... and it confuses me as to whether these people know she is a zombie or not... and that made the big reveal before the commercial break not that good for me I guess? Cause idk if her partner knows or not. At this point, I think that was supposed to be him discovering her secret for the first time... but I already thought he knew... so there's that. Also her mom was just explaining everything that we learned from the theme song... and I would rather not have had all that exposition back to back. If they explained the zombie attack a little better... I would have liked these first few minutes more... but they're just doing wayyyy too much exposition... so that has me a little miffed. I'd rather see the action and learn the situation instead of having the characters over-explain the situation to me...

Yeah thats a little weird. Its a good concept and everything. Its a lot like Forever or Pushing Daisies... and a little like Dead Like Me. Which are shows I really like and think are very different and cool...but at the same time, there are boring aspects to them... idk. Its interesting... but now I kind of take back what I said at the beginning. I'm not 100% sure I'm totally sold on this. I feel like its something that may get a little repetitive for me... idk. It is not a bad show by any means, its totally fun to watch and if you like any of those shows I mention... or if you really like mysteries or zombies or Veronica Mars or anything, definitely watch this show. Its really good if this is your cup of tea... but it might not be for me...  B- because I like it... but I don't think I'm hooked. The end was good too I guess... so its not all bad... but I'm not completely hooked the way I thought I'd be.

So that is everything. Hope this was helpful!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
