Stuff That Happened This Week: (8/24-8/31)

1) Kid Poisoned at Dairy Queen- This story pissed me off because it just shows how careless people are stupid and careless. Apparently some little kid was almost poisoned at a Dairy Queen because somebody put their ice cream inside of an already used container that was in the sink. And apparently it was used for some cleaning solution or something. Didn't fully understand that... But whatever. It was careless and stupid and the employee should have known better. The employee was REPRIMENDED, but not fired. People have been fired for far less than this, so it pisses me off that they weren't fired for nearly killing a child. I just don't think it's right.  2) Miley Cyrus helps the homeless at the VMAs- in a great uplifting news story that should have gotten wayyyyy more attention than her Twerking last year, Miley Cyrus brought a young homeless man to the VMAs in order to raise awareness for the homeless and runaway youths. He accepted Miley's VMA for video of the yea

Scribbles about Songs: List of songs that could make me cry.

This is something I just find interesting. These songs don't actually make me literally cry, but they could make me cry because they're just such bummer songs. Like if I were having a bad day or something and I heard one of these songs, I would feel like nothing has amounted to anything in my life and have this ultimate empty and worthless feeling.  Dust in The Wind by Kansas- I think it's safe to say that this is definitely at the top of the list. It's sooo soo sad anytime I hear it I'm just in such a sad mood after. It's a good song and all but it is depressing! My mom tried to make me feel better once and said "well they were probably on cocaine when they wrote it." Which is a good point.  Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel- I really like this song and Simon and Garfunkel and I love this song, and now it actually makes me laugh because of Gob Bluth... But this is a deep bummer type of song. It's a really good song, but it has the ability t

The ABC's of Me tag!

Idk if this is a tag or not... But I'm making it one. Basically I'm just going to go through every letter of the alphabet and say one thing I like for each letter. Good thing I went through an X Files obsession or this would be hard! Lol  A is for Arrested Development- My favorite show ever is arrested development. This show is basically the reason why I am the way I am today. If I had never watched this show, I probably wouldn't have realized it's my lifelong dream to be a comedy writer. Plus I wouldn't know good TV at all!  B is for Breaking Bad - My other favorite show ever! I've never really been as hooked to a show as I was to breaking bad. And I'm not super into dramas, but this one had me hooked!  C is for Cupcakes- I'm kind of obsessed with cupcakes. I like eating cupcakes,I like eating cupcake, I have several cupcake decorations around my room and I have a lot of t shirts with cupcakes. It all started basically because my sister got me a Johnny

Scribbles about Television: Bojack Horseman

I honestly had no idea what this show was about. I thought it was just about a guy that dressed up as a horse or something stupid like that. It did look like a completely stupid show, but with a cast like Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Tompkins and Aaron Paul, you kind of think that's pretty frickin good! Even for an animated show, they all do such great voice work I was excited about it. Also Will Arnett and Aaron Paul are executive producers so it sounded pretty awesome... And it was!  So it isn't a show about a guy that dresses up as a horse. It's an animated show about a horse that was a sitcom star in the 90s and now he's sort of a selfish washes up has been who's trying to get back out in the world. Even though it's such a ridiculous show, it's still got a very sad realness to it. I would even call it almost a dark comedy, but it isn't too dark because it is so over the top. It's very different from other animated comedies becau

2014 Emmys Recap: Winners, who should have won, and important moments

This years Emmys was an award show I was actually excited to see. A lot of shows I watch were nominated, plus Breaking Bad is one of my favorite shows ever and that was up for bunches of awards, so yeah I was pretty excited. One thing I did not know was that Seth Meyers was the host. He was actually a really great host. It makes sense because he actually writes for these awards shows, but I thought he was really funny all around. His monalogue was good, i loved that he did Billy on The Street as a sketch. I thought the Big Bang theory and How I Met Your Mother jokes were incredibly funny. Overall just a funny award show that I actually was paying attention to mostly. There were a few speeches and awards that I fast forwarded cause I watched the first half on TiVo and caught up. And basically if Louie Ck and Mike Judge didn't win, I fast forwarded. But I didn't skip the jokes or anything!  Other funny moments of the show: The Weird Al song was sooo soo funny. I didn't know mo

Trueblood Finale Review with lots of spoilers!

I didn't want to post this yesterday because I'm going to spoil everything pretty much. There isn't much to spoil though, I mean yeah I'm going to say how an entire series ends, but honestly with a lot of finales, the finale doesn't definie the show as a whole. And this had a much different tone than any other episode of this show, so it doesn't fully define the show if that makes any sense. The main actions of this season have already been set into place, so yeah. And this was a really happy finale. Surprisingly more happy than How I Met Your Mothers finale... And I'm really happy that Seth Meyers announced just how grim that finale was lol. For a show that's all about death and my main thought of the end would be that everyone would die... I was surprised everyone lived. Well not everyone but well get to that.  The show focused pretty much only on Sookie and her choice... But not the usual choice that Sookie is making between which vampire, werewolf, o

Stuff That Happened This Week (8/17/14-8/23/14)

1) Emma Stone to replace Michelle Williams on Cabaret- I kind of want to see this now... But there are actually a few broadway plays I want to see now, so I'm not sure about it! I love Michelle Williams and I think she's beautiful and brilliant and I also love Emma Stone and think the same thing. I have no idea what Caberet is about actually, but the people in it sound so good that it makes me want to see it! I also think she's a good singer, just from that scene in Easy A. Actually that song was very Cabaret-like I can totally see her in it! 2) Chris Pratt dresses as Star Lord fr patients at a Children's Hospital- How adorable is that!!! I love Chris Pratt, but I always think it's really special when they dress up as their characters and they do things like that for children's hospital, or just visit patients in hospitals also. Like Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper have done. It's nice and I bet he really brought a lot of joy to the kids who are in th

Shannon Logic:Symbolic Politics

I've done a ShanLogic on romantical type of advice before. This is my second theory... Don't take anything I say too seriously here, this won't be much of a controversial post, but my opinions are mine, yours are yours.  I say this like I'm going to explain politics in the most controversial way possible, but the truth is this is the most basic way to explain politics that really makes sense to me. A lot of times politicians give out freebies while trying to get your vote. They probably don't choose the freebies or anything, a comittee probably does... But I feel like they can say a lot about a candidate and maybe it's something that can help you make your decision.  So I think a reliable candidate would give something like a Chip Clip as a freebie. First off, it's an entirely useful freebie, potato chips don't always close easily and some people (I'm talking to you, dad!) leave the bag open and the chips get soggy or stale. Not only is it a useful i

Throwback Thursday: Reviews on CDs from the 90s and 00s

So I recently went on a road trip with my friend and we listened to a few FULL CDs from the 90s mostly and a few from 2000s and some I don't think I've listened to before and I've never listened to the full albums before, so that's good. I thourougly enjoyed pretty much all of them, but some more than others. I will review all of them right here.  1) Nicki Minaj with Pink Friday (I think the roman reloaded special edition... But I'm not sure)-  This isn't much of a throwback, but it was the first thing we listened to, so I figured I'd mention it. I didn't hear the whole album, but it was really good from what I did hear. It's also perfect for long road trips because it's 22 tracks long, so it isn't like you need to keep changing CDs. And all the songs are good. Nicki Minaj is also hot! I want to be friends with her. I might need to buy this cd...  2) N'Sync with No Strings Attached- this is a pretty damn fantastic cd to say the least. The

Throwback Thursday:Spice World Review

So I was cleaning my room last night and I decided to watch Spice World and then I ended up watching more of Spice World than cleaning and I thought "hey, there's a throwback Thursday!" I was going to watch some Robin Williams movies and review them, but there are a lot I haven't seen and want to, so that isn't much of a throwback for me.  Now I must have watched this every day for at least a month when I was a little kid, but somehow I remembered none of the actual storyline. I remembered the bad guy not liking that they were in the paper every day, I remember them singing a lot, I remember the aliens and I remember there being a documentary and the scene at the credits... But I remember like nothing else. I also remember the tour bus, which is absolutely ridiculous because it's huge and it just wouldn't happen. I didn't remember them having a pregnant-non-spice girl storyline. It was weird.  I seemed to think that this movie had some kind of a plot...

Woman Crush Wednesday: Garfunkel and Oates

1) They're both super funny separate and together- Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci are both incredibly funny people. Although the pair totally shines together, they're both super funny on their own as well. Kate was great as Raj's socially awkward girlfriend on The Big Bang Theory and Riki's been on At Midnight by herself and she's been super funny. They don't lean on each other for laughs, they support each other which makes them even funnier.  2) They're songs are super funny and super real- I feel like there are a lot of comedy musicians out there, and a lot of them have crazy outlandish songs that aren't real things that can happen. I can listen to a Garfunkel and Oates song and be like "ohhh that happened to me" or "ohhh I know someone that did that," it's like they're saying things that I've thought but wouldn't say out loud. Like "Pregnant Women are Smug" everyone knows it, nobody says it because they&#

Scribbles about Television: Trueblood Penultimate Episode

This episode again was good, but also... It's already sort of wrapped up and there isn't a whole lot happening right now. It's all a bit predictable and it hasn't been bad and this was not a bad episode at all,but it's trying to wrap up. Nothing was really out of the ordinary here.  Sooo where to begin... The part where Bill released Jessica was super moving. I thought that was the most emotional moment of the series possibly. Jessica is really the anchor for Bill to me. If it wasn't for Jessica,I would completely hate Bill and I'd be super happy that he's dying, but he's such a good maker to her and him choosing to die and releasing her and saying how proud he is of her...it's just sad. Jessica should be able to live all her lives with her maker the way Pam has with Eric because it's just that kind of relationship. It's also the only good parent-child relationship, other than Gran Stackhouse and the other Stackhouse grandparents and grea

Scribbles about Food: Hershey's Chocolate World Haul &Taste Test

So I've already said I just went to Hershey Park and I bought some chocolate and stuff that I've never seen or tried before so I thought I would share my thoughts and tastes of everything.  First off I got a Whatchamacallit Bar. I've seen these bars before, but I've never actually tried it. I figured when in Hershey, eat what the Hersheyians eat lol. I really liked this bar. It was chocolatey and it had rice crispies in the middle that were peanut butter flavored. It also had caramel and it was just really good overall. Ive seen these before, but they are harder to find, so I will look for them again.  I mostly bought Candy Kisses. They had all the different flavors, they didn't have my favorite which is the Chocolate Cherry flavor, but they did have a lot of good ones that are also harder to find. I bought a bag of the Cookies and Cream kisses. I love the cookies and cream bars and I had seen these before, but these aren't something easy to find so I grabbed a ba

Stuff That Happened This Week... Well really last week. (Week Starting 8/10/14)

I usually like to post these over the weekend... But I was in Pennsylvania, I already wrote the A-Z review so I just posted that, but a lot happened last week and it's still important so I'm still posting.  1) Actor Robin Williams died at the age of 63- This is probably the saddest I have ever been at a celebrity death, but at the same time it's kind of made me feel more connected to people. There are so many different generations that said "I grew up with Robin Williams" because really we all have really. A lot of people grew up with him as Mork, I grew up with him as Genie and Mrs. Doubtfire and Jumanji. Were all mourning this loss and it's really really sad for everyone because he truly has made a difference in a lot of lives. My friend first got into acting because she loved Robin Williams so much. My sister met him at a Boston Train Station and helped him get to the venue he was performing at and he was really nice to her and she even got his autograph. I

Scribbles About Tv: From A-Z Pilot Review

So now that we live in the glorious age of the internet, networks are releasing the pilots of shows earlier on their websites, Apps, Hulu even. The first show I've seen do this so far is From A-Z which I watched right after it was put out. I'm going to start this off by saying I think I would watch another episode of this show, but I can't see it lasting all that long. It was cute, the concept was about a man that worked at a Match.com type of place that just put out a tinder-like app for dating...which I thought was interesting. Anyhoo, he meets this girl, played by Christina Miloti aka The Mother aka Tracey McConnel and she's the perfect girl, she's the one for him blah blah blah. They feel like they've met before, but they haven't. There is an excellent voice over from Katey Segal that says their relationship lasts 8 months and this show will cover everything from A-Z.  This show has a lot of pros and cons to it... So I'll start with the cons.

Scribbles About Movies: Let's Be Cops Review

So I just saw Let's Be Cops, I had been looking forward to seeing it for a long time and I was super excited because it's probably the last thing that I really wanted to see this summer and it's exciting.  I thought it was really good. It wasn't like the funniest cop comedy that is out there, but overall I really thought it was just a plain good movie. It was different than a lot of other comedies, and I liked that. I thought the director made sort of interesting choices that built the suspense of the story, but it also kept it from being too much of an action movie. It was different than a lot of comedies, but it was good. I looked the director up on IMDB after and he also directed The Girl Next Door and Something Borrowed. Something Borrowed may be the worst movie I've ever seen in my life, but it got him to direct this which was good. He was probably misplaced directing a romantic dramedy and would be better doing an actual comedy. This is the opposite of the pro

Throwback Thursday: Shannon's Awesome Mix Vol. 1

This is my "Guardians of the Galaxy" mixtape of all the songs I liked most in high school and that I think are important to my life.  1) Feeling This by Blink 182-  I wasn't all that into Blink 182 until I was a senior in high school and they reunited and I saw them in concert. This song might not be my favorite of theirs, but it's a good way to start off the Awesome Mix. There was a boy I liked senior year and I listened to this song and it gave me the feels and whatnot. It's a song I still like to listen to when I am first noticing that I like someone. It makes sense for that.  2) Shots by LMFAO ft. Lil John-  They played this like 4 times at my prom. Or maybe this was just the only good song they played at my prom. Either way, this is a completely inappropriate prom song, and it was hilarious when my principal, who is a nun, heard them say Buttery Nipples. Side note: now that I can drink I've still only ever had one shot and I kind of want to know what a bu

August 2014:It List!

1) The Princess Diaries books- This was my favorite book series as a child, I did a whole Throwback Thursday post on this a little whole ago. I think it's absolutely brilliant. Even as an adult,it's still really funny! It's so much different reading these now, which again I talked a lot about in my Throwback Thursday so I don't want to repeat myself. I can also read these a lot quicker now and I don't have to wait months for the next book, so it's a little less annoying that way too.  These are also put together nicely. They have the regular larger books, but they have mini books like "project princess" Valentine Princess" "The Princess Present" and "Sweet 16 Princess" that will be fun to read around their corresponding holidays. Right now I'm reading them in the order they're supposed to be in and then I'll probably pick up the holiday themed ones at the holidays also.  2) Cool Ranch Doritos-  I probably haven'
