Throwback Thursday: Lilo and Stitch

I've been wanting to do reviews of older movies from when I was a kid or a teenager and wondering if they're any good now... and I'm happy to say this one is actually wayyy better than when I originally saw it when it came out!

Lilo and Stitch are 2 of my favorite disney characters probably. Stitch is one of the cutest, and he kind of reminds me of the minions. And Lilo is really cute and when I met her in Disney I had braided pigtails and Lilo grabbed them and it was really funny. I thought that was fun. And I know a lot of people in the Disney community hate the Stitch ride... honestly it scared me a little because I was still a bit traumatized from when it was Alien Encounter... but I liked the gift shop! And I like that Lilo and Stitch are at Disney now, I've only been to Disney once since the movie came out. They could maybe do something a little better... but it makes sense to replace Alien Encounter with Stitch.

The major reason why I loved this movie so much now: This is my first time really sitting down and watching it since I've had a dog and since I've lost a dog. Stitch reminds me so much of both of my dogs that it just makes me happy. Lucky, my first dog (who has passed)  and Spencer, my current dog are both adorable and very destructive. They're as loyal as can be, but man can they be bad! Also not unlike minions... you kind of get my type of cute creatures now right? Cute, but a little mischievous.

I thought the opening scenes were pretty brilliant also. The part with stitch was a little boring... I have to admit, but then we meet Lilo, who is the human version of Stitch. She's just as wild and destructive... but she's human and Stitch is made to destroy. So its kind of funny how they tame each other in a way and really take care of each other. Its sweet to see. I cried several times. It just reminded me so much of my doggies that it made me happy and a little sad thinking of them. Its just sweet.
I love that Lilo is such a deep character. She lost her parents, she fights with her sister, she loves dogs, she's very smart and a little crazy, she's an artist, she takes photos of people on the beach, she makes her own doll, she gets bullied, she loves Elvis, she hula dances... there's just soooo much to her and thats what really makes the movie so lovable and it makes Stitch so lovable even though he can be so bad.

The music is also really nice! I love that its hawaiin but there's one song in English mostly and there is a hawaiin song in it too. And the Elvis music too. I had the soundtrack as a kid and I loved it, especially in the summer. I liked the part where Nani sings Aloha'Oe to Lilo too... just so many really beautiful scenes in this movie... I love it!

I don't know if I'm posting this sometime before or after my favorite Disney movie countdown thing... I'm writing this in August and I'm not sure when I'm posting this... but I know its not for a while. Side Note: This makes me more excited for Moana, which I'm sure I've seen by now and cried at the Lin Manuel Miranda song on the soundtrack... I cannot wait for that soundtrack! I'm excited. SO maybe I'll wait till that comes out for this list... good idea. So its probably out now... and I'll try to remember to link it because I'm pretty sure I've written it by now... I'm pre writing because 1) Its easy 2) I'll be an aunt pretty soon!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
