Throwback Thursday: Aladdin

My favorite Disney movie ever! The first movie I ever saw... so did it hold up... Absolutely!

This isn't that big of a Throwback... I feel like this is a movie I've managed to catch just about every year or every few years. ABC Family AKA Free Form usually plays this around the holidays and they played it right after I came home from Disney World the last time I went... which was in High School and that was the first time I really remembered it all in all and I loved the way that Aladdin and Jasmine fell in love. Its just such a sweet story filled with adventure and of corse its really funny too.

I think the last time I watched it though was after Robin Williams passed away The Disney Channel showed it commercial free, which was awesome and I had it on Tivo and we saved it for quite a while, but I don't think I ever watched it after that. I got the Blu Ray a few months ago because as I've said... it is my favorite Disney Movie... so that is how I watched it this time.

The Blu Ray Quality didn't seem all that different from the quality of the original... but I'm sure the colors were a lot brighter and the sound was really good... a little too good maybe my parents were asleep when I watched this and we have thin walls in my house... lol.

Anyway on to the real review now... lets talk about some stuff that stood out to me. First off The Sultan's joke about Jasmine picking out a suitor. He said "Her mother wasn't nearly that picky." I thought that was really funny. The Sultan is a great character. Very underrated.

Also Abu and The Carpet are pretty underrated. This is like THE movie for sidekicks because of Genie, Carpet, Abu, Iago, The Sultan, Rajah... there were kind of a lot and I think that's pretty cool!

And Jafars wishes are really just to give him power... and I think that's because he feels quite powerless in his job. He feels he's smarter than the Sultan and could run the kingdom a lot better... he gets orders from Jasmine even who is a teenage girl... and even Iago is smarter than Jafar... so really he's pretty powerless so he's just going to do whatever gives him the most power, and that leads to his defeat ultimately.

I liked Abu a lot more than I usually do too. I just think its funny that he's so protective of Aladdin and he's known Aladdin the longest... and of corse he's not Aladdin's only friend by the end of the movie, but he is at the beginning... and that is worth noting.

I love all the costume changes in this movie too... there aren't that many... but really there aren't many in any disney movie, so I thought this one was pretty special. Especially since both Aladdin and Jasmine have multiple costume changes.

And as much as I like Iago... especially from The Tiki Room Under New Management... I thought really he is too evil in this to forgive in the second movie... so yeah. I don't know if I'd give him a second chance... but then again, Aladdin is a nice guy... so yeah.

I think this really has the perfect blend of action and romance in it... so if you feel like watching something more romantic from disney like Beauty and The Beast vs. something more action-y like The Sword and The Stone Maybe... this is kind of a great hybrid! I always think "wow this is a really great love story" when I see the first part of the movie but this is always one of the most exciting movies to watch also. So it really is a great great blend of both, which is pretty cool!

The only thing in this was that I know there are some songs and storylines that were cut from this movie... and I had never really noticed that they were missing before... but now I feel like there were some missed opportunities there. Here is one of the songs that Jafar would have sang, but instead the reprise of Prince Ali was used... I think either version would be just as good. I usually don't think deleted scenes or songs are that great in the story... but I think this one could work with either versions and it would have been just as good. A little missed opportunity there... but I don't think its anything that was too unnoticed. Pretty interesting!

Ohhh and I loved the Carpet ride even more now. All Jasmine wants to do is get out of the castle... and Aladdin shows her the whole world! I always get goosebumps when he says "Don't you dare close your eyes! So sweet!

So that is everything I wanted to say about Aladdin! Still one of my favorites!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
