Scribbles About Food: Teak Restaurant Review

So this is super exciting. I have been wanting to try this restaurant called Teak in Red Bank for a while now. It's a little bit pricey, so I haven't been... but it looked like a great place and a lot of fun. I actually won a gift card from a Facebook page called Jersey Shore in Motion. If you live near the Jersey Shore or vacation at The Jersey Shore... I highly recommend checking out the page. It's a great page for food all around the Jersey Shore... they were super nice and helpful when I won the contest. I guessed the amount of Candy Corn in a jar and I won that whole jar of Candy Corn and a $100 gift card to any Jersey Shore in Motion Restaurant... so that was cool.

The Bar/ The Wait/ The Service.
I didn't get a drink from the bar at all, but my friend and I got a coke... which was on the house... really really nice! It was busy, but it didn't take long... I was impressed with the service at the bar!

There was a wait for the table. I think they said 35-40 minutes... I think it was less than that. I'm not sure quite when we got to the restaurant... I would imagine after 7:30 and the table itself was ready at 8.

It was a busy night... which I'll get to... but the service was super nice! Everyone was really helpful. The waitress answered all of our questions and gave us suggestions if something else ran out... and she informed us on the special that was going on... apparently Monday Nights at Teak they have a pre-set menu and everything is half priced!!!!! Which is amazing! I'll talk about that menu in a bit... but yeah. That's why it was busy.

Also I was there with my friends and we were all catching up... everyone had something interesting going on... and we stayed for a while just talking before ordering and after we finished paying... and no one tried to rush us out of the tables or anything... and we were there till close. We were the last people at a table... so thats really nice of the staff to let us stay and catch up. A lot of restaurants really really rush you out. I thought it was nice that they kind of let us stay.

The Restaurant
The restaurant isn't huge... it was kind of loud because it was so busy. It was very pretty on the inside and it just really looks cool. I thought the bar was kind of nicely placed in the restaurant... and yeah. It was just nice! Fancy place... and it was loud but you could still hear your own conversations.

Menu
I get kind of upset when the restaurant doesn't offer the whole menu... but I think that they still had quite a bit of choices. They had a lot of small hot and cold plates... so there were a lot of options for everything... They had 3 noodle dishes that all sounded amazing and 3 or 4 large plates... all really good choices... it took us a while to decide.

I was a little disappointed they didn't have KFC wings... because thats my new favorite thing to order at asian fusion places... but it was really good.

Drink
I had the Mojito... my friend Georgie was RAVING about this mojito, she said that it was the best Mojito she had ever had... and I had to try it. It was really nice and fresh. It was just the right amount of mint... and it just reminded me of how much I love Mojitos. I need to order them more! So yummy!

Drinks were not part of the 1/2 price special.

Appetizers

So we each got the Lobster Bisque. The menu had a Butternut Squash soup that sounded really good... they were out of that by the time we ordered it, so the waitress suggested the Lobster Bisque and it was really good! It wasn't the freshest lobster ever... but I was still really impressed with it. The soup itself was nice and creamy. There were croutons and Creme Fresh... at least I think it was creme fresh... some sort of sour cream lol. It was really good.

We also got the Pork Pot Stickers and those were really good too! There were 4 of us, we got 2 orders so that we could each get 2. They were really really good! If you were just going for drinks and snacks, this would be a good one. It was spicy... but because it was small and there weren't a lot... it was perfect. I really liked it!

Meal
I had the Asian BBQ Chicken. It came with mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and yellow ahi panka sauce... not sure what that is.there were some noodle things on top that tasted a little like sweet potato... there were just a lot of yummy flavors. The chicken was super nice and tender. The mashed potatoes were perfect. The BBQ sauce was really yummy and not spice... it was just perfect. So delicious. It's $24 regularly but of corse with the half off it was $12. I even kind of liked the asparagus... which usually I don't eat... but again everything is very fresh at the restaurant and it just tasted kind of like zucchini... so I kind of liked it... I kind of didn't but I still ate some and didn't hate it.

So that was pretty amazing. I was super impressed... it was really yummy.

Desserts

I had something called the Rotini Rolls... It was Malaysian Pancake Rolls served with Nutella Ice Cream. It wasn't a huge dessert... so it was good after a big meal. The Nutella Ice Cream was homemade and it had crunchy things in it. It was a very small scoop but it was really nice. The pancakes were pretty good too... They were like cakes though... they tasted a little like pancakes I guess... idk if that's the best way to explain it. It was good though! My friends got a Molten Lava Cake with a homemade ice cream with Graham Cracker Crumbles... that was tasty too. That might have been the best molten lava cake.

BTW I'm just saying yes to dessert now even if I'm full. I would rather have desserts than a sore stomach. Lol.

Overall highly highly recommend checking it out if you're in the Jersey Area... if you want to get food on Monday... this is a great one! I really really loved it! My friends seemed to like their meals too... it was really nice. Fun night.

Byeee! Hope you guys liked this review!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
