Scribbles About Movies: Star Wars The Force Awakens

So I finally FINALLY saw the newest star wars movie... and it was awesome. I thought everyone was great. I think John Boyega could have been nominated for an Oscar for it. I know theres a lot of controversy about the Oscars... but honestly I thought The Force Awakens could have been nominated for SOMETHING more than just technical categories and his character made me most excited I think. It was great to see everyone else... but immediately from the get-go I connected with him and I thought he brought the heart to the movie and he was just really amazing. He wins a Shanny Award. Lol. None of the nominees sound appealing to me this year. I think Spotlight sounds the most interesting... but I don't think it'll win a Shanny. Lol.

I totally love that I just made an awards named after myself. But I think he deserves it. I love him. I also loved Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, and Lupita Nyongo as well. And all the new characters really. BB-8, Po... everyone just fit in really nicely and they meshed well with the old characters and the old storyline with Luke and Jedis fit in with the new. And there were lots of mirrors between the original and this one as well. I thought that was really interesting. Trying not to get into too many details... Similar father-son things, mysterious characters with mysterious parents and it not totally beginning where it starts or ending where it ends. There is always going to be more to the story because there's money to be made and that is awesome.

I'm not spoiling anything in this review because one of the things was spoiled for me... I'm going to say I knew what happened with Han Solo... I didn't know the twist with him or his relationship with Leia. I knew we don't know who Rey's parents are... but I also didn't think Rey knew who her parents were and it seems she did. I also didn't really know much about Finn... I just knew he was a stormtrooper that was really a good guy... but thats about it. So even knowing the one spoiler I knew... the movie wasn't ruined at all because there was just so much going on! I didn't know where Luke was or if he was a good guy or bad guy... and I was gonna say more to that but that might be a spoiler... so yeah.

I was trying to look for or listen for the Easter Eggs... I don't remember the original very well. I need to see that again... but I think I caught one. During the Cantina scene I think you can see Lin Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame. He wrote the new theme for the Cantina Music and I think that is awesome. You know I'm obsessed with the Hamilton Soundtrack... so I was excited for that. Does not beat the original Cantina Theme. I love that music. Here you go. Its pretty amazing. Thats the original. I don't think I'd seek out the new one... but it wasn't bad.

And I think this is probably better if you know the Original Trilogy... but I felt like this was a lot easier to follow than the original. What I like about Most of the Star Wars movies is that you don't necessarily feel like you're watching a Sci-Fi movie when you're watching them. Its something if you're like "Idk I'm not into Sci Fi this is too weird." Check out this one when its on TV. I know people who hate star wars, hate sci fi... but I still think this is an okay thing to start out with. Its a good way to get into Star Wars. I'm kind of happy I have a vague knowledge of what happened in the original but didn't remember everything... so that was kind of fun. Its re-introduced me into the old movies I guess. And I think I will probably grab the Original Trilogy on Blu Ray and I think my dad got Revenge of The Sith on Demand. I'm not against the prequels... the prequels were a big part of my childhood... but as an adult I've realized they are one of those things that should stay in my childhood with fond memories and if I watched it today it would be heartbreaking and awful. Lol. So those are just going to stay in the past as a fond childhood memory that I don't remember. I remember the toys were REALLY cool though. And the new Star Wars toys look cool... but I have a problem with the fact that I don't see enough Rey or Finn. People were complaining about no Rey... there is not a lot of Finn either! Its mostly Kylo Ren toys that I see and its his face on the box! What's that about???

But for real... Shanny's for everyone in this movie and the movie itself! It was damn cool!

Anyway... Yeah. Byeeee! Let me know what you thought in a spoiler free manner. Remember not everyone goes to the movies often.

P.S- if you tell me "SHANNON YOU SUCK FOR NOT SEEING IT ON OPENING WEEKEND."No my friend... you suck because I don't have as long for Rogue One now. Naanaa nanaaa boo boo! Lol.

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
