Panic at the Disco has always been one of my favorite bands and they have some good and some bad albums... and this may be their best yet!
I believe this is the first album without Spencer Smith... so the only original member of the band in this album is Brendon Urie. Jon Walker also not in this, he wasn't the original bass player, but he took over for someone else... so pretty much Brendon Urie is the only person on this album I know in the band and he's always been in the band...
... And I think he IS the band. I would say the worst album from Panic at the Disco is Pretty Odd... I think most people would agree... it just didn't really work... but Urie's voice is still amazing in that and makes it actually tolerable. Lol.
And I was upset when Ryan Ross left Panic because I thought he was a great writer. I really loved A Fever You Can't Sweat out... but I think they've gotten even better since he left. And its sad to say that I really didn't want to like the band when they split up... but they're so much better now.
Anyhoo, lets get to the songs on this album. This is a good one to listen to the whole way through. There's sort of a theme to this album... and its sort of like when you get married or commit to someone... part of you dies. Lol. Is that a bad message? I think what he's sort of trying to get across is that its not your best self that dies. Idk. If someone is trying to marry me... that's exactly what it means. Lol. You can't have the same kind of fun that you used to and its sort of something you need to accept. That's what I'm getting out of the "Death of a Bachelor" thing.
These songs are also quite funny. Like one of my favorite lines is in "Don't threaten Me With A Good Time" and it says "I lost a bet to a guy in a chiffon skirt... but I make these high heels work." And that gets a chuckle from me every time. And shortly after that it says "I'm not as think as you drunk I am." Its pretty funny. Its like a bite-y sarcasm thats sort of sad but I love in music.
So the songs I think are most important on this album that I guess are my current favorites... my favorites change all the time cause that's just how I am with music... but anyway. The best are Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time, Golden Days and the titular Death of a Bachelor. It's pretty rare where the title track is actually one of my favorites... but I just think its so good on this that I 100% recommend it. My favorite favorite is Golden Days. Its different than I expected, I love the song Golden Years by David Bowie and for some reason I thought it'd be like that... but its so different and its just such a great song.
There are also a few songs that sound like Classic Panic at The Disco to me. Most of them sort of do lol. I think Crazy=Genius is a good one that if you've heard one song from Panic at the Disco when they started and you liked it... you would like that one too. I guess they kind of have that vibe, more so than compared to their last album where it didn't sound like them to me and it was a little more boring in my opinion. It wasn't bad... but when bands aren't different enough its a little boring and when bands are too different its also a little boring... so either way it bores me haha. This I think is a good mix. And I like that.
So yeah. Definitely give it a listen. I highly recommend it. If you like Panic at the Disco I think you'll like it. If you don't like Panic at the Disco... to be honest, idk why you're reading this... but thank you. Tomorrow I will post something non Panic At The Disco related... lol.
