Scribbles About TV: End of Feb 2015

Big Week for TV! Oscars, Parks and Rec Series Finale, How to Get Away With Murder Season Finale... plus a lot of other good shows. Its one of Jon Stewarts last shows! Lol. Every week now until he leaves is I guess... but yeah. Lol. I watched The Oscars. I don't usually watch the full thing, but I did this year because... we had leftover appetizers from the superbowl, so I invited my friend over lol. Now I'm watching Jimmy Kimmel. I don't watch Jimmy Kimmel often because when Nia Vardalos was on promoting Connie and Carla, I thought he was a little disrespectful for her because he would only mention meeting Quentin Tarantino when she was on... and idk. I think I may have misjudged him a little bit, because I've seen some of his other shows and he is really quite funny and seems pretty normal and he's friends with a lot of other celebrities. His shows always do really fun bits, the episode Matt Damon hosted was really funny. And his monologue was really good for

Scribbles About News: End of Feb

1) Oscars- So I'm going to take some guesses on what is going to win the oscars right now... I am writing this the day before... I'm going to guess what is going to win and see how it holds up. Best Picture- Boyhood probably. Everyone is saying how hard it is to make a movie over 12 years and the academy will probably just go "yeah its hard" and vote for it because of that. Best Actor- It probably should be Bradley Cooper, but The Academy never goes for war movies... but Hollywood loves Hollywood, so I'm going to say Michael Keaton for Birdman. It must have been incredibly difficult to do that movie with pretty much all long takes. He's probably going to win and I'm probably going to cry at his speech. Best Actress- Idk who is nominated for this even... lol. Probably Julianne Moore. She's won everything right? Yeah, she'll win. Lol. I'm rooting for Rosamund Pike... she could have a chance maybe... not likely lol. She's been nominated

Things from Parks and Rec That Need To Exist IRL

I was reflecting on Parks and Rec a little bit, and I thought of several things where I'm like "man, that needs to be a thing in real life." So, to continue Parks and Rec Week a little, I'm going to talk about some of these things. In No Particular Order. 1) Thoughts for Your Thoughts- This radio show just sounds amazing. First off, the voice of the host (or I guess the fill in host) is amazing, plus they always do interesting interviews and play music I'm sure you won't hear anywhere else. It just seems like it should be an actual show.  2) The Time Traveler's Optometrist- They made Leslie Knope's Pawnee book, they should definitely make The Time Traveler's Optometrist... it sounds awful but I'm sure the writers of Parks and Rec would make it really funny.  3) Crazy Ira and The Douche- Shock jocks with fart sounds? Yes! This probably exists already, but they are from Pawnee, so that makes it better.  4) Dennis Feinstein's

Scribbles About TV: Parks and Rec Finale Review (Spoilers.)

Wow. Just wow. I absolutely love this show and I've been saying its the greatest show on television since Arrested Development for forever. I'd also like to add that the writers, producers, directors, actors and everyone that had a hand in making this show are absolutely some of the smartest and funniest people ever. Pawnee is the best fictional town ever... and yeah. Anyone with a hand in this series is an incredible human being and I love you. I sound like Craig, lol. Okay so I already knew this wouldn't disappoint as I've never been disappointed by anything on this show ever. I would have been upset if Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe weren't on, but I knew they would be. I would have been a little upset if they had referenced the documentary the way the office did. Idk... I just think its weird that after 9 years on the office they were just like "ohhh by the way this is a documentary we've been working on for 9 years." Did anyone else think that was

Parks and Rec Recs

So here is a little random post for you... Since Parks and rec  is ending tonight... I thought I might give some recommendations for things you may enjoy if you need your parks and rec fix... First I'm going to recommend following some of the cast members on twitter and instagram because they post a lot of funny things. The person I would recommend most highly is Rhetta. Her twitter handle is Unforhettable and she's really funny. She'll live tweet, she's just as awesome as Donna Meagle and she's perfect. Evilhag is Aubrey Plaza, PrattPrattPratt is Chris Pratt... I believe Adam Scott and Billy Eichner have twitters and instas. Creator Mike Schur has a twitter. I believe Humble Brag is still up which was created by a writer/ producer Harris Wittels (R.I.P.) There is a lot going on on twitter with these guys, so yeah. If you like Podcasts, one podcast that has a very similar humor to Parks and Rec with some similar elements is Welcome to NightVale. This is podcast

Man Crush Monday: Aziz Ansari (Parks and Rec Week)

(this pic shows exactly how I look at art. Lol)  1) His comedy is really unique because its a bit of everything- Aziz always does things like talk about pop culture, he name drops, he talks about his family, talks about dating, tells stories that he makes up, he talks about food, he sings... he just does a little bit of everything and he does it really really well. I think his first comedy special... Intimate Moments or something that its called really shows that. He even does an over-the top Dane Cook-type comedian thats supposed to be bad and he does it really good! He even told one joke as Randy, the character he does (from the movie Funny People) and one just as Aziz and its so funny to see the difference between the way he tells the same joke. Its something not a lot of people can do, and he does it brilliantly because he can do a little bit of everything. 2) He pokes fun at himself- He doesn't poke fun at himself too much, but he's okay with poking fun at himself a

Scribbles about TV: 3rd week of Feb 2015

So the week started out pretty good. I watched John Mullaney's New In Town. Its really funny. Mullaney is adorable and I think his stand up is really funny. I heard little bits of it before, and I really liked it, so I watched the full thing now, and its good. I watched some of Halloweentown, the old Disney movie... but I did get a little bored. I didn't actually finish it, I just watched up until the first commercial, so really nothing at all... but you know. Its a thing. Comedy Central had a pretty good movie marathon on on Valentines day and I watched the tail end of it, so I saw some of the dirtier movies. I watched Mean Girls, The Hangover and for the first time I watched Zach and Miri Make A Porno. I've wanted to see that movie for a long time, but I wasn't 17 when it came out... so that didn't happen. Lol. I saw it on Comedy Central, so its basically a G-Rated version... but its okay. I liked it overall. And then after all of those movies they had some

Scribbles About News- 3rd Week of Feb

There's a lot of "woman" news this week, which is kind of cool. I wouldn't say its all feminist news... but just so you know. If you don't like women... you're probably an asshole and you won't like this post... so you can leave now. Lol. I'm going to start this off with some really awful news, just because I can't not mention it, and I already wrote everything else and I don't want to put it underneath photos of Lady Gaga's engagement ring. Harris Wittels, who wrote for and produced Parks and Rec, The Sarah Silverman Program, and Eastbound and Down died at the age of 30, from what is believed to be a drug overdose. He's also appeared on several podcasts including Who Charted and Comedy Bang Bang, and hosted his own podcast called Analyze Phish where he tried to get CBB's Scott Auckerman to listen to Phish and like it. He's also from a band called Don't Stop or We'll Die and founded one of the best twitter accounts eve

Scribbles About TV: Two And A Half Men Finale Review

Sooo... I am not really a fan of the show Two and a Half Men... It had it's good moments... But it's been on 12 years... And it's not the greatest thing... Even though some of the characters are brilliant and the squab episode was great... Anyway the finale sounded brilliant from the online description I saw... So I'm watching it now on CBS's website... Which sucks and it's like a few hours since the finale itself so this may not work. I'm going to do this as kind of a live tweet during the commercials and notable moments... And pauses cause there are going to be a lot of pauses.  I love Rose, I think she's really funny and I'm glad she seems to have a major part in the finale cause she deserves it. Still a little too reliant on the "sheen" factor when I know he isn't actually on the show... But I guess that's what it needs. And probably the only reason someone may watch this instead of scandal or whatever.  Btw scandal

Shannon Tries to Adult Good: Progress? and Learning?

In my last "adult good" post, I mentioned what I thought a grown up was and how I could kind of get on that way to becoming a grown up... and while I haven't necessarily done any of the grown up things on the list... some of the "things grown ups shouldn't do" I have kind of stopped doing, or at least doing less of... or improving to make it more of a grown up thing to do.  Here  is my first post if you want to read it... its pretty funny.  One thing I put on the list is to take advice from people other than Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling or something along those lines... Thats stupid advice. How can I grow up good when I want to be like those ladies when I grow up? I mean I know Liz Lemon and Leslie Knope are fictional characters. That isn't who Tina or Amy are in real life... but I can still totally use their life advice. I've been reading Yes Please by Amy Poehler and I actually started keeping a little journal with some things in m

WCW: Casey Wilson

Here's a quick (hopefully) WCW on one of my favorites: Casy Wilson  1) She's always the funniest star- In every tv show she's been in, she's always been incredibly funny and just a star. She's a scene stealer, even in smaller roles. Even in a serious movie like Gone Girl she totally fit that role perfectly. Not that she's actually a pregnant idiot, but the character was kind of over the top and funny and she played that perfectly. I kind of mentioned her in my most fascinating women of the year... But she's definitely a star, she stole every scene in Happy Endings and that's not an easy accomplishment. It's a funny show with a funny cast... She's just really really great.  2) She's really nice- if you tweet her she'll favorite it and tweet back sometimes. It's just something special that always makes me happy. Not everyone does it, so I'm happy she does.  3) she's a good writer-  The movie Bride wars that she wrote with June D

Weird Questions Tag

So this is an old Tag... but I kind of like doing tags because they're easy and fun. I stumbled across this on youtube in a video that Graveyardgirl did in 2011... and the video is just so funny and I really liked it, so I thought it looked fun!
#1. What's a nickname only your family calls you? Pumpkin Pie. No one ever actually calls me that though, but oddly enough its both my sister and my nickname somehow. When I was little my parents would just say my whole name and then say "Pumpkin Pie" at the end. Which you can imagine is confusing to a little kid who you never actually call this name... its just really funny. So I used to think everyone had a first name, middle name, last name and a nickname and that that was your full name. So for a little while if someone asked my full name I'd say "Shannon Lee Kahermanes Pumpkin Pie." Its really a weird thing cause nick names are things you just have as just calling you that, but my parents never called m
