Scribbles About Food: Blacktap NYC

I went to Blacktap back in April for my sister's Bachelorette Party and I thought now would be a good time to give a review of it!

Black Tap is mostly known for  their EPICALLY huge milkshakes filled with candy and lots of things inside... and the line to get in the restaurant... which I'll mention too... but they have good food besides just the milkshakes and they had a pretty good selection of things on the menu also.

I had the Texan Burger which is described as "Aged Cheddar, Crispy Onions, Bacon, Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ and Mayo." I forget if I had it with Mayo or if I asked for no mayo... Yeah it had mayo on it... but it was probably the most delicious burger I've ever had. It was cooked really well, the flavors all went together really well... it just tasted amazing all together.

It was a really big burger patty and it had a lot of cheese on it. The bacon was good... there was only one crispy onion... but it was a really good onion ring. I thought it was really good all together.

And I had it with the Sweet Potato Fries, which were also very good! I kind of forgot I had them... but they were pretty crispy and delicious! They were sweet, but still like a fry. I liked them a lot and I love the way Sweet Potato Fries taste with Barbecue Burgers. It was really really good.

And everyone else liked the food that they had too. My cousin had a falafel burger. My sister and her friend had a chicken sandwich that they really liked. Her other friend had a bison burger salad she liked that a lot. It was a pretty unique menu, it'd be easy for everyone to find something to eat that they like!

And there weren't as many options for milkshakes, but they do change it out from day to day depending on what they have. The items that are always on there are a Cotton Candy Milkshake, Sweet n Salty, Cookie Milkshake and I think the other one was called Sour Power. Cotton Candy was a Strawberry Milkshake with cotton candy and other candies on them... the rest I'm pretty sure were just vanilla with whatever candy or snack on top. I got the Sweet n Salty... and I think everyone else ended up getting that too...

And it was really really yummy! I believe it was $15... I've seen other places with milkshakes similar to this for a lot more money... and honestly for the amount of candy and stuff you get on it, it makes sense for $15. That being said... its something I didn't want to share because the amount of actual milkshake isn't quite share- worthy... but the candy was wayyy too much on top. The pretzels gave a nice salty balance. It is wayyy too much to finish up the entire milkshake with all the candy... but its still really yummy. There's a placed called Coney Waffle around here that is similar... but a little bigger and they have shakes for $18... and really at that price and with that amount of stuff... its basically an $20 instagram photo. I'm not saying not to try it... its not something you'd get every day though either, so just some things to keep in mind.

It was really yummy though! The candy was good, the flavors were all good the candy was great! I could have done without the Sugar Daddy candy because there was no real way to eat that or to save it for later... but the pretzels and the candy were really yummy! It was a really good milkshake.

Afterwords I felt a little... ugh... but the food was really good. If you didn't want a milkshake, they do have other drinks on the menu. You could get the milkshake spiked, but I didn't want to try that.

The service was pretty good, the restaurant was clean... it just kind of looked like a regular dive bar though. They just had regular wood that wasn't stained or anything... so people wrote all over it and drew pictures of body parts and stuff like that... so maybe make sure you have a napkin over that stuff if you're bringing kids... just cause you might not want them to see that. Lol. The bathrooms kind of terrified me to be honest. They were clean, but they were dark and mine had some sort of symbol or writing on it that made me feel uneasy. Like something shady was going on there.

There is someone working in the bathroom there I think, so bring some singles maybe.

And... yeah! That's all you really need to know! Good food, good shakes. You could go just for the shakes, but I highly recommend the food also. Its a fun place to go to if you're in NYC and you're looking for something to do. Or if you saw the instagram photos and wanted to try it.

Ohhh also: The Line. We got there really early. It is a pretty small place... but the line is sort of just there to create a buzz I think... it looked like it moved pretty quickly and they didn't really rush you to eat inside. They cooked the burgers right there, all the ingredients were fresh, we saw them taking them into the restaurant, so we knew they were fresh... so that's always good to know.

It was a cool place! I really liked going there and would like to go back!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
