Scribbles About TV: Life in Pieces, Grandfathered, The Grinder

So I wasn't going to watch these shows or review them... simply because I didn't really have an interest in them. I know I'm not going to like Life In Pieces at all... but I saw the end of an episode of The Grinder... and I didn't hate it... so we're going to try to watch these and I'll tell you about them. Alright.

Life In Pieces
This is the one I was going to start out with because I'm a little biased since I knew I wasn't going to like the format of the show... but I wanted to watch it with an open mind anyway... and it wasn't the worst thing on tv ever. It had some funny moments. It was kind of cheap laughs though... but things that genuinely happen in real life. I found the story with the first date the funniest and that was the beginning of the episode... but it was so short there was no real arch or character development or anything. I don't think its funny when people joke about women's bodies after birth... that's super cheap to me and I just don't like it... and I didn't like the character that was Marie from Breaking Bad's husband... I thought he was just unfunny and they tried to far with him. He was like an unlikable Phil Dunphy. This show wasn't unfunny... I just hate that storytelling device and wouldn't watch it again.

Grandfathered
I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did! This is a really fun show! Josh Peck was so nerdy and funny in it, the chemistry between him and John Stamos was really  good and it was just a really fun show to watch. It was nothing super funny or groundbreaking, but just a fun and funny show to watch. Really great pilot too, as far as Pilots go I thought this was very well established and well written. I don't know if this is something I will always consistently watch... but I feel like its a good show to have on in the background or something. You don't need to be 100% invested in it, but you watch it and its cute and charming. The baby in it is really cute too. I was pleasantly surprised.

I thought Life In Pieces was sort of a Modern Family Rip Off... this is a great take on Modern Family that I thought worked well. And I wasn't expecting to like it at all. Even the opening scene I hated John Stamos's character... but the show won me over and it was a lot of fun.

The Grinder
This was actually really funny. Really meta, kind of reminded me of Always Sunny... really great cast. This is one I'll definitely watch again. I didn't really know what this show was about at all, I just thought that the name would confuse people and it wouldn't be very good... but I think its great. The opening where they showed the finale of The Grinder was really funny. I didn't like Fred Savage's character... but thats kind of the point. That's why it kind of reminded me of Always Sunny... plus a lot of the same people are in it. Fred Savage is a director, Marry Elizabeth Ellis is The Waitress... it makes sense and I'm guessing some of the same people are involved in creating/producing it. I just thought it was really funny. The characters are such idiots and I just thought it was pretty funny.

So that's everything! I was surprised, none of these were bad. Even Life In Pieces was funny, I just don't love the mini-episodes. All the new shows this year are pretty good! I'm impressed.

So I think there are still a few more new shows I have to watch. I wasn't going to watch Minority Report, but I might just watch the pilot because so far I've liked everything... other than Dr. Ken... and My Crazy Ex Girlfriend I'll watch and review too. And of corse I'll be watching and reviewing Supergirl!

Hope you guys check these out! Glad I watched them!

Byeeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
