Scribbles About Movies: Unofficial Ranking of Pixar Movies

So I was going to re-watch all Pixar movies and do a full ranking of every movie... but I don't even have all of them and I don't really have a DVD player right now... so this is kind of an unofficial ranking... but all the important ones are the same. I'm going to start from the bottom and then go up! Not because Up is #1... its close lol... but still. All of the movies are good, I didn't like Cars 2 and I didn't love Cars... so slight spoilers... theres a reason for all my rankings... lol. They're all good and I could watch them all... except Cars 2 which I never really finished... lol.

15) Cars 2- The only Pixar movie I didn't like... and the only Pixar movie that got bad reviews. I didn't watch the full thing... I don't think I can because I just don't get the whole Cars are spies deal and stuff like that... idk. Its a weird one. I felt like they were like "You know what will make a movie less annoying? More Larry The Cable Guy" ... which is a bad way to go... lol. I do think all the voices are pretty good though, despite the Larry The Cable Guy factor. Its the worst Pixar movie... but I would say this is the best bad movie I've ever seen. And even though I don't really like Cars... I get why its popular. Its so marketable. Boys and girls love it, the toys are cute and really fun... which is true of all the Pixar movies... I had all the toys for all the early movies lol. Its not a good movie for adults, but kids will love it! And I think even 10, 20 years from now, this will always be a movie you can show kids and they'll like it.

There was one funny moment where Mater realizes he's a bomb and Lightning McQueen is saying "yes you're the bomb. you're awesome" and there was a misunderstanding there and I actually did laugh... but I still don't think I'll watch the full movie more than once.

14) Cars- Like I said, not a huge fan of Cars. This one was still good enough for me to want on DVD. I think this is the first Pixar movie I didn't see in theaters. It looked cute, but even at the time I felt a little too old for it, it is geared for like young young kids and I was like 14 when this came out... I also just don't get the world of just sentient cars on their own... idk. Its a really well animated, colorful and beautiful movie... it just isn't the best.

13) A Bug's Life- This is a good one! And these toys were the most fun when I was a kid. I have to say this is the only one I really get sick of whenever its on and thats the only reason why its so low on the list. I don't love bugs either... lol. But I feel like its a little hard for me to watch because the bad guys are just Soooo bad. Pixar really does not hold back on their bad guys!!! Lol. Idk its just disturbing at how the grasshoppers are bullies. Its pretty cute overall though, and for the second movie, it was really great. Its bright and animated nicely, and I think it holds up for little kids... but as a grown up its a little harder to watch.

12) The Incredibles- Its been a while since I've seen this movie and I definitely need to see this one again... I really like the concept, really like the voices, its a fun movie. I kind of think its scary though. The villain doesn't seem like that much of a bad guy to me. He just wanted to be a hero too and he wanted to make regular people heroes... but they didn't like that and he became a villain? I don't really remember I remember a Cracked article on it and I was like "wow he wasn't really a bad guy at all..." so thats why this is low on the list. I do think the Super family is cool. I think its dark for a kids movie and it might be kind of young for adults... I think Comic Book fans like this one a lot. And kids like it and grow ups like it too, I'm still going to watch it again soon and I'll probably love it... its just pretty dark for a Pixar movie.

11) Brave- Slightly boring, but I really like it! I liked the mother-daughter relationship. I loved Merida as a character. I think its funny that they still have a part for John Ratzenberger in this movie! Haha. I thought that it seemed like a real folklore that you could actually tell people and they would believe, but its pretty cool. And really different for Pixar.

10) Monsters University- This has a special place in my heart because I love Monsters Inc so much... this didn't quite hold up though. I would have loved to see an actual sequel to Monster's Inc instead of this. It was a good movie and all and I really liked it... I don't know that I loved it the way I love most other Pixar movies. I didn't like that Mike was the focus of the movie... I didn't like the animation as much... I'll get to that when I get to Monster's Inc, but the animation on that was groundbreaking and they didn't have the same effects in this one... and I feel like Pixar really kind of phoned it in on this one. I thought this was kind of the end of them to be honest... their last few movies weren't fantastic and Toy Story 3 was awesome... but it seemed like this was when they were kind of done looking back on it. In Monster's Inc it even says Mike and Sully knew each other since they were little kids, not in college... it was just a little sad to see one of my favorite movies have an Okay sequel.

That being said: I did really like all the new characters in this. I thought they were fun and the voice actors were really good and... yeah. I did love the movie but it was a little disappointing compared to Monster's Inc if I'm being honest.

And I really do love all of these movies except the Cars movies... and I did like Cars... but yeah.

9) Toy Story 2- I used to love this movie as a kid! Again it had the funnest toys too! For the first Pixar Sequel I thought they did a great job... but its a little too sad. The part with Emily might be the saddest part of any movie ever... and I really like the movie its just not as good as the other 2. I just watched it now and it still was pretty exciting to see the end and there are so many funny jokes and the bloopers at the end... all really good.

8) Ratatouille- I feel like this is one of the most watchable Pixar movies because it isn't too sad and its still a really good and funny movie, that kind of makes you feel good. The voices are really good in this. I like that it takes place in France. I just like this one a lot. It is a fun movie and just a fun one to watch. This was the last movie that my favorite movie reviewer,  Joel Siegel saw with his grandson and they laughed the whole time. I know Joel loved seeing cartoons and Pixar movies with his grandson, and I thought it was sweet that this was the last movie that a true movie lover would see... because this is a good one. Its not too deep and you don't have to think about it, it just makes you feel good.

7) Up- If you ask me the most romantic movie of all time, I'd probably say this or Wall E... lol. This movie is absolutely beautiful. One of the most beautiful animated movies ever. It is soooo sad at the beginning and the music is just really good. I think the action storyline on the island... isn't quite my favorite. It is a little weird, but I do still really really love the movie. Really different from any other movie. I love the dog in the movie... and all the characters are really good. I just like it. I saw this after my grandfather passed away and it was a really sad one to watch, but he kind of looks like my Poppy and Poppy loved Disney World and Mickey Mouse, so I know he would have loved this movie.

6) Wall E- This one might be a little less watchable than Up... its basically a silent movie, so you really need to sit down and pay attention to it, and it is soooo sad at the beginning. It just kind of breaks your heart from loneliness every second of it... but I really love the world of this movie... its so interesting to me. I love that Wall E rescues Eve, I love the Rogue Robots... I kind of want Wall E And Eve wedding toppers for my wedding cake... lol. I've seen them and its so cute, I just like it! It is a harder one to watch, but its one of the better ones.

5) Toy Story 3- This movie came out right before I went away to college so it has a particularly special place in my heart. I might be biased because of that, but it was really exciting because I saw Toy Story when I was 6 and then when I was a little more grown up toy story 2 came out... and then this one just came out at the right time for me. I remember there were a lot of Facebook groups saying that 2010 was the best year to graduate because 1) Sen10rs 2) Andy also graduated in the same class as us. Then the class of 2011 tried saying that they had the best because Harry Potter graduated then... and then there were groups saying Harry Potter didn't even graduate because he didn't finish his last year of school. In reality, Harry had graduated many years before because the book came out way earlier... plus the book took place earlier since it followed the timeline of the original book, the Battle of Hogwarts took place on May 2,1998... Anyway... yeah. Graduating with Andy was the best. And it was really personal because I grew up with him and with Pixar movies... clearly and I've learned  most of everything i know from them... so yeah.

4) Toy Story- You can't beat the original right? Well, okay 3 titles beat the Original Pixar movie... lol. But this is such a good one. My dad took me to see it when I was little. The animation was so cool and I love that it still holds up today. And the story is just relatable. No one likes being replaced with a cooler model. Plus it was funny... so many good things that are Pixar staples were established in this movie... Pizza Planet, Dinoco... just a great great movie!

3) Finding Nemo- This is such an exciting movie. I've seen it so many times and its still such a fun, exciting movie to watch. The story is so moving, really great to see the journey of Marlon finding his son and Dory is a funny character... Squirt and Crush are really fun. I really like fish in general and this was so well animated that it is better than a trip to the aquarium. Really beautifully lit and everything as well. This was just a beautiful, beautiful movie. One of my favorites of all time... and I don't think I'll ever get tired of this one.

2) Inside Out- This was such a fun movie to watch! This was also really well animated, really emotional... I don't think I've ever cried harder at a movie... I also think this is just a good parenting movie. I think it would be a good movie to watch before "the talk" which is a little weird... but it has a lot to do with growing up and emotions... and you know what? I totally buy it. After seeing it I saw a bug in the tub and at first I felt disgusted, then scared and then just angry... and then joy and sadness lol... and it was like they were all just pressing the button... and it makes sense to me that you get songs stuck in your head that way and thats how core memories work and over time happy memories become sad and Sadness and Joy need to go on a journey to understand each other. And all the emotions and the characters were just really good. This got me back on board the Pixar train... I'm excited for their next few movies... even though they're mostly sequels... and I just think its a great movie. Really nicely animated too. I could see this even having a sequel and it being good. Idk, I'd like to see the emotions from more perspectives.

1) Monsters Inc- My favorite of all time. It is emotional... but nothing that will really make you cry the way a lot of other Pixar movies will... it is genuinely funny and it is adorable. They had to invent a technology to make Sully's hair move and it really looks amazing in the movie! I really like Monsters in general because of this movie. I wanted to work at Pixar for a long time because of this movie... I just think its amazing. I'll watch this a million times too and I think it'll always be my favorite. The cutest, best characters. Its animated so well and I just like the world of it. I like Monstropolis and Boo and just everything about this movie. So fun, one of the best. One of my favorite movies ever... I love it.

Scribbles About TV: Jane The Virgin Finale Review (SPOILERS)

So.... Can we talk about all the twists because there were a lot! I didn't even see all of them coming! Alrighty we start out in typical Jane The Virgin Mode with Jane's choice between Raphael and Michael... I'd be okay with either but I think I'm team Michael. Jane has a weird moment with Raphael and thinks she's better off without him and just having him be the father of her child. She's also starting to have some feelings for Michael again. Then she almost has the baby on the bus and some woman helps her and gets the bus driver to take her to the hospital. Rogellio and Xo are in Vegas and they get drunk and can't remember what happens, but they make it just in time to see Jane deliver a baby boy. I knew it would be a boy! Lets pause on that a little and go to Michael and his ex partner/friend with benefits who comes back says she has a lead on Sin Rostro, gives him an address where the plastic surgeon is and by the time Michael gets there, he's de

Disney Store Closing Haul

So if you read my post from yesterday- you know that I love The Disney Store, but it is unfortunately closing. I did pick up some things from the store that I thought I'd share with you guys! I did get a couple of t shirts. One is a Star Wars shirt, which is technically a men's shirt but I thought it looked really cool and I don't like that Disney doesn't carry the same things for men and for women. For the most part they look unisex to me and a lot of their men's stuff has characters I like better. Like the star wars shirt for women was grey with pink lettering and had no pictures, but the mens shirt had a really cool metallic silver logo on black clothing with pictures of all the new characters and Luke inside of the letters... much cooler! So I got that! The other shirt I got is really funny and it has Sleeping Beauty on it and it says "I Woke Up Like This." Which I really liked! Super cute and funny and my niece likes it when I wear shirts with c

Scribbles About Life: 3.10.16

Soooo... I don't really want to post about my day... but I don't really want to post anything else either. I started writing something about female characters in movies and TV... but I just didn't like what I was writing and... idk... I was a blog writing machine this week and now I feel defeated. I wrote a ton on Monday and Tuesday and now I just don't feel like doing a post today... but I want to write still... So I'll talk about things that I guess are on my mind lately... Idk. So I got this Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor... and for some reason... I'm addicted to the way that it smells. Idk why, it smells like cherry medicine... but I also sort of like it. Its more cherry than medicine... and I can't smell it on my lips... but Idk. I keep smelling it in the tube. I got some cute stuff from American Eagle yesterday too! I got a dress and a romper... I do not own any Rompers... except this one... but it looked good on me and it didn't make me look f
