Mini Movie Reviews 2!

Hello all! I've seen some more movies on tv or netflix or amazon or whatnot so I figured I'd do some more mini reviews. Since these movies aren't out in theaters anymore I don't want to go into a lot of detail... so I'm just going to tell you if you should see it or skip it.

1) The Incredible Burt Wonderstone- This didn't look that bad... but it got some bad reviews. I thought comedy with Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi and Jim Carey... how bad can it be? It was pretty bad. It wasn't unwatchable completely it had enjoyable moments and everything, but it was not that great. It was slightly offensive to women, it wasn't too too bad I just may be sensitive to this fact... idk. It did pick up in the middle though, so I almost said see it... but honestly there are wayyy better things you could see on demand. I'm gonna go with a Skip It!

(also it seems like this movie should be a kids movie... but it is pretty inappropriate for kids. Just thought I'd mention that in bold because it's a big deal.)

2) Dallas Buyers Club- this movie was incredible. I didn't like it at first because it was really depressing and Matthew McCaugnehey's character was just not likable at all... But it got sooo much better. I think that he and Jared Leto should both win. Also Russell Edgington from trueblood/ Spalding from Coven was in it and he is a really fantastic actor. He only had a small part, but he doesn't need a big part even. He is such a great character actor he can really bring it with even a small role. Definitely See it!

3) That's My Boy- dear god avoid this movie by all costs. I wanted to watch something a little lighter after seeing Dallas Buyers Club and even though this looked horrible I thought "well you don't mess with the Zohan wasn't even that bad... How much worse could this be." Famous last words. I turned it off very quickly in the movie because it was just so bad. Adam Sandler is such a funny guy too it saddens me that he sold out sooo much. Skip it!!!!!!!

4) Blue Valentine- I had sort of been wanting to see this a long time but also sort of not. I wanted to see more Ryan Gosling movies because I think he's super talented... but I've only seen him in The Notebook, Remember the Titans, and Crazy Stupid Love... and those probably are not the best Ryan Gosling movies to watch... although I love Crazy Stupid love... lol. Anyhoo it didn't sound like it would be something that I liked, but it sounded interesting and I want to be able to say "Ryan Gosling is sooo talented" for more than just because he's hot.... and now I can. The movie was really sad but he and Michelle Williams were excellent in it. It is an amazing movie and it's very sad, but mostly just interesting. I didn't cry at all during the movie just because I was so interested in the characters. Definitely See it!

5) 12 Years a Slave- So this movie is out in theaters right now, it isn't on Netflix or anything, but I figured I'd include it in here rather than doing a full review because it wasn't playing in theaters everywhere. It took me quite a while to find it actually. This is an Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe winning movie that I wanted to see anyway but I also had to see it for class. It was really really good, everyone in it was incredibly talented and the director really made you feel like you were in the situation yourself. It's an incredibly hard movie to watch because there are a lot of graphic violent scenes and a lot of social injustice, but I don't think there are any other movies quite like it and I thought it was just spectacular. Must See for Sure!

6) Bob's Burgers- This is a tv show, which I've been watching on Netflix and Hulu Plus has the Fourth season, I just need to see the Third and I'm good! It's sooo soo funny. Just a fun show to watch and just enjoy. Incredible voice actors... really funny characters. Just a great show all around. The voice of Bob is H. Jon Benjamin who is also the voice of Archer and he's just sooo soo funny in it. I really like it. See it!

7) Portlandia- I feel like I should have been watching both this and Bob's Burgers a long time ago. If you like sketch comedy and you think hipsters are funny and you like making fun of them... this is a great show for you. The interesting thing about it is that its a sketch show with different characters, but it feels more realistic because they are kind of related. It all takes place in Portland, so it's all in the same world. Really funny. Fred and Carrie are great, Kyle Maclachlan is in it and he is great. I love him I actually have a bit of a crush on him now just because he's in sooo many things that I watch. Definitely See it!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
