Scribbles About TV: Easy (Netflix)

So I saw this in my suggested videos to watch after I finished Girlboss and I thought "Ehhh... why not!" So I watched it... and it's an okay show. Not every storyline really got me... I couldn't relate to most of them actually but some were kind of good and relatable and some were a little boring to me... this could be different for everyone... but it's just sort of one of those things... I kind of think this is a hidden gem of Netflix.

I'm going to link this blog post that criticizes the show for playing into rape culture... I see this bloggers point of view... I think that was maybe my initial response to the particular scenes mentioned in the episode... but I don't know that I really agree about those scenes in particular... Maybe this is something that needs more talking about... but I don't think I'm the person to discuss it here. I don't know where to begin that discussion... but it's a valid point and something I wish the filmmakers would have done differently.

There are quite a few unanswered questions with this series as a whole. Only one episode has a follow up story on it... and at the beginning we see all of the stories are kind of intertwined... but it is an anthology series, so you don't see every character in every episode. And that's kind of interesting... but at the same time... I don't think every episode really related to me... I couldn't connect with a lot of them... and some of them were more interesting than others.

The cutest episode of the show- in my opinion- was called Vegan Cinderella. One girl meets a girl that she really likes- she brings her home and then when she asks if she wants to get breakfast the girl says she's vegan. Later she finds out this girl is an activist, she supports small, local art and theater and the main girl, Chase, isn't really interested in any of these things... she just pretends to be because she's so in love with this other girl, Jo. It ends happily and it's pretty cute... and that is an easy story to relate to. There are so many times where after a relationship I'm like "wait... did I even really like that thing? Or did I just like it because he liked it?" And I'm sure it happens a lot with guys and girls too... it's hard to decide what you actually like if someone is sort of influencing your opinion.... it's just kind of hard.

There's also an episode with Orlando Bloom and Malin Ackerman where they're a stable couple who love each other a lot and they have a baby... but when they hear about Tinder they feel like they're missing out on something and decide to see if anyone is interested in them as a couple... and they get a response from the woman's friend and... they get together with her. And that was sort of an oddly sweet episode. Orlando Bloom is also super hot... so that was nice to see... but yeah. The end of the episode was as cute an ending as an episode about a threesome could be? Lol. The chemistry between all of the actors was there... lol.

There was one with Marc Maron that was pretty good also. I feel like there's a lot to explain with that one... he's an artist that uses his relationships a little too closely as inspiration for his art... and the girl does "Selfie art" and she sort of does the same thing with him... and he gets angry about it... so that was a funny one to watch.

As I said not all the episodes really related to me... the least of which was Brewery Brothers... which was the only episode with a follow up episode... so that was kind of unfortunate. That one is probably more relevant for men though... so if you're watching this with a boyfriend or a husband... maybe they would relate to different things differently... and that is something interesting right?

The show also took place in Chicago... and it felt very much like a Chicago promotional video... it seemed like maybe travel agents put it together... lol. It was really unique and creative... but it did show a lot of touristy bits about Chicago... which some people may or may not like... I thought it was cool. I always wanted to go to Chicago... it's somewhere I could see myself living... and this just kind of highlighted a lot of aspects of it. It was pretty and interesting... and different.

So yeah. Overall... I did watch the whole thing... not my favorite thing I've ever watched though! It's kind of a hidden gem of Netflix though... and now I'd like to look for some more hidden gems because I bet there are a lot! It's something to watch if you're looking for something different. I don't think there will be any more seasons of this show... I don't know for sure though! But it's worth checking out.

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
