This is something I did for a while on an older blog... and I thought I would start doing it here because its super easy to do and I just really like it... so here is a Hump Day Throwback for ya!
My Humps by The Black Eyed Peas
Thats right! The Black Eyed Peas classic song in my opinion which they played at all of my middle school dances... although it was edited so much it made no sense... but was still wildly inappropriate! Lol.
I started thinking of this last night cause for some reason I got it stuck in my head... but whenever I sing it out loud, I don't sing the regular version, I sing the Will Ferrell version from Blades of Glory which is wayy funnier and I guess somehow more catchy than this one. Lol.
Soooo... this song I feel like is kind of incredibly sexist... but also it kind of did something that I think is good for women in the long run. The lyrics are pretty much saying that women only like guys for money and guys only like women for their butts and boobs... which shouldn't really be a thing. But it was Fergie's real breakout and I think she's a pretty awesome lady! Idk if she's done anything super feministy or anything... but isn't it enough that she's just a cool lady and mom and singer? I think thats pretty cool. And she has a line for Wet n Wild... which I'm all for because it is good quality affordable make up for women! Soooo yeah she gets feminist points I think. I think there is going to be a bit of a feminist rant tomorrow cause... I'm just feeling it. Idk about you guys but I feel like every once and a while, something happens and everything on the news is sexist or super feminist or upsets women in some way and it just makes us all upset over everything else in the world that is even minorly not okay and brings us stronger as a group.
No, it isn't our periods. Lol.
Also like... this is a song. Not all songs change the world... so if its kinda sexist... meh... what are you really expecting from a song? Most songs are. Some songs do sort of change the world: I'd say the song that John Legend and Common wrote for Selma sort of did... but yeah. Lol. We'll get to that.
But yeah, this song is still fun to listen to, I think its still good and I kind of loathe the Black Eyed Peas now... and its just a fun little throwback and since wednesday is humpday... I figured I'd mention it!
Byeeee!
