Scribbles About Tv: The Grace Helbig Show Review

So here's something I was pretty excited about! GraceHelbig from youtube now has a talk show on E! I love Grace, I haven't watched her videos in such a long time... but when I heard she had a movie out recently and a book and a talk show now, I got excited. She's a genuinely talented person and she's really funny and seems nice and down to earth. Plus She's a Jersey Girl, which always makes me really happy.

So the show is kind of like a normal show, and also kind of not that normal. She describes it as an Introvert's talk show. There is no studio audience its filmed in a little house... idk if its a real house or a set that looks like a house, but I think thats cool. I'm pretty much an introvert myself, so I like that about it. It also seems like she has some sketches and characters too. It reminds me a little of Comedy Bang Bang. If you like CBB and you like Jimmy Fallon and you like sort of an awkward shy sense of humor than I think you'll really like it.

The first episode was really cool because she had Aisha Tyler on, and it didn't seem like she was really promoting anything, they were just kind of talking and Grace was a really great host. She asked interesting questions and seemed genuinely happy to be hosting the show and talking to Aisha and she just seemed like a natural host that also felt unnatural in her element. It was all very real you could kind of see "ohhh wow she's so good she's a natural at this" but also "anyone can do this" which is a good mixture.

Then she had her friend and the writer of Camp Takota, and I believe another youtube star on. Mamrie Hart. They played a game where they watched viral videos and whoever laughed first had to do a shot. I think thats a cool way of incorporating her internet fame in with the theme of the show and the games. It just really worked for the show and they just looked so cozy in the house setting and like they were just fun. Girls having fun on the internet doing fun stuff.

And then at the end there was sort of a sketch. It was a character from Grace's podcast... totally didn't know she had a podcast... anyway he was trying to come up with a theme song for her because she didn't have a theme song yet and that was cute and fun and different.

Overall, the show gets a big thumbs up for me. As someone familiar with some of Grace's work, but not all of it, I think its really cool. I kind of want to start my own introverted talk show type of thing and I actually do plan on doing that in the near future... so yeah. Look out for that ;)

Byeeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
