Scribbles about Movies: Trailer Reviews- Reboot/Sequel Edition

1) Star Wars: The Force Awakens- This looks awesome. A lot of people are analyzing this trailer... I'm not quite sure. There was actually a lot of new info for a teaser trailer.

2) Jurassic World- I kind of want to see this movie...but the trailer looks terrible! Idk it just looks stupid. Beautiful but like "well that's dumb." It looks slightly magical... but its not a 90s movie. There is something about a 90s and early 2000s movie that... you can't replicate today. Its magical and mystical and filled with technology that is amazing for the time... this just looks like a run of the mill action movie. Nothing special. Another dumb reboot we didn't need. Just mehhh.

3) Minions- I think this looks amazing. Now I may be biased because I love the Minions... but put the minion factor of it all aside... this is such a creative and different movie. I love the concept. It isn't a sequel or remake. Its an origin story of the Minions and how they came into existence. They're ancient creatures that have been around as long as the dinosaurs and their purpose in life is to find a villain and assist that villain. How creative is that???? They came up with that concept just from something that was originally supposed to be a henchman. I'm so impressed and excited for this movie! Also they play David Bowie in the trailer!

4) Pitch Perfect 2- This looks... both good and problematic. Its funny, it has everything we've loved about the original... but thats kind of the problem. Its a little too similar to the original. In the first movie no all female team had won the championship, in this one no American team has ever won... kinda the same. Adam Devine hits on Rebel Wilson... kinda the same. Its not a shot for shot remake like The Hangover 2, so this could be okay... but it could be bad. I don't think it will be bad, but it might not be something I can watch over and over again.

5) Pan- Again... this could have benefited from the 90s movie thing I mentioned... which would have made it Hook, which is an excellent movie. Anyway yeah umm this looks weird. I really like Peter Pan, but this is really dark. The cast is good. Garret Hedlund, Rooney Mara, Hugh Jackman, thats cool but its so so dark. Idk I'm a little over the "Dark Fairy Tale" trend. I like Once Upon a Time and I'll definitely see Into The Woods... but idk. May have run its corse, not sure how I feel. I may get more excited when it actually comes out... but I feel over it right now.

6) The Avengers Age of Ultron- I really liked the Avengers and I'm slightly SLIGHTLY more into Marvel because of Guardians of the Galaxy. But again... this could benefit from the 90s feel that the first movie did actually have. The villain looks scary and cool though, I'm a little into it. Idk its not quite as dark as every run of the mill action movie, so there's that.

7) The Spongebob Movie: Sponge out of Water- This looks creepy... on so many levels. CGI= Creepy. Having Patrick look like he's oggling some girl while he's really admiring her ice cream cone= creepy. Giant versions of the Spongebob gang including a shirtless Patrick? Creepy! Its also been established many times in the show that Spongebob and his underwater friends cannot survive above water... so the whole concept of this movie makes no sense with the Spongebob I know and love.

Okay, I'm done with these remakes, reboots, sequels, spinoffs and re-imaginings. I'm not saying they were bad, I'd actually see pretty much all of these movies except Spongebob. I'm really excited for Minions.

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
