Heyyy all this is the blog where I tell the top 5 things of the week and tell you my thoughts on them. This week I'm going to do Itunes, Movies in theaters, and I'll try to do dvd charts cause why not.
Music! (itunes)
5) Maps by Maroon 5- So the preview from this song actually sounds pretty good and different. I like Maroon 5 but I get tired of all their songs really quick. It's just hard when they play them on the radio over and over again and they play them all the time on my work soundtrack... and then they play the glee version on my work soundtrack (random. They don't really play glee at work anymore, but as far as I know we're the only store for grown up adult women that played songs from the Glee soundtrack... like a lot.) Anyway this is pretty good. I don't think this will be "the song of the summer" but it could be a good song that I'll like for a week or so.
Also this has a really beautiful cover design for the single on itunes. Very pretty.
4) Problem by Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea- I've never been crazy about Ariana Grande. I said that last time I thought when I heard The Way that it was a song from the 90s and I was surprised that they played that on the soundtrack at work (although clearly as I've mentioned above... we play some random stuff.) Anyway this song isn't as bad as The Way, but I'm still not a fan. I kind of do think this could be the song of the summer, but hopefully that doesn't stick around. Carly Rae Jepson and Goteye were huge a few summers ago and now they are almost unheard of!
3) Am I Wrong by Nico and Vinz- This was in the last top charts I did! This was the song I thought could be the summer song and this is what I'm rooting for as the summer song. I thought it was pretty good. It was and still is probably better than anything else on the list. They've come out of no where it seems like and now they're number 3 on itunes. That's a good song.
2) Stay With Me by Sam Smith- Ohhh we play this at work too. I actually like this song. It's sweet and cute. It's a little like the John Legend song that was just so popular and I liked that a lot. It's nice to hear a cute song that is by someone other than One Direction, especially since there are so many songs that are like "i want to do you all day every day." I think that's Robin Thicke's new single... lol. Anyway yeah this is cute and nice and I like it. I don't love it, probably will get sick of it, but I like it.
1) Rude by MAGIC!- I guess this is the song of the summer and here is how I can tell. Basically when a song becomes the summer song: I either start out hating it and then it gets played so much that I accept it until it becomes a part of me, completely invading my head in a way I don't think I approve of.... OR I like it and then it gets overplayed and I start to hate it or I defend it when everyone else hates it and then I eventually start hating it. And by next summer, I'll forget it even existed no matter what. This one is in the first category. I think its so stupid... but I find myself liking it but not in a way that I'm okay with... it's not a good song. Don't listen to it. You will feel bad about your life for hating it and then liking it. Plus the name MAGIC! all caps and an explanation point is just a bit much.
Box Office
5) Maleficent- I still haven't seen this movie. My sister loves the Disney Villains because she's a weirdo and Maleficent is her favorite, and she saw this movie but I don't think she loved it. I have yet to see it, I kind of want to... but I haven't been hearing anything amazing about it. Visually I've heard its amazing, which I appreciate in movies... but overall meh. I do want to see it, but I could see it when it goes to the $6 theater near my house or on hbo or something. Not my first priority.
4) Jersey Boys- I'm surprised about this tbh. It's the first week I thought it would do a little better. At work I was saying we get busy in a weird way whenever a big movie is out, because its pretty much dead when people are in the movie but before and after we get busy and I asked my dad what big movie was out and he said this. Clearly it wasn't this lol. I did this in my trailer review and I said I kind of thought it looked good but I don't really want to see it. I never really wanted to see the play because I don't think I'd want to see something where all the music is Frankie Valley and the four seasons... I understand and appreciate why he's important to the music industry... but at the same time I'm not a huge fan of men with overly high pitched voices and I wouldn't like seeing a whole movie of that alone... it just doesn't work.
Also summer is a weird time for a musical to be out... I think it would do wayyy better around the holidays because who doesn't want to see a musical around the holidays? Yeah this was meh... Probably won't see it.
3) How To Train Your Dragon 2- Also surprised by this. I feel like they kind of made A LOT of changes from the original and they waited a pretty long time between the original and the sequel. I saw the original movie and I thought it was good, but I didn't really want to see the sequel in theaters at least. I'll probably watch this one at home cause I think the dragon is cute... but meh.
2) 22 Jump Street- Let's just say I'm surprised by pretty much everything about this countdown today. I think this is its 2nd week and its still number 2. That isn't bad. I have a review on this movie I saw it on Tuesday. It was good but I wasn't amazed by it like I was with the original. It makes sense that it's number 2 though, like I said Channing Tatum is worth seeing in theaters. And so is Jonah Hill lol.
1) Think Like A Man Too- I didn't even know this was out this week! I'm wayyy behind! I need to see the first Think Like A Man. I really like Kevin Hart and I like Steve Harvey and I've always wanted to read the book. I like the full title Act like a woman think like a man. Another funny work soundtrack story: We used to play a song that I guess was from that soundtrack and I thought it said "You gotta Act Like a Puma and think like a bear" instead of "you gotta act like a woman and think like a man." lol. This is funny.
Now Idk if there actually are DVD charts... but we shall see. I found a website but it doesn't seem legit. I'll figure it out sometime this seems long enough.
ALrighty that is it for the weekly charts!
