New Girl Season 1 Review

The show and the season that brought us the Douchebag Jar, True American and everything that is adorkable- let's talk about Season 1 of New Girl!

So this show came out when I was in college and I remember kind of half watching a lot of episodes- especially in the later seasons... and I had kind of stopped watching all together after I finished college because I had forgotten what night it was on and it was on a channel I didn't really watch that much anymore... so I just forgot about it until it was ending. I had tried re-watching it on Netflix before- but I had seen the first episode so many times it was kind of hard to stick with it and keep on watching. This time I actually did finish at least a whole season and I'm still watching season 2 so... I think I'll actually finish the series this time! It's been fun and I've been enjoying it.

I think my favorite episode of the season is Jess and Julia- which is where Jess tries to get along with Nick's Girlfriend Julia... but Jess is bright and sunny and happy and Julia is not... and she really patronizes Jess over doing things like getting her a blanket and giving her a cupcake. It was just a good episode and it was super relatable.

I also think the Fancy Man episodes are funny. I really like Nick's friend Dirk in those episodes... he's a funny and creepy guy and it's funny to hear Nick say "He's the smartest guy I know" because Dirk is kind of an idiot too. I also really liked when Nick found a robe or something and he said that it "Smelled like Shakespeare." Nick's relationship with Jess's boyfriends is always really funny because usually he can relate to them and with Fancyman he just really looked up to him... it was just a funny situation to see them together.

I CANNOT see how people don't see Nick and Jess as a couple... it just seems so obvious to me that they belong together. I mean I haven't seen the end of the show- so as far as I know they don't end up together... but I think I know what happens. Anyway- I think the relationship is paced well and it's kind of believable that their chemistry ends up in a relationship and an on again off again one too. Plus it feels balanced with CeeCee and Schmidt's relationship.

The characters on this show are very funny and kind of over the top... but also relatable and I'm kind of like them and I feel like I know people like them... there are just so many situations they get themselves into that are so funny. In this season one that comes to mind is the episode where Jess and the Loft watch Fancyman's daughter and all of Jess's roommates have something completely inappropriate going on. CeeCee thinks she's pregnant, Nick has a younger girl that he's been seeing over... it's just so many things that are relatable but there's just so much and it's so funny and relatable.

I know the writing team behind this show are now working on the show Single Parents which is kind of a similar show and it's also really funny... so I think if you watch one of these shows you might like the other one. My mom and I like Single Parents a lot- so I think I'll watch this show with her eventually cause she might think it's funny too. And I should probably catch up on Single Parents because I need to catch up on that.

Alright I hope you guys like this!

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
