13 Nights of Blogoween Day 6: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's do the Time Warp Again

I was actually really looking forward to the new Rocky Horror remake on Fox. A few years ago I was very against it... but honestly remakes don't make me that mad. That's something that maybe I'll talk about one day... but yeah.

I thought this looked pretty okay and the fact that it was on TV instead of an actual feature length movie... kind of set my expectations there. Its not going to be anywhere as good as the original, or any movie really... but it might be fun to see a different take on the movie.

To be completely honest... I don't love The Rocky Horror Picture Show... its never really been my thing. I like it for the 70s movie aspect of it, I like the edginess, and I like the music, makeup and costumes. And that's kind of enough for me... and I think this movie was missing some of those parts.

The edginess wasn't really there for me. I guess it was raunchy for a show on network television... but it couldn't really go where the first movie went... and that's what I was expecting because of the format... so that's not really disappointing its just an "Okay... here's why they maybe shouldn't have done a remake of this." Type of thing.

The costumes were all really cool. I like that they sort of stuck to the original...but everything looked a little more modern. During the commercials they had a little snippet about the costumes and makeup and I thought that that was kind of cool. They really did a good job of kind of updating that... but they didn't make it too modern because Janet has to be somewhat conservative at the beginning of the film, and then at the end she gets sexy. And of corse Magenta was a maid, and Columbia had sort of a tap dancer type of look.I think Columbia and Magenta were my favorite characters in the original because they had the coolest costumes and I still think they're my favorites here... partially because of the costumes and partially because I really liked Columbia. I thought that actress was funny, she had a lot of personality and she was just really cool.

Same with the makeup. I think they really took some more modern trends along with some of the bright colorful nature of the original. It was pretty cool. I felt inspired for a halloween costume maybe...lol probably not. But still cool!

The music I kind of thought was hit and miss... as much as I love Laverne Cox... her singing voice just isn't as good as Tim Curry's and I was a little disappointed in that. I thought Time Warp could have been a little bit better too... I really love that song and this one didn't really excite me that much. I liked Victoria Justice, I liked Brad at the end too especially and Adam Lambert as Meatloaf was really good. (By Meatloaf I mean Eddie. Lol.)

And the one thing that ultimately ruined this movie is that it still feels too modern. Rocky Horror Picture Show doesn't totally make sense in 2016. Its just so perfect for when they released it... that I think that is the main issue and why so many people didn't really want this remade.

I liked Tim Curry in this and I liked the audience because I've never actually seen Rocky Horror in theaters or on stage... maybe that is part of why I didn't like it that much... but yeah.

So overall... kind of let down by this... I think mostly because of the music because I liked that so much in the original... and while these singers are good... idk the fact that I kind of thought "Meh" to their Time Warp... which is just an excellent song all around... it kinda shows this isn't the best. I had fun watching it, and maybe if they show it during the halloween season I'd still watch it... but meh.

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
