Chart Chat: 8.29.16

Alrighty! Let's see What is up in Hollywood this week!  There are some surprises I think!

10) Ben Hur- This fell quite a bit! Its opening wasn't a great success last week... but I'm a little surprised it is so low on the list this week. I think most people think "Okay, this looks boring and has no plot. If I really wanted to, I should just watch the original. And it's just getting horrible reviews... so I'll save my money and not see this." And yeah... pretty much. That's what I feel about a lot of movies. Action movies like this tend to do pretty well oversees, so I think it'll do fine... but still for the budget of this movie... no.

9)Jason Bourne - This is Jason Bourne's 5th week on the charts... and its maintained a pretty high number on the charts throughout the week. Matt Damon won't go out without a fight! Lol. But yeah. Fun American spy movie... not my favorite, but it could be one day if I'm really feeling like an action movie... I think this would be good to watch. And its just a popular thing.

8) Bad Moms- Again, 5th week on the charts! Moms aren't doing too shabby either! I don't think they've ever been number 1 on the charts, but they haven't been at the very bottom either. I think it looks funny. I can see this being one people would see multiple times too. If someone really liked it and then told their friend that is also a mom about it and said "ohhh this is really good." Its a really great concept. If you don't want to go out to the movie, I'd say to check out the podcast Blacklist Table Reads and listen to the episode Terrible Parents. That is a pretty hilarious movie and if you could listen to it or read it, I think you would like it if Bad Moms interested you at all. Even if you did see Bad Moms and you want something more, I'd recommend that movie!

7) War Dogs- This is the 2nd week for War Dogs on the charts... and I think it did a lot better last week, but I don't think this is a wide release movie just yet. It might be better received in a few weeks and even if they were to re-release it around Award Season, I think it would probably do pretty well. I think this movie looks great. There aren't many movies I really want to see out right now... but this looks really good. I think it'll be out a while though, so I'm not rushing to see it just yet... whereas Florence Foster Jenkins might be one I'm worrying about.

6) Pete's Dragon- This has been out for 3 weeks and its been doing relatively well! I think it's lost to Sausage Party and suicide squad. Pete's Dragon isn't a disney movie that is talked about all that often, the original I mean...whenever I hear people talking about disney classics... this isn't what I think of first... but it was a really cute movie and I've heard this one is beautifully done and it looks like one you should be excited for. I don't think this is doing as well as I expected it to do, its been behind Suicide Squad and Sausage Party most of the time... but this isn't maybe the best time for a family movie to be released? Kids are going back to school, its hot out and maybe families want to take their kids outside, or have them finish their summer reading or whatever before... and theres another kids movie out that people might be choosing. Either way, it definitely seems like a lot more grown ups are seeing grown up movies instead of things like this one. I'm a grown up... I'd rather see this than Sausage Party. Possibly more than Suicide Squad.

5) Mechanic: Resurrection- This seems like a great movie... to watch at home. It has Jason Stathum and Jessica Alba and its an action movie... idk about the reviews I can't imagine it being that good... and I haven't heard anything about it, so its pretty cool it still made the top 5. But I kind of want to see it... again at home. This doesn't seem like a movie to spend a lot of money on... but its good!

4) Sausage Party- I've talked about this a ton! I'm surprised this is such a hit... but idk why I'm that surprised. Seth Rogen is huge and he's hilarious, the movie looks super funny and I'm sure it is. And I guess most people like these sort of raunchy cartoons with the popularity of Family Guy... not really my thing. I do love Bob's Burgers... but still. I'll watch this on Netflix or something.

3) Kubo and the Two Strings- This is another "I'll watch on Netflix." Thing. I'm sure this will be on Netflix and it isn't really my type of cartoon... but it does look like a fun adventurous movie. I think it'd be good to go to at a Birthday Party. I could see this being a really cool kids party and parents and kids both loving it.

2) Suicide Squad- 4 weeks and it finally is not number 1! I'm not saying anything negative about this cause the more its out... the more I really want to see it! I think it'll be good, or at least a lot of fun to watch. I haven't seen any of this new DC series... but I still think there are going to be some good things about this movie that people are going to love. And frankly, I just want to see Harley Quinn in a movie. I think she's cool, I'd like see more of her. Even like an animated series just about her would be cool.

1) Don't Breathe- Again... this one shocks me! I've never heard of this. It is a horror movie I'm guessing. Ohh okay group of friends break into a blind man's house thinking they'll be able to rob him... and they can't. Okay this actually looks great from the trailer. Its an at home movie for me because I don't know many people that like horror movies. This is a thriller. Dylan Minnette from Goosebumps and Jane Levy from Suburgatory. This is very different than how I know the two of these actors... so that's interesting to see. It looks like a great thriller if you're looking for a good one this summer. I'm sure it didn't cost much money either, it looks like it takes place largely in one dark house... so good for them! I'm glad this is doing so well... even though its scary!

So yeah! There's a little plot twist version of Chart Chat! Hope you guys like it!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
