Shannon Watches Older Movies: Scream 1

So I used to do a lot of Mini Movie reviews when I was in college... but I haven't really been watching any older movies since I've been out of college so... yeah. I also decided I wanted to watch a horror movie tonight and can't choose what I want to watch... I want something kinda funny so I'm between Scream and Tusk... and tonight I think I'm gonna go with Scream... I've never seen this movie and why not watch it now? Scream  This movie is brilliant. Its kind of poking fun at itself and scary movies. Its very meta and tells you all the rules of scary movies, explains how they work and everything and breaks them at the same time! Its pretty cool! It was a lot like watching a long episode of Community. It was kind of exactly like Community, they should get Dan Harmon to write the next one. And its actually really scary and suspenseful too! When I watched it a long time ago I only saw the Drew Barrymore part and I was like "Why doesn't she just p

Scribbles About News: End of September-October

Alrighty! So I'm picking up with the news from the end of the last time of my news post to now... the end of October... so this should be fun! 1) Is There Life on Mars?- David Bowie was right! There is life on Mars! Well... its possible for there to be life on Mars at least. They found signs of salty, liquid water in the summer months. I'm guessing theres some sort of fish type creature living there... not sure. I'm sure there's life on other planets somewhere. I mean why would we be the only planet? There are Galaxies far,far away... they probably have some form of something right? This is the closest we've found to actual proof that there could be I guess... which is cool. I kind of hope we don't find anything. I don't know if people would be nice to a martian...lol. 2) Gotham City Baby?- Star of Gotham, Ben McKenzie and his on screen and apparently off screen girlfriend Morena Baccarin are expecting a baby together... well okay actually I haven't

The Great American Horror Story Rewatch: Every Season Episode 3

Alrighty Episode 3 of every season! I'm trying to watch them in order this time too. I was going to do the Halloween 2 part episodes together, but they don't quite match up every season... so yeah. Murder House  Murder House I kind of love this episode. I think its spooky at the end when Ben builds the Gazebo and Francis Conroy cries because she feels badly for the girl. This is the first appearance of Lilly Rabe, who is great on the show and in this season she's really great. I loved finding out about the history of the house and how it was built and everything. This also has strong connections to Coven. Dr. Montgomery has a Frankenstein complex, Madison Montgomery has a little bit of a frankenstein complex as well. Its just good. Asylum  No'reaster  Sister Mary Eunice being possessed is really quite scary. And I remember being disturbed by the fact that she kills the Mexican woman. It's even more disturbing that it will later be blamed on Pepper who is com

Woman Crush Wednesday: Rebecca Bunch AKA The Crazy Ex Girlfriend

So even though this show just started, its main character is already WCW worthy... so yeah! 1) She does what makes her happy- Rebecca didn't take her high paying job because she wasn't happy with it and she moved to West Covina because it just seemed like the type of place that would make her happy... and Josh just happens to live there. She knows what would make her happy and she just went for it. 2) She genuinely wants to be everyone's friend- In the first episode her new best friend (I forget her name... ugh) didn't like her very much until the end of the episode and she bonded with her really quickly. And then she became friends with Valencia, not just because she wanted to undermine her to get Josh, but because she thought they could be friends and go to vampire weekends together (that was one of my favorite jokes.) And she also wants to be friends with Josh, not just because she's in love with him, but the two really should be friends right? She's tryi

Scribbles About TV: Supergirl Review

So one of the shows I was most excited about this fall was Supergirl... and after seeing most of the other shows that debuted and loving them... I have to say this had a lot of competition. But I was still excited and I loved it and I think it's going to get even better. There was nothing wrong with this show. It was really cute, it was exciting, you could watch this with the whole family and there wouldn't be anything super inappropriate. They didn't make her costume too sexy and they really didn't sexualize Kara at all, which I think is super important and powerful. If I were to compare her to any other character from TV, I would say someone from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D or Dana Scully or someone. She's a very strong female character and she's not the only one on the show. There are plenty of really awesome ladies on the show. The characters were all really good too. Her sister was interesting, her friends from work, the photographer character I thought was r

Scribbles About Broadway: Something Rotten

So I think this is the first time I'll ever have a play review on here... and thats pretty cool. I kind of got into blogging when I went to see the play Avenue Q with my sister and  I wanted to talk about that day and stuff like that... so blogging about plays is pretty special to me. This play is also kind of special to me. I've wanted to see it since I saw the commercials. I thought "This looks promising." Then I saw the performance on Jimmy Fallon and I loved that Shakespeare was in it and he was really hot and just really funny and I needed to see it. I've been following the Facebook page for a while. I knew by the time it was my birthday the original cast would still likely be in it and it just looked so cool and funny that I needed to see it. So I wanted to go mostly because I love Shakespeare, I've studied Shakespeare a lot. I've read 12 of his plays I think some multiple times (I've read Othello like 4 times and that's my favorite.) I k

Weekly Wrap Up 10/25/15

Heyyy guys welcome to a very exciting weekly wrap up. I'm just gonna jump into the favorites! Favorites  Fitbit- It is only Sunday... but my new obsession is my new Fitbit that I just got for my birthday. Its so fun, easy to use, there are so many things you can do with this and the app its just awesome. It's really helping me stay on track with what I've been eating, how much I'm walking and how many calories I'm burning just from regular activities, plus how many calories I've eaten on the app. Its just fun and easy to use. I really like it. I'm going to do a review on this. I think I'm going to do some techy reviews from like a non-technical person... so expect to see a Scribbles About Gadgets on this sometime soon. I'm still getting the hang of it and stuff... so I'll keep you posted, but if you're trying to lose weight and you're thinking of getting one, go ahead and do it. Its awesome and its just a fun way to do stuff. You neve

5 Movies/TV Shows I think Deserve Reboots

So it seems like movies are getting re-booted every few minutes. Whether it be like 500 versions of Spiderman or some classic TV movie reboots that are in the works or a sequel to an old classic... some of these don't quite deserve to be rebooted... but there are a few I think really deserve another reboot or a sequel or something extra. The movies might have been good, but I don't think they all did them just right... so for that... here's some reboot ideas. 1) Get Smart- I didn't dislike the Steve Carell/ Anne Hathaway movie that came out a few years ago... but I feel like when you're re-booting a movie that already has a really funny and exciting source material it can be a little bit tricky. There were talks of a sequel... but I think they could do it a little better. I can imagine Jonah Hill writing it and Maybe Joel McHale or Ty Burrel for Maxwell and for Agent 99 I could see Abbi Jacobsen, Emma Stone, Amy Adams, Isla Fisher or Jenna Fisher. Maybe even Zooey

The Great American Horror Story Re-watch: Every Season Episode 2

So keeping up with the AHS Rewatch theme... I'm re-watching all the seasons but week by week and episode by episode and just giving a recap of what I think of the episode in the current season. This is just for me to try to connect different things and piece together how everything is related. I'm going out of order with the seasons and... yeah. Its just kind of a fun and different way for me to enjoy one of my favorite shows. Coven  Boy Parts  I started off with Coven this time because I didn't want to watch anything too scary right now... and Coven is probably the least scary season and... this episode is sort of on the light side too. I don't like the Frankenstein thing... I feel like this was a terrible misuse of Evan Peters. Ryan Murphy said he was good with physical acting... meh. I feel like Max Greenfield would have been good in this part! But yeah... no. I really like Cordelia, but at the start of the season, she's not nearly as good a character as Lana

Scribbles About TV: Scream Queens Theories

So after the Halloween 3 parter of Scream Queens, we have a bit of a hiatus and that gives a little time to put some theories together. These aren't necessarily theories of who the killer is, but its stuff to notice that way. Grace believes anything anyone tells her  Grace is pretty gullible to the point where its almost dumb. She seems to believe anything that anyone tells her, or jumps to the conclusion right away. Last episode she thought her boyfriend was studying just because he told her. She believed Zayday was kidnapped and really did stab the red devil because she told her that. She believes her boyfriends favorite movie is How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days... which I kind of doubt... She didn't know if the baby in the bathtub was male or female and she just assumed it was Chad Radwell, and she didn't believe the woman that told her it wasn't. She trusts people too easily and thats a little suspicious right? Also we have no idea if the baby is the killer. I thin

Woman Crush Wednesday: Harley Quinn

I'm going to be kind of honest... I don't know much about Harley Quinn at all. I know that she's a batman villain, I know she's The Joker's Girlfriend and I know Margot Robbie is playing her in Suicide Squad. That's about it... plus she may not be an "inspiring woman" the way I wanted to sort of have all these things because she is a villain... but she is a badass lady and does seem to fit that mold. Plus she's a little different in every comic or cartoon... so thats cool. 1) There aren't many female villains- I feel like comic books are really lacking in their female villains and it's pretty cool that the Batman series has so many. Gillian Flynn says she likes writing her female characters with major flaws to show women aren't perfect. Women can be just as evil and flawed as the male villains too, and the facet that we don't show enough bad women is partially one of the problems of giving these high standards for women to be perf

Scribbles About TV: Crazy Ex Girlfriend Review

So when I saw the preview of this I was like "this is going to be stupid and it's not going to last." Then when it got close to the premiere I was like "Are you crazy Shannon???? This is totally going to be your new favorite show and you're going to be obsessed!" So... thats kind of that. I watched half of it when it started and I thought it was okay, it was definitely something I wanted to watch more of and I wanted to see where it went... it looked like it had potential. Then I watched the whole episode and I really loved it. Its a funny satire and I love that they chose to do a musical with it. I think its brilliant because it shows the way that she is very dramatic and the last time she was truly happy was when she was at drama camp and she was singing and Josh was there. Plus it makes sense, she didn't move just for Josh, she barely knows Josh... but he does happen to live there and she did like everything he said about West Covina. Combine qu

Scribbles About Movies: Goosebumps

So I was excited when this movie came out. I'm not a big fan of the Goosebumps books, I think I read one once that was a choose your own adventure book, and I didn't know it was a choose your own adventure book at the time and I was confused by it. Plus I was afraid of everything as a kid, so it would have scared the pants off of me. Anyway the movie looked good so I wanted to see it. And overall its a good movie... it isn't fantastic though and there are a lot of reasons why. It started off really really slow. It felt like it took forever to get to the goosebumps books getting out... they could have cut some scenes out just to make it go a little bit faster. I would have rather seen more of the monster stuff than the exposition. They did a good job with the exposition and the set and everything, but they really took their time with it and I could have done with a little less of that. Another thing that I felt was a little weird were the jokes at the beginning. I liked

Weekly Wrap Up! 10/18/15

Hello guys! My birthday Week Weekly Wrap Up! Yayyy! Favorites  Plants vs. Zombies Vasebreaker Mini Game- I talked about this in my It List... but I am hooked on this game right now! And there are so many times I'll be like "I really don't like app games, its boring you just click your phone" but then other times I get really into them and that's all I'll do for hours... and this is one of those times. The vase breaker game is specifically fun because its so hard. You don't know where the big zombie is and you don't know where the plants are you need to beat him... and its just so fun and suspenseful and hard but satisfying to win... I just love it. Crazy Ex Girlfriend- Just saw the first episode and I'll have a review up on Tuesday... but this show is so good! I'm loving it so far! I think its really different and its well done. This could have been a complete disaster if they did it wrong, but they got it 100% right and I think it worked

The Great American Horror Story Rewatch: Every Season- Episode 1

So... I'm going to try something I've always wanted to do. I love American Horror Story and last year I kind of wanted to re-watch all the seasons 1 by one episode by episode. This week I'll watch Episode 1 of Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show and I already reviewed Hotel... but maybe I'll watch it again and see what happens. Idk how regularly I'll keep up with this one, but I'm going to try and if you guys like it, I'll keep up with it. If I get busy or if people hate it, I'll stop lol. This will probably be time Consuming Murder House Pilot  So this was really cool to re-watch. I always forget that we actually see Vivian walking in on her husband in the act. And the scene at the beginning where her doctor is comparing her to the house is a really good opening scene. I caught the reference to a mental Asylum in there pretty clearly... Its hard to say what the clue for Season 6 is because there wasn't too much dialogue. Maybe American Horr

October 2015 It List: Birthday Edition!!!!!

Sooo I did this last year and I'm doing it again this year. The month is like halfway done... plus its my birthday... so here are my favorites for the month! 1) Scream Queens- One of the funniest and Scariest shows I've ever seen is definitely #1 on my favorites list for this month. This is such a well done Horror Comedy... I typically love Horror Comedies and this one is probably my favorite that leans more towards the comedy side. There is currently a 3 week halloween special on... I'm watching Part One as I write this... and its already really funny and amazing. I love that they keep mentioning a Best Buy Parking Lot as a reference to Serial Season 1... its so funny. Such a great commentary and satire. Its like if American Horror Story were super funny. Super Super Funny. Its bloody and gory too... but the laughs don't ever really stop either. Its just really wells done. Great satire and just a good show. 2) American Horror Story- At the time I'm writing this
