Scribbles About Books: Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot (Slight spoilers)

I've been waiting for forever for this book and I just finally picked it up at Barnes and Noble and finished it in a few days. It was well worth the wait and a great way of doing an adult version of my favorite book from when I was a teen and preteen. I was really really happy with this book and everything about it basically I loved it.

So if you didn't read the series: Spoilers! Mia ends up with Michael. Duh. Of corse she does and in this book they're getting married.

The book opens with a gossip newspaper headline about Mia's Father, Prince Phillipee's arrest and it goes over what's been going on with the family for the past few years. We learn Mia's stepdad Mr. Gianini has passed away... which I wasn't fond of at first... but I like the sort of theme and sense of urgency it created throughout the novel. It factors into Michaels proposal and it motivates a lot of the actions created by the characters in the novel.

What I love about the original series that carried on into this series is that its a book you could put down... but I was so invested in the plot and the characters and all the plot twists that I wasn't going to put it down at all. It was just really good and It all just kind of flowed nicely and it isn't fast paced the way that John Green books are, but it isn't slow. Its really nicely paced.

And this one was so exciting in particular because there was so much going on. It started out with Mia's fathers arrest and she can't leave the house because of his election and everything with that so, there is that. Then there is the proposal and all the paparazzi on Mia for that. Then there's this big family secret that Mia finds out and she has to go save a certain person because that person isn't in a great situation. Then Mia finds out other news and that's exciting. Then finally the wedding which brings it all together in a crazy way that gives Mia and Michael a nice Happily Ever After.

So there is a lot of crazy stuff, a lot of sad stuff and a lot of good stuff that happens overall and it all works out and is tied up nicely... but not so nicely that there is no possibility for a sequel.

They also added more maturity to the characters. The original series was for teenagers, this is an adult book so there is some more adult stuff. Michael and Mia role play for example... which i thought was an interesting choice for the characters... but I wondered why they didn't do Buffy the Vampire Slayer or anything like that. And Borris is now an adult Justin Bieber and there are rumors that he cheated on Tina. Ling Su and Perin are together... which we knew in the original series but Mia didn't know. Mia is still friends with all of her high school friends... including Lana and Trish which is funny. And Mia is still very Mia. She's still a hypochondriac, still clueless of a lot of things, slightly more secure with her relationship with Michael... but still has her doubts and... yeah. Its nice to see that the characters have grown up and matured... but they're still exactly who they were in high school. I really liked that.

So overall loved this book. I finished it in just a few days, so clearly I loved it. I would read it again too it was so good! One of my favorites of the series if not THE favorite.

I also kind of want to have this known because I read the books when I was a little too young. These are teen books and they have a lot of mature content in them. The original series... so 11 is a little too young. 13 is a good age for the original series but these are definitely teen books. I feel like books should have ratings. This particular book, not for like a 13 year old. It doesn't curse and there aren't any sex scenes in it or anything... but it talks about sex... and so do all of the other books... but this one is from the perspective of an adult with a healthy sex life... which isn't really something a 13 year old can relate too... so there is that.

She does have a series for younger kids called "From the Notebook of A Middle School Princess" about *spoilers* Mia's half sister. And that is set in Genovia and illustrated by Meg Cabot... I feel like she should have released this series after... not that its geared toward the same audience as this book... but when you know Mia has a sister already, the reveal isn't that great. And I knew it was set in Genovia also... so I knew things worked out for Mia's dad and her sister... so that wasn't great. I kind of want to read that book too just because I am such a fan of the series.

So yeah, if you're kids see the movie and are begging to read the book series A) Not this book. B) You may have to answer questions about testicular cancer, and other topics you might not be ready to answer yet... although they explain it pretty well in the book. Just a warning!

Right now I just started The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Gailbraith aka Jk Rowling, and I'm really liking it so far!
Byeeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
