Throwback Thursday: The Fame Monster

So... one album of Gaga's that I use to really love... but now I have to say I'm slightly disappointed in is The Fame Monster. I'm not disappointed in it... I just think I liked it less than I realized. Two of the songs on this are very skippable... and I still like them more than a lot of songs by different singers... I can still listen  to them and like it. Those songs are "So Happy I could Die" and "Dance in The Dark." They aren't bad songs... but they're ones I just don't prefer listening to. Not sure why really... just not my things. So with those 2 being "skippable" there is also another song that I really liked at the time... but now I'm like "meh..." and that is Monster. I feel like if I'm ever super angry about a guy or something- I'll listen to this... but now I'm not particularly angry at anyone and I'm just like.... "ehhh... it's okay." The only reason I think I'm so

What's Up With Taylor Swift's New Video?????

I have a lot of feelings about this video... it's a pretty deep video- but this isn't the first time a music video has gone this deep... but it kind of surprised me from Taylor Swift. I have to say... I can never tell if I'm a fan of Taylor Swift or not. I like her music for the most part. I've listened to Speak Now, Red and 1989 in full... I think my favorite is Red... then Speak Now and then 1989. I want to listen to Red again because... I feel like I have newfound respect for it from this video.... and I'll get to that in a little bit... but I think Taylor was really proud of that album and she seemed to just really be happy with it. My initial reaction to hearing the song on the radio was that it sounded like "The Lego Movie's version of a Taylor Swift song." It just kind of sounded like a parody... which I guess it kind of is? Taylor Swift is good at parodying herself... but she doesn't like when other people try to get in on the joke. B

Some Throwback Favorites+ Why I might not be posting a lot next week!

Sooooo... here are some of my current throwback favorites... I'll explain why I may or may not be MIA this week at the end of the post... but yeah. First and foremost- what I'm snacking on right now: Polly O String Cheese. These are great. Costco had a big bag for $7 and my mom picked them up and they are amazing. I just found out there are people that just bite them instead of pulling the string cheese... that's wrong. I'm sorry- if you do that we can still be friends... but that's just wrong. Lol. Just kidding! but... it's wrong. Secondly Jack's Mannequin Everything in Transit... Loveee this cd. I just listened to it in full last night... it still gets me. It's one of my absolute favorites. I just kind of heard this band at Bamboozle and thought they sounded pretty good... so I bought this CD and it's one of my favorites! Glad I check out bands on a whim sometimes! And Lady Gaga... Mostly I've been listening to The Fame and The Fame Monst

Solar Eclipse- Why I didn't see it! Thoughts and feelings!

So I thought I'd talk a little bit about the Solar Eclipse because... I didn't end up seeing it IRL and here's why! 1) I wasn't really interested until last minute- I've seen lunar eclipses and stuff... those happen quite often... idk It just didn't seem like it was that impressive to me. I didn't know this was the only one that would happen nation-wide... and that's kind of cool... but I didn't really think I would see it... I didn't know it was a solar eclipse and that it was happening in the daytime until like the Friday before... I didn't know why people needed glasses for it and I just thought they were a gimmick type of thing... so I didn't really bother with it. I didn't really know it was rare or anything like that... and then I just figured it'd be the same as a lunar eclipse... but in the daytime. It kind of isn't. It's a little cooler than that. 2) I had no idea how to use the glasses... and I just didn'

Scribbles About TV: Marlon

This is a new show on NBC that I didn't really know existed... but there was nothing on to watch the night it debuted... and I like Marlon Wayans and so does my mom... so I kept it on and I actually thought it was pretty good. The concept of the show is that Marlon is a youtuber... at least- that's what it was in the first episode at least... the second episode kind of dropped that narrative of it... which was kind of weird. But Marlon and his wife are going through a divorce, but they're still very close and he still misses her.  The chemistry between Marlon and his wife Ashley- played by Essence Atkins is really great. They seem like old friends... and it kind of feels a little like they are still a couple... but it's just kind of enough that it works really well with the show... so I like that a lot. I think they're both really great on the show and it's funny. The friends on the show are really funny too... Diallo Riddle who plays Kevin is really f

Chart Chat 8.21.17

Onto the Chart Chat! I wanted to write this last night... but it was pretty late when I got home... so I just couldn't do it! 10) Wind River- Something tells me this movie is going to be complained about for being insensitive... maybe not though. It's about a murder investigation on a Native American reservation. It stars Jeremy Renner... who stars in every movie that's ever been released in August as far as I know... idk. I'm not the biggest fan of Jeremy Renner... I just idk. It does sound like the movie Witness with Harrison Ford... which is also a terrible movie if you ask me... lol. I know it got good reviews... but it was just kind of weird. Anyway yeah... number 10 on the charts- probably not a wide released movie... hopefully they were sensitive to other cultures in this. I'll check out reviews before watching it on TV. 9) The Dark Tower- This isn't off the charts yet, huh? This is one I'll maybe watch in a "Shannon watches things that annoy

Weekly Wrap Up 8.20.17

Sunday 8.13.17  This is just going to be the highlights of the week more or less... because I'm writing this all on Saturday... so if I remember something I'll write it down. Today I picked out my outfit for when I'm seeing Lady Gaga and my dad finished up working on my room. I still want to get shoes and maybe some accessories... but I'm really happy with the outfit. I have kind of a fancy skirt with a t shirt that has a skull on it. Monday 8.14.17  Babysitting today! It was fun... don't think much else happened. She was either very fussy when I was watching her... or she wasn't all that fussy... I can't quite remember lol. I also watched Mom and Life in Pieces... which are good shows... so that was good at least. Tuesday 8.15.17  On Tuesday I think the baby was fussy... and I had a good hair day. So that was good. Wednesday 8.16.17  I think I started writing some things today... it was a good day all in all and idk why really. Also Marlo

Scribbles About Food: Shannon Eats Steak! Moonstruck!

So... this might seem like a big deal... but I haven't eaten steak in a really long time. My parents LOVE steak and they gave it to me so often as a kid I just got tired of it... and I've only had it a few times in the past... 15 years maybe? I've had Chicken fried steak- which is really good. My dad got a hibachi recently and made hibachi steak that I liked. My friend's fiance made some steak kabobs recently also... and I liked that... so I just kind of wanted to venture into eating steak again because I'm getting a little tired of chicken. And there's a really good restaurant in Asbury called Moonstruck... and I thought that would be a good time to try some. My parents really love their steak- I love their food and I've realized this is a good place to try new things... so I got it... and I'll review the appetizer and dessert I had also! Appetizer  We always pretty much order the same appetizers... this time we only ordered the one appetizer whic

Favorite Things To Do: Disney's Hollywood Studios

So... It's been a long time since I've been to Disney... but I still thought I would talk about some of my favorite things to do at the parks... a LOT of these things aren't available to do anymore... or I'm not sure if they are or not... I just kind of wanted to talk about some of my favorite things to do there... so I'm going to. I just watched a vlog about Hollywood Studios- so that is kind of where I'm getting the idea for this. I don't think there was really a whole lot for me to do at Hollywood Studios as a kid... it was MGM Studios back then... I didn't want to go on Rock n Roller Coaster, I didn't go on Tower of Terror until I was in High School... I think I only went on The Great Movie Ride once as a kid and once in high school... so I'm not really sure what I did in this park to be honest. I think maybe we went to Hollywood Studios the day that we stayed at the hotels... I always remember it fondly because I do really love movies... b

Throwback Thursday: Lady Gaga The Fame

So I already did my review of Born This Way... now I'm backtracking a little and doing her first CD The Fame. I think I'll do The Fame Monster next week... I listened to that also... but I still haven't listened to every song on that CD because I don't really like every song on that CD. I was kind of expecting not to like this one as much as Born This Way... but to be honest... there are songs on Born This Way that I'm just a little "meh" about... sometimes I like them- sometimes I don't... I usually don't skip them... but I wouldn't seek them out ever. On The Fame I genuinely like every single song and would probably seek them out. I think "Eh, There's Nothing Else I Can Say" is the only one I'd categorize as "a bad song"... it isn't bad... but it kind of just sounds like "Mall Pop." I could imagine hearing it in a changing room and then not buying the pair of pants. I really like the song Brown Ey

Scribbles About Food: Back to College/School Snacks

So I thought this would just kind of be a fun thing to do... I'm just going to talk about what I ate in college as a snack- mostly when I didn't have much time to grab a meal before going to class... and yeah. Let's get right into it... PS... these aren't really healthy options... so yeah. There's that. This isn't something I had in college, but Keebler just released a "Pita and Hummus" or "Flatbread and Hummus" snack pack. This isn't super filling- but it would be a good snack in between classes... You're going to need to bring some breath mints to class or brush your teeth before if you want to smell good in class... I don't think I would do stuff like that for class... not even going to lie lol... if I was working with other people or if there was a cute boy- I would consider that... but yeah. Not the first thing I was worried about lol. Improv class I was a little more concerned... but I wasn't really concerned otherwise

Chart Chat 8.11-8.13.17

Alright! Let's jump in here! No real surprises this week... the #3 movie surprised me a little bit... but we'll get to that! 10) Atomic Blonde- Charlize Theron looks really awesome and badass in this summer action movie. The budget for this was 30,000,000... which honestly isn't that high for an Action movie. In the US It's made 42 million so far... I'm guessing it's slowly leaving theaters now... and I think it'll do really well worldwide. I thought this would do a little better... but it isn't the biggest movie out there and I don't think it had the critical praise of something like Baby Driver... which was a surprise hit and was out for quite a while. I'd still like to see this one. 9) The Glass Castle- I think this got relatively "meh" reviews... it didn't sound like that bad of a movie to me though... and there are quite a few stars in it. Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson... I'm a fan of both of them... kind of sort of I gu

Weekly Wrap Up 7.13.17

Sunday August 6th 2017   Today was kind of a chill day. I went out for dinner/ early lunch and to Starbucks with my parents… but that was about it. It was a nice day… just kind of chill. I don’t think I blogged… I think I watched some youtube videos and maybe I worked a little on my Instagram and Bullet Journal… but nothing big and it was just nice.   My brother in law took a cute picture of my niece on a bench that my dad was so excited to order and he ordered the picture… so we didn’t actually get it at Costco… but we are soon and that’s really fun. I slept in a little bit too. I mentioned last week that my parents were away on Friday and my dog missed them so he was up all night barking and then the next day I slept in… and I went to sleep pretty well on Saturday Night… but sleeping in on Sunday was good too… and I ended up staying up late at night and watching Coffeebreakwithdani’s vlogs… I don’t know why- I’ve been loving watching Vlogs where people are like their own

Today I... (8.11.17)

This is random... but I'm running out of things to write about... so let's talk about things in a more poetic way? I guess? Today I had a breakfast sandwich from Starbucks for Lunch. It was really yummy. Sausage Egg and Cheese... I love Breakfast food. Today I didn't feel great. It's my time of the month... and that is not fun at all. Today I had some Lindor chocolate... that is always a good thing. Today I filmed a video that I will eventually put on youtube. Today I also edited that video. Today I went to Target... that is always fun. Today I saw cute pictures of my baby niece. Today I talked to my sister about said cute niece. Today I ate Chicken Marsala. Yummy. Today I tried a charcoal sheet mask. I think my skin looks nice... but I don't think it's going to do anything for my blackheads... which is a little sad. Today I started reading the book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernov. Today I listened to the song Alexander Hamilton for the f

Disney (non human) Sidekicks: Good and Bad!

So remember when I said I wanted more Disney on this blog? Well- that's what you're getting today! I thought I'd talk about the animal and other not so human sidekicks to our favorite Disney heroes... and maybe villains? And I'll probably end up talking about more than just my favorites... but let's get into it! So first off I'm going to mention Gus Gus from Cinderella. Gus is my dad's name and his Dad's name... so the name has a lot of meaning to me personally... because Gus's are good people! Lol. Gus Gus is also probably one of the cutest side kicks... and I love his voice and everything too. I think I would have liked the Live Action Cinderella if the Mice were as cute as in the cartoon... because they were so fun in the cartoon... I just really loved them! If Genie isn't your favorite non-human sidekick... you're answer is wrong. I'm sorry, thank you for playing... but your answer is wrong. Unless he's just not what you wou

Throwback Thursday: The Drew Carey Show

So I just noticed this channel called Laf that has The Drew Carey Show on… pretty much all day… and I think all night they play Roseanne. I’m not sure if I even get this channel… I’m watching it at someone else’s house… but it had on The Drew Carey Show… and I was kind of excited. I don’t remember The Drew Carey show very well… I don’t think it’s available on DVD, it definitely isn’t on Netflix… maybe it’s on the ABC app… but it’s a bad show that’s pretty good in general… and I watched it as a kid- so I’m excited to watch it again.   This show is very much a product of it’s time… the jokes are kind of sexist- kind of non-pc… but at the same time kind of almost PC… the episode I have on now is about Drew standing up for his cross-dressing brother at the bar and now there are cross-dressers all in the bar…. it’s sort of a one step forward 2 steps back type of thing… I think maybe it’s 2 steps forward and one step back… but I’m not 100% sure. Lol.   I think my favorite person on

Being Nit Picky About TV Shows: Everything wrong with the first few minutes of Somewhere Between's 8/8 Episode

I'm a little bit nit picky about tv shows and movies... and I get it... writing is hard. It isn't easy to write a tv show or movie... but I know a little something about it... so I can kind of nit pick the little bit that I watched of the Paula Patton show on ABC "Somewhere Between." I don't watch the show enough to say "Ohhh this is a bad show." I honestly can't tell you what it's about... it sounds to me like they're trying to be Stranger Things- but I believe this was filmed before the popularity of Stranger Things and there's no noticeable supernatural element to it... So that's just kind of what I'm picking up on. Alright... I didn't really know what I was in for with this show until I watched the "last week on somewhere between" part. One of the male characters was being grabbed by a detective and he turned around and said "Woah, Woah Woah. Why are your hands on my person." ...? That's a common

Scribbles About News: Erin Hayes Fired from Kevin Can Wait, Colourpop Comes To Sephora, and More

Sooo I have a lot of news related stories that I have kind of strong opinions on right now... so I wanted to kind of talk about them. Let's start with the one thing that has just been upsetting me so much this week... and that is that Erin Hayes was fired from Kevin Can Wait and is going to be replaced with Leah Remini. Reps from the show said that this was not based off of Hayes' performance... they just wanted to add Lea Remini to the show and they couldn't afford to have both her and Erin Hayes on. Erin Hayes said that she was shocked and sad about being fired... but has no resentment towards the cast and crew of Kevin Can Wait... she had a fun time with it and she was very mature. They also said that they are not trying to re-create The King of Queens by adding Remini to the show. Kevin Can Wait is still it's own thing... they're just re-tooling it... and they just happen to be keeping all of the people from The King of Queens on the show. Ohhh and how are t
