Flashback Friday: Disney Renaissance Movies Ranked

I thought I would just do this because... why not. Someone on a Facebook group mentioned their least favorite disney movie of the 90s and I thought I'd rank them all. I've seen a majority of these movies in the last 10-ish years... except for one... which is:

10) The Rescuers Down Under- I don't know that I've ever seen this movie. They've showed it on Disney Channel when I was little... it never really held my interest and I'm sure it probably doesn't deserve to be 10 on the list... but because I've had no real desire to see it since I was little... it's at the bottom. I do have Bernard- I think- as a christmas ornament!

9) Tarzan- I've just never been a big fan of Tarzan. It isn't bad- I appreciate the animation of it... I'd still watch it... but I won't watch it whenever I see it on... it really has to be the only thing on for me to want to see it. I think it's even on Netflix now and I just haven't watched it. I'm a bigger fan of George of The Jungle... so I just never really gave Tarzan a chance!

8) The Hunchback of Notre Dame - This one I actually like a lot. I still have Christmas ornaments of this also... I think I have all the ornaments except Tarzan, Mulan and Hercules... so that's something right? This is so dark for a kids movie and I think it's one of the shorter movies too... so it always feels like all of this dark, dramatic stuff happens and then it's over. The characters are a lot of fun. Esmerelda is really pretty... the music is great. I like this movie- it just isn't the best of the Disney Renaissance.

7) Pocahontas- I watched Pocahontas recently... it's beautifully animated... I think this might be the most beautiful of the hand drawn disney movies... and I really appreciate all the colors and the music of it is amazing... it is a really good movie... but for some reason... not quite my favorite after seeing it recently. It didn't really hold my attention as much... it isn't really one to half watch... you need to sit down and make an event of watching Pocahontas... and that's good- but not always the most fun.

6) Mulan- Mulan is really cool. I like that it's in China. Pretty much all the Disney movies take place in different countries or are inspired by different countries... most I've never been to...  but China I think interests me the most and it's one I'm like "Idk if I'll ever get to China!" And this shows the Great Wall, the dragons. It is very brave of Mulan to fight for her father... but they also make it kind of funny. Like the scene where Mulan was taking a bath and then all the men get in... that cracked me up as a kid. And Eddie Murphy as Mushu... I just really liked the movie as a whole. This is one you definitely need to sit down and watch- much like Pocahontas... but this one is more fun to sit down and watch to me. You learn some history, you see a new place.

I think I like the music to Pocahontas a little bit better actually, Pocahontas is a little underrated as far as music and animation go... but Mulan is definitely a better story in my opinion.

5) The Lion King- Who doesn't love The Lion King, right? It's better than Hamlet- which it was loosely based off of... the songs are great. Characters are fun... not much to say about it... but it holds up!

4) The Little Mermaid- This is just a good movie! Everyone likes the little mermaid right? I feel like this should possibly be lower on the list... but I really like that it's about a mermaid... I like the music a whole lot... and Ariel is kind of awesome. So is Ursula... so are all of Ariel's animal friends... Under the Sea is a great song... Kiss The Girl is an underrated song... I just really like it a lot!

3) Beauty and The Beast- I love this movie! I think I liked the live action movie a little bit more... but I really love this movie! I love Belle. I think she's one of my favorite princesses. The one thing I don't like is the human version of the Beast... I didn't think he was that handsome... but he's a beast most of the time so that doesn't really matter... there are also lots of plot holes... but those are kind of ignorable because the movie is so good. So yeah.

2) Hercules- I love Hercules. I could watch this whenever. The music is great... I love Megara... i love Hades. I love how they made Olympus and the Underworld look... it's just all so so great! I think this is definitely an underrated Disney movie... it's a pretty unique Disney movie... it is one of the funniest... and I just really really love it!

1) Aladdin- Aladdin is my favorite. Again... I don't necessarily think this is underrated- but I do think a lot of the songs are kind of underrated. A Whole New World is the most memorable... but Friend Like Me and One Jump Ahead are such great songs too! I'm nervous for this live action movie... I hope it's a musical and I hope they get the Genie from the Broadway version of Aladdin as the Genie... It is rumored to be Gabriel Inglesias... which idk if I like or not... but yeah. I guess they can't just have Josh Gad in all of these movies- can they?

So that is everything! Hope you guys like it! Maybe I'll try re-watching some of these for Throwback Thursday sometime in the not so distant future... I already have one on Aladdin... so thats somewhere here.

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
