Scribbles About TV: American Gothic Review

I was really excited for this show! I thought it was going to be the best show this summer, it'd be really good a nice mystery... and I wasn't that disappointed... but its not all I thought it would be and I'll get to that more or less...

I thought the story was really good, and I thought the pilot was very strong. We're still in the dark about a lot of the things in the show and we found out what happened in a mysterious-but-believable way... so that was good. And you can tell the show is going places. The characters are interesting and theres a lot they could do with the show. Hopefully they kinda "go there" and make it a little more suspenseful and not as predictable because that's kind of how it goes sometimes.

It reminds me a little bit of the show Harper's Island, which was also on CBS and that had a lot of twists! I never actually watched the finale of that show, but the rest of it was pretty good! And the ending was a little disappointing but it wasn't predictable. Idk I liked that they made the one girls boyfriend a bad guy, that was unexpected... but I do think its a little bit of a cop out that the villain was the same as the original villain and he had never died...

Anyway... I don't think that'll happen with this show because we know the killer is someone in the family, but we don't know much else. Or at least someone in the family is involved somehow. So that's kind of cool.

There are some things I didn't like... 1) The Writing. It was a little off. And it might just be me being picky... but some things were over explained... There was a scene with the dad in the hospital that was just really bad. There were a lot of cheesy moments... and it wasn't terrible... everything happened the way it was supposed to happen... but some of the dialogue wasn't quite there. It wasn't horrible though, so that's all good. 2) The wardrobe... it was weird? Right? Am I the only one that notices this stuff? That yellow shirt at the end that just didn't really fit... it was odd. There were some odd wardrobe choices. It was a good show all in all... but there was some weird stuff that made it not a total home run.

But I still think its a fun mystery, I still like the characters and I'm excited to see more of it. Its creepy, its mysterious, its fun... and I think if you like scary shows, chances are you'll like it! Some of the stuff was like "really?" but overall I don't think it was badly written or anything but some of it could have been worded better or cut out or something... so there's that!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
