Scribbles About Food: Ice Cream and Gloria Jeans

This is kind of random... but I wanted to do a Scribble About food and I wanted to include some Ice Cream flavors/brands that are new to me and I tried something at Gloria Jeans that I think is limited edition and I wanted to include it here... so I'm gonna start with that. Caramel Coconut Macadamia Nut Chiller from Gloria Jeans  Not sure how readily available Gloria Jeans is, but if you can find one stop there because pretty much everything is good... and this is particularly amazing. For some reason I'm not sure if this has coconut in it or not... I feel like there was... it was good. It was like the Caramel Coco Cluster from Starbucks, but not with mocha. They put a lot of caramel in mine and it was really really good. Yuengling Root Beer Float Ice Cream  So there's been a craze around here of a brand of beer called "Not Your Fathers Root Beer" and as of now I have yet to try that... I will do a scribble about food of that once I try it. I have a 6 pack

Weekly Favorites+ What I Watched This Week 8/30/15

I feel like the weekly favorites for this week are a bit weird and random... so yeah. Nerd Therapy on Youtube- I recently started collecting Funko Pop figures and I love them, its really fun to pick them up and overall they just make me really happy. I kind of wanted to know more about Funkos so I looked up "Funko Pop" on youtube and found this channel with this couple that collects Funkos and other nerdy things and they'll do Funko Hauls, unboxing of different nerdy subscription boxes, vlogs where they hunt funko pop figures... and just overall cool stuff. And reviews of Funkos which is cool. Really fun and easy to watch and get hooked. If you love Funko Pop figures, you will probably love their channel and yeah. Its just cool to know whats out there. Serial- I've started listening to Season 1 of Serial again. I may write a book slightly inspired by it even because... idk I find it fascinating that Adnan is probably going to get off, which he honestly should, but

Why Mulder and Scully Make Sense as A Couple+ What I think of the new series

Alright, so in re-watching The X Files I've been trying to not view Mulder and Scully as a couple because I really wanted them to get together when I first watched it, but then in the 2nd movie I felt like there was kind of an issue with them being a couple. Idk I feel like they're still to vague about it. And here is my theory and it might be kind of a bummer... but basically I think they kind of have to be together because they can't actually be with anyone else. I don't think there is anyone else they will trust more than each other and I think there is no one else they will love more than each other and they can't be apart... so they need to be together. I feel like its very loving and beautiful that way... but also rather unromantic because they're more or less stuck with each other and I think... there's something to that. Something to them just being together because they have to that I appreciate. A lot of people say that they don't like them a

APPyness: Useful Ipad Apps for College Students

So... Full Disclosure... I'm writing this in June and probably won't post till August lol... but now that I'm done with college, I thought that I would share some of my favorite apps for the Ipad. These all got me through college. I used them a lot... or a little at least lol. I'll break it down into different categories and explain the specific apps and why I like them. College Specific/ Research Papers  Rutgers App- Now I'm just using the Rutgers app as an example because I went to Rutgers, I have the app on my phone... I'm sure pretty much every college has their own app. The two features I used most on these were the features for the online classes and especially the bus schedule. I only commuted to school during my last semester, and I went to a smaller Rutgers campus that just got a bus service this year... so this was good timing for the app and it ended up being super useful. I also took 2 online classes this semester and both of the sites that they

Scribbles About TV: Bojack Horseman Season 2

Bojack Horseman is a show I recommend to a lot of people and then I'm like... well hold on. Its very funny but I would say equally dark. It'll make you laugh, but it will also bum you out. I still think its worth watching because no other show really goes there really with its jokes and its sadness and its everything really. Lol. So in season 1 Diane Nguyen was writing a book about Bojack and that book kind of made him famous again and landed him his dream role as Secretariat... but Bojack is still trying and still failing at overall happiness. In this season he has a girlfriend and a breakup, his rival Mr. Peanutbutter gains success with a gameshow, Bojack's movie changes everything he liked about it. Its really a great season. The characters are really well developed in this season, they were pretty well developed last season... but this season they really stepped it up a level. Even Mr. Peanut Butter, who was pretty one note last season has this big arch about his ga

Scribbles About Books: Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot (Slight spoilers)

I've been waiting for forever for this book and I just finally picked it up at Barnes and Noble and finished it in a few days. It was well worth the wait and a great way of doing an adult version of my favorite book from when I was a teen and preteen. I was really really happy with this book and everything about it basically I loved it. So if you didn't read the series: Spoilers! Mia ends up with Michael. Duh. Of corse she does and in this book they're getting married. The book opens with a gossip newspaper headline about Mia's Father, Prince Phillipee's arrest and it goes over what's been going on with the family for the past few years. We learn Mia's stepdad Mr. Gianini has passed away... which I wasn't fond of at first... but I like the sort of theme and sense of urgency it created throughout the novel. It factors into Michaels proposal and it motivates a lot of the actions created by the characters in the novel. What I love about the original s

Chart Chat! August 24th, 2015

I haven't done one of these in a while and they're quite fun! So lets start! Music  iTunes Top 5  5) Drag Me Down by One Direction- Of corse a One Direction song is #5! Its a new song though so I think it will creep up the charts quite fast. Let me hear the sample on iTunes... Its pretty good. Zane was the hottest so it is sad that he's not part of the band anymore... but its still pretty good and he supports the band still and tweeted that he was proud of his boys! It sounds quite a bit like Maroon 5... different for One D... but still good. Pretty good. 4) Watch Me (Whip/ Nae Nae) by Silento- Not sure if this is just a terrible sample... but this is definitely one of the 5 worst songs of all time I'd be safe to say... yep probably in the top 3. I really hate it. This is annoying as hell. When I started the preview it just said "Now do the stanky leg. Now Do the stanky leg." like 5 times and then it just got worse. This is unironically horrible and I

Weekly Favorites: August 23, 2015. + More random stuff and Funko Pop Haul

So its weekly Favorites time! I feel like I knew my favorites pretty early this week, so I'm just going to hop right into it. Bojack Horesman- I love this show. Its one of my favorites and because I was watching The X Files so much, I hadn't seen the second season right away... but right now I'm caught up on The X Files Files and I sort of want to slow down on watching them... just a little bit, so that gave me some time to catch up on Season 2 of Bojack Horseman... and it is just as funny and sad as Season 1... if not more so! This show is really one of the most unique shows ever. It has horse and animals as people and its really really funny, but its also very melancholy. Its kind of like real life. You can have all the fame and fortune you want and still be unhappy, and Bojack is and its sad. These characters all have real problems and its sad to watch... but at the same time its too funny to really be a dark comedy. Its just a really fantastic, well written unique c

Bridesmaid Diaries: Choosing Bridesmaids+ Flower Girls and How to ask

So this one seems pretty simple, and again its kind of more of a personal preference type of thing picking out who your bridesmaids are and why you want them! Know How Big of a Bridal Party You Want  Sometimes people want a really big bridal party including all of their friends, and thats great! But sometimes people just want to keep it smaller, which is also great! Its about you and what you want to do and if you think the people that you're choosing as your bridesmaids will be happy with that.  If you have a lot of friends but don't want a big bridal party, either way your friends should have a fun time as a guest of the wedding and you can still invite them to bachelorette parties and bridal showers and have a good time with them. Don't pay too much attention to the amount of groomsmen  It doesn't really matter if the amount of Bridesmaids you have is different than the amount of groomsmen. If you have like 16 bridesmaids and like 2 groomsmen... thats one thi

Scribbles About News Topics: Participation Trophies and Plus Sizes

So this isn't a full on "Stuff that happened this week" news post, its more of an opinion type of thing. These issues I can kind of see both sides of the issue and Idk if I'm really going to take a side for either one. Should We Have Participation Trophies for Kids?  So some Athlete this week said its not a good thing to have Participation Trophies for kids because they need to be told that hard work pays off and that you have to work hard to win and that winners get the trophy. I think that kind of makes sense... but at the same time, I feel like Participation Trophies are an important part of being a kid... and I think if you're  going to give a kid something for participating, it should be in sports. I feel like getting a small trophy or ribbon or something for a team that didn't win but played is an okay thing. Everyone knows that they still lost... I don't totally think its sending out a mixed signal. I feel like if you give a kindergartener a p

Scribbles About Books: The Scorch Trials by James Dashner (Maze Runner Series book 2)** *SPOILERS***

So I just finished reading The Scorch Trials which is the second book in the Maze Runner Series. Its been a really long time since I read the first Maze Runner book... I think I read it my Sophomore year of college... so over 4 years ago! And I really liked the movie Maze Runner which came out last year. Thats definitely one of my favorite movies based on a book... ever really. I thought it was really exciting and well done. I think my only complaint about the movie was Teresa really wasn't in it much and I don't think they did a great job with the telepathy stuff... but still it was pretty good. So its been a long time since I've read that and I don't completely remember it... but I think I liked this one a lot better... for a bunch of reasons and I'm really excited to see the movie. The thing I think I liked most about this one was the character development. Thomas just seems like a regular "harry potter" type of character in the first Maze Runner. H

10 Comedies I Recommend You Watch

I've done a lot of "my favorite movie" lists and stuff like that... but right now I'm just going to recommend 5 movies that I think everyone can enjoy. These aren't necessarily the things I watch the most, and they aren't necessarily anything underrated or unheard of... These are just kind of what I think will be universally loved and they definitely are on my list... and there are probably a lot of people my age that haven't seen them. Everyone my age knows Mean Girls and Superbad, but have they ever seen The Big Lebowski? Maybe not. 1) The Big Lebowski- Definitely a strong favorite of mine. I haven't seen this a ton of times... but its got that 90s charm that you just don't see in movies any more and its just so funny. Jeff Bridges is amazing in it. I feel like now he's mostly a serious actor and I feel like that really adds to this performance cause its a big comedy and there are no like serious undertones to the movies or anything... but

Bridesmaid Diaries: Picking A Venue

Alright... so this isn't really something the bridesmaid has anything to do with... but I'll let you know anyway because there is a lot of stuff that goes into booking a venue and... its something you don't really hear a lot about... so I'm just going to let you know here. So I never realized that picking a venue and picking a date go hand in hand. Venue's get booked up A LOT so if you're going in planning a Saturday Wedding in June... not that likely to happen. The movie I think that got it pretty right is Bride Wars. The Plaza in June??? No. Not likely. And weekends are always the most popular time for a wedding... obviously so Saturdays are usually booked up. If you're having a lot of out-of- town people, Saturdays are probably the easiest... but Sundays aren't like a major inconvenience or anything. Plus the Saturday option for my sister was earlier in the day, so they would need to make sure everyone was out because there would be another wedding

Weekly Favorites and book and random stuff haul (8/17/15)

So I just did an it list... but I bought some random things and some books and I thought I'd include them in with my favorites because I love them all... lol. Haul  So I got 2 Funko Pop figures at Barnes and Noble. I've always wanted to start collecting these and... idk when I saw these at Barnes and Noble I was like "you know what I'm getting a couple!" So I got a minion... of corse! I got the Au Natural Minion, which is a Naked Minion that proves Evolution is real and its really funny. I also got a Sadness from Inside Out. I think she's really cute and she kind of looks like me... lol I have similar hair and glasses, and I don't wear turtlenecks... but I kind of look like her. Also Inside Out was such a great movie. The more I think about it... the more I love it and it reminded me of how much I love Pixar and all their movies and I wanted to work for them as a child and I still kind of do. I would love to write an animated movie for Pixar or Illumina

Scribbles About (Ear) Movies: Mr. Malcom's List

So I didn't know I would like this movie from The Blacklist Table Reads... so I waited a while until I watched it... and as it turns out it was really great. It's a period movie thats a lot like Jane Austen. It revolves around 2 girls, one is a higher class and one is a preacher's daughter or something like that and her name is Selina. The richer girl, who I believe is named Julia goes out to the opera with a rich and eligible man named Mr. Malcolm, whom she later finds out has a list of qualities he is looking for a woman and Julia doesn't meet any of his requirements... causing Julia to think he has "impossible standards" and gets outraged that he doesn't want her. Julia devises a plan to make Mr. Malcolm fall in love with Selina and then have Selina show him that she also has a list that doesn't meet her requirements. Selina doesn't completely agree with the plan, but she tells Julie she'll think about it and she does agree to go out wit

It List: August 2015

1) Vita Tops Deep Chocolate- These are my favorite thing that has happened as a result of my trying to get fit healthy snacks/ healthy breakfast type of a thing... because these are better than a lot of desserts that are more indulgent. They're these little muffin tops, only 100 calories per serving and on the box theres a little tip that you can burn 100 calories from 15 minutes of walking... which is very cool. I love little details like that. These you put in the freezer and then when you take them out microwave them for about 30 seconds and it is like a delicious chocolate cake that I think you can eat for breakfast because its a muffin top. Lol. Smart right? I usually have this for breakfast with some cereal and a coffee from the keurig, or I'll have it for dessert... but it is fantastic. I know you're supposed to have a bigger breakfast, thats why I eat this with the cereal. Lol. 2) Inside Out- I finally got to see this movie and it was well worth the wait! It is

Scribbles About TV- Shannon Watches Old TV Shows: The X Files Season 3 part 2

We ended on a favorite last time and we're starting with a favorite this time! So this is an exciting bunch also! Syzygy Still one of my favorites! Its so creepy but also funny. Its a little like Scream and Carrie... slightly more like Carrie with the characters, but like Scream with some of the deaths and the humor of it. A little Jaw-breakery too. I really liked this. And it was legitimately creepy because there was all this cult stuff and these deaths and the two teenage girls were so good and so creepy. And there was jealousy between Mulder and Scully... I feel like after Mulder got off the train in the last mythology episode, they hooked up. It totally makes sense with why Scully is so jealous in this and War of the Corpophages and why she's so upset with Mulder disagreeing with her in Revelations. Its not written anywhere... but if this was in real life I'd totally be like "THEY HOOKED UP!" Lol. Such a funny episode that is really scary too. This is a go

Scribbles About Books: An Abundance of Katherines (SPOILERS)

Just finished my final John Green book... and I have to say I'm glad I did this one last. This is the only one of his books that really ends on a really happy note, and thats really good! And this is the only one that I really wanted to have a happy ending. Paper Towns and Looking for Alaska, I didn't want the guy to get the girl. The Fault in Our Stars would have been HORRIBLE with a happy ending... thats kind of the point and this one I really felt like if it didn't end on a happy note.. it would be bad. I didn't actually like this book when I started... well I didn't dislike it, but its much harder to read. Its a book about a smart person,  written by a smart person and its kind of for smart people. Not that I'm not smart, but following the footnotes and stuff was kind of hard especially since I read it RIGHT after finishing The Fault in Our Stars. The Fault in Our Stars kind of took its time with the ending and explaining the aftermath of it all, which is

Scribbles About Books: The Fault In Our Stars (also movie comparison)

I recently finished The Fault in Our Stars after back to back John Green Books and here are my thoughts on it. I really love John Green's writing. I think its amazingly symbolic and you could probably read one book 20 times and find a different meaning for it each time... which is why I find different meanings in the movies compared to some of the books... which I mentioned in my review of the Paper Towns Movie...  I held off on reading this book or seeing the movie for a long time because of how teenagers kind of get with these things. I feel like there's sort of a glamorization of being sick or being near death that has happened recently and I think this book may have caused that little trend... however this book doesn't glamorize the situation at all. It shows all the struggles of real relationships, as well as in a relationship between 2 teenage cancer patients. It shows all the hard parts of helping the other when they're sick, how hard it is to be with som
