Woman Crush Wednesday: Leslie Knope

Leslie Knope is probably my favorite female character of all time... here is why shes' awesome. 1) She is an amazing best friend- She is such a good friend to Ann Perkins and pretty much everyone else in her life. Its no wonder why Jeremy Jamm thinks of her as his best friend! She is so nice and thoughtful and will do anything for her friends and go a thousand times above and beyond and outdo herself every year. Thats how good she is as a friend. And even more than that, she can be friends with absolutely anybody, even if they are complete opposites or have nothing in common. Leslie and Ron are opposed on everything, and yet somehow they're amazingly good friends. Leslie and April really have nothing in common, but they're best friends too. Its not something everyone can do, but Leslie can.  2) She might be "bossy" or "stubborn" but with good reason- If someone were to call Leslie Knope either of those words, I would personally take offense. It isn

Tag Tuesday:100 questions no one asks.

1:Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed? I don't have a closet door, so my closet is open. My door to my room is always closed though. 2:Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel? I have, but I probably wouldn't next time I'm in a hotel unless it was really nice. My hair needs a lot. 3:Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out? Tucked in I guess but then I kind of untuck it while I'm sleeping. Also sometimes I'm too lazy to make the bed before going to bed so I just do whatever with my blankets. 4:Have you ever stolen a street sign before? No but fun fact: My family named a street at my high school because it was a fund raiser award when my sister was in High school. Its changed since then, so we have the street sign downstairs. 5:Do you like to use post-it notes? Yeah, I write out things I need to do for the week on them. Also I used to write post it notes to my roommates and suite mates if I moved something in the k

Stuff That Happened This Week! 1/25/15

1) Comedy Central announces roast of Justin Bieber- This is exciting news for me because I hate Justin Bieber as a person, but I can stand his singing to a certain degree... also I love comedy and depending on the panel, this could be absolutely amazing. Jeff Ross is going to make this kid cry! I'm hoping Nick Kroll is on the panel because he does a character very similar to the Biebz on Kroll show. I'd kind of like to see him be the Roast Master actually... idk who else I'd like to see... maybe some other Canadian Comedian... this could be amazing. Its going to air in March and I'm just wondering who the panel is going to be. I'm not a huge fan of roasts, but the Roast of James Franco was absolutely brilliant. I think this might not be as good because I don't know if Bieber will roll with the punches as well as Franco did. Plus usually they don't actually insult the roastee that much. They kind of insult everyone on the panel... and usually there will be

What I watched this week: 1/25/15

So what I've kind of been doing lately is just watching a bunch of things I've been watching throughout the week. And by "a week" I mean just everything I've watched from the last post to what I've watched this post... I kind of forgot a couple things I watched before I posted the last blog of what I've watched, I watched 2 shows on Tru TV, One of which I liked one that I didn't. The one I didn't like was World's Dumbest. I've watched World's Dumbest infomercials before, and I liked that. This one was World's Dumbest Hot Shots. It was just weird and not funny, mostly just people falling and hurting themselves...  just weird. The comedians in it were not the best. On a brighter note however, I finally watched Impractical Jokers, which my cousins told me about like over a year ago and it was really funny. Basically its a prank show with these four people doing pranks that make themselves look more dumb than anything. They do crazy t

Shannon tries to adult good #1- What is a grown-up?

Soooo... I feel like I am not qualified to explain what a grown up is... But I should be one by now right? I'm 23 years old, dammit! I've technically been a grown up for... 6 years! I use an ellipsis there because I actually had to count on my fingers 18, 19, 20, 21,22,23. And then I had to google how to spell ellipsis! So non grown up! Well okay, I know what ellipsis means. I understand how to use it, where to use it and that its only three dots instead of multiple, no matter how long the pause is. That is kind of mature. So what is wrong with me? Why do I not feel like a grown up? What is a grown up? Well, one thing might be the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" This is something I've kind of always known the answer too, but its varied a lot. I've wanted to be a singer, an actress, a writer, a pirate, Batman but a girl, a princess and more specifically a comedian, comedy writer and the next Tina Fey... As of right now I'm kind of no

Scribbles about TV: American Horror Story Freakshow Finale... I spoil EVERYTHING... but you probably could have predicted it!

I'm not quite sure how exactly I feel about everything. I feel like it was either the saddest finale or the happiest finale... or if I'm just pissed that the end of Murder House, Coven and Freakshow are basically the exact same... either way I'm bummed they waited until now to bring back Twisty and Edward Mouldrake... Okay I'll get to that... Right now, lets start with the beginning-ish. So it starts off with Dandy running the show and everyone is pissed... rightfully so. He's horrible. It makes sense... then for quite some time he just shoots up all the freaks at the show. The only ones that survive are Angela Basset, Jimmy, and Bette and Dot. Bette gets married to Dandy and then the group bands together to kill him. Then pretty much they just show Hollywood and how Elsa got famous and how she's on top right now and she's the best... and its really really boring and long. Literally like nothing important happens until she says she won't perform on H

Scribbles About Movies: Into The Woods Review (slight spoilers... okay big spoilers.)

Yesterday I saw Into The Woods with my cousins. I was super excited to see this movie because I saw the play as a kid... and it was horrifying. Lol. I'm pretty sure that I was traumatized because there's death and people cheating on their spouses and the end isn't happy... and at the time I didn't get why this play was so sad. I didn't understand the message behind it, and now I do. Its very heavy for little kids, most will go over their heads if you were to take them... Disney did it in a way that wasn't quite as sad and traumatic... but its still a heavy musical. So everywhere I had been hearing how wonderful Johnny Depp was in it and how cool his costume was... and I knew this wasn't really going to be a big deal. I don't remember the musical all that well, but of all the parts I definitely did not remember a wolf being in it. He was good, his costume was cool... but he was pretty much only in it for one song. The song was about how he wanted to eat

January 2015: IT LIST!

I totally was about to change the name of this to "the Bae list" or something like that... but Bae isn't going to be popular in a few months. Just know, all these items I'm mentioning are bae. A lot of these are fashion related... so thats a thing. 1) Gray Sparkly Cardigan Ugg Boots- I've been wearing these all the time. I love Uggs in general, and these are new, so they're kind of my favorites right now. They are warm and comfy and they look fashionable and go with everything. I used to hate the color grey, and now I've been loving it. i don't have a picture of these, but they look sooo much prettier in person than on camera anyway... I'm obsessed with uggs in general, but these are my babies! 2) Target handbag- Speaking of Grey fashiony items, I recently got this handbag at Target and it is awesome! Its big and it has a crossbody and a shorter strap. It holds everything in my life that I need. Its good quality and affordable too. It was like

Man Crush Monday: Scott Auckerman

1) He's a really good host- The non-crazy parts of the podcast are always really funny. He gets to really good host. He's nice to his guests and promotes them and says how talented they are... but he's not like overly brown nosing. He'll joke around and I feel like he just seems like someone really comfortable to have interview you. I think it would be very nerve-racking to both improvise and do an interview promoting a project, if the host was someone more intimidating. Idk there are a lot of hosts I think aren't good to their guests and some that I think intimidate people... He's good at that. 2) He's also good at improvising- Hosting isn't easy. Improv isn't easy. He does both really really well. It is such a unique show and mostly because of his ability to multi task in this situation makes it even better. If you listen to the episode with Taran Killam and Paul Brittain as the Calvin Twins, he does a great job of sort of helping them with thei

Stuff That Happened this Week (Week of 1/11/156) )

1) The Golden Globes- The Golden Globes aired on Sunday. It was Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's last time hosting, hopefully they will move on to hosting other shows because they're awesome. Gina Rodregez from Jane The Virgin won, Michael Keaton won, JK Simmons, Amy Adams, the guy that played Stephen Hawking, Julianne Moore, The Affair, Transparent and Jeffrey Tambor won a lot. Lots of good things... Chrissy Teagen looked Hungry in a meme and JLo's dress hugged her boobs and showed a nip and Jeremy Renner just looked at it in an obvious way. Lol. 2) The CW Renews Jane The Virgin and other shows- So this was a cool thing. The CW was not doing well with ratings last year and it cancelled a bunch of shows... this year it renewed Jane The Virgin, Arrow, Reign, a lot of shows were picked up. Its a good thing. So yeah thats good. I only really watch Jane The Virgin, I want to watch Reign and The Originals and Maybe The Vampire Diaries... idk. I think Izombie looks good too. Thats go

What I Watched This Week 1/11/14

This week I finally did watch Camp Takota!!! Yayyy! It was really good! I was a little skeptical of a YouTube movie because I think a lot of youtubers aren't necessarily the best actors and actresses in the world and it's not that they're bad at all, but sometimes watching a movie with youtubers can just be like watching a really long YouTube video. This was actually like a real movie. It was funny and there were a lot of serious aspects to it. At first I found the premise a little far fetched... But the rest of the story was really compelling and overall I just really liked it. It's also nice to see a comedy with an almost entirely female cast. I liked that aspect of it. I wish Hannah Hart was in it a bit more. I loved Mamrie Hart, I've never watched her on YouTube, but I thought she was the funniest when they all went on @midnight and I think she won against Weird Al... Which is crazy. She wrote the movie too, and I thought she was great. Grace Helbig was great

Scribbles about TV: New show reviews+ Final season reviews

I'm going to do another "what I watched this week... but there are lots of new shows I'd like to review, plus the beginning of the final seasons of both Parks and Rec and Kroll show... so I'd like to talk about those also. Togetherness  I'm a big fan of the Duplass brothers, so I was going to watch the show just because they're the creators and directors and Mark Duplass stars in it... so I was excited about that. To be honest though, if the Duplass brothers had nothing to do with this series, I probably wouldn't watch it because its something that seems familiar and sad and the previews looked good but also sad. And it is a little sad, but mostly I think this show is really funny and really good overall. I was pleasantly surprised.  Mark Duplass plays a family man, he and his wife just had a baby and are now going through some problems and they both still do love each other... but they do have a lot of problems. That sounds really sad, but they

Oscar Race 2015: If I were The Oscars

So I didn't see many of the nominated movies this year... but if I were in The Academy THIS is who would win the oscars. Basically Gone Girl would probably win a lot. BEST ACTRESS  This is someone that was actually nominated, so it should be no shock. Rosamund Pike. That was such a breakthrough role, a hard character to play and she did a phenomenal job of it. She hasn't really starred in anything I don't think and she hasn't been in many movies overall, but people were talking about her a lot and she should get it. BEST ACTOR  I didn't see Foxcatcher at all... but I want Steve Carell to win of corse. How cool would it be for him to EGOT? Plus he looks really good in this movie. If I were going to give it to movies I did see, I think I would pick Chris Pratt? Lol or Kermit the Frog... they both did a pretty amazing performance. BEST DIRECTOR  Again, it should go to Gone Girl. David Fincher did it right. Gone Girl could have been such a bad movie if someone
